Gods & Godslayers:
Lenneth (VPs)- This is so ridiculous that it is not funny
Kuja (FF9)- Not as bad as above, but still pretty one sided
Zophar (Lunar2)- Now this is a close one
Lavos (CT)- Destruction Rain From the Heaven is both more devastating and covers more area than Giga Graviton.

Godlike:
Chris Lightfellow (S3)- Another close one
Emelious de Pamela (G3)- Close, but I think the sword tips things in Emilious's favor
Etna (Dis)- Etna should be in the division above
Ashley Winchester (WA2)- Now, Lady is just the kind of being that Ashely's shiny swords is meant to cut down.

Heavy:
Luke fon Fabre (TotA)- Again, human deatomizer has its charm
Miranda (LoD)
Ziggurat 8 (XS)
Emeralda (XG)

Middle:
Lucia (Lunar2)
Mareg (G2)
Kevin (SD3)
Arche Klein (ToP)

Light:
Guido (G1)- Is not Mieu
Relm Arrowny (FF6)
Banon (FF6)- And is not Scarlet
Edward Damcyan (FF4)

Just curious, but how does Lazlo have more plot power than Chris?  They both have a God in their right hand, and Chris is not only recognised as a commander in her unimportant nation-state, but her unimportant nation-state managed to join an alliance that notched a victory against a major super power as opposed to a falling apart at the edges has-been.

Heavy:
Darc (AtL4) vs. Luke fon Fabre (TotA)  - Luke.

Gods & Godslayers:
Lenneth (VPs) vs. Marona (PB) - Godess of Creation versus Little Girl with a Phantom. Alternatively, one of the Goddesses of Fate with an army of dead heroes versus Little Girl with an army of random dead people.
Kuja (FF9) vs. Lazlo (S4) - Get out, Lazlo. True, Lazlo's plot power was cheese, but Kuja's might was both stronger and he didn't need to sacrifice his life energy to attack.
Zophar (Lunar2) vs. Bhaalspawn (BGs) - Badass Magic Emperor > all
Lavos (CT) vs. Jecht (FFX) - Jecht got defeated by a bunch of punks with attitude[/i]. Some determination was all it took. On the other hand, Lavos was only defeated partly after timetravel hax and even then, he managed to merge with Schala according to Chrono Cross.

Godlike:
Chris Lightfellow (S3) vs. Melfice (G2) - Suikoden hype?
Emelious de Pamela (G3) vs. Magus (CT) - He summoned Lavos, was the leader of a large army and whatnot. That has to count for something.
Etna (Dis) vs. Mithos Yggdrasil (ToS) - Go away Etna.

Heavy:
Darc (AtL4) vs. Luke fon Fabre (TotA) - Ahahaha.
Ziggurat 8 (XS) vs. Lenna (FF5)

Middle:
Lucia (Lunar2) vs. Tseng (FF7) - Again, Goddess/Princess of the Blue Star with the powers of the mighty Althena at her beck and call, with magics unseen by human eyes versus... Some dude that led the Turks. Ooookay.
Minsc (BGs) vs. Kevin (SD3) - >_<
Arche Klein (ToP) vs. Rico Banderas (XG) - And then there was a gangleader.

Light:
Guido (G1) vs. Mieu (TotA) - Mieu hype.
Relm Arrowny (FF6) vs. Chisato Madison (SO2) - Is younger and thus by extension, far more powerful because she'll only be sronger as she grows older!
Banon (FF6) vs. Scarlet (FF7) - Can't decide.

screw you charles

And as we all know, left-handed people are not only completely evil, but also far more powerful than those right-handed fools.  It's simple logic.  Dextra, sinistra, etc.

Kuja (FF9) vs. Lazlo (S4)
Zophar (Lunar2) vs. Bhaalspawn (BGs)
Lavos (CT) vs. Jecht (FFX)

Godlike:
Chris Lightfellow (S3) vs. Melfice (G2)
Emelious de Pamela (G3) vs. Magus (CT) - Cute and pretty close, but yeah, I'm going with Emelious.
Etna (Dis) vs. Mithos Yggdrasil (ToS)
Lady (SH3) vs. Ashley Winchester (WA2) - Yeah, I can see Ashley being top here.

Heavy:
Darc (AtL4) vs. Luke fon Fabre (TotA) - =___=
Gallows Carradine (WA3) vs. Miranda (LoD) - I refuse to think about this one.
Ziggurat 8 (XS) vs. Lenna (FF5)
Emeralda (XG) vs. Cherenkov (XS) - I... guess?

Middle:
Lucia (Lunar2) vs. Tseng (FF7) - Mhm.
Tim Rhymeless (WA2) vs. Mareg (G2) - Lalalalala
Minsc (BGs) vs. Kevin (SD3)
Arche Klein (ToP) vs. Rico Banderas (XG)

Light:
Guido (G1) vs. Mieu (TotA) - Awesome unlike Mieu.
Relm Arrowny (FF6) vs. Chisato Madison (SO2)
Banon (FF6) vs. Scarlet (FF7) - This is ridiculous.
Edward Damcyan (FF4) vs. Healie (DW4) - And so is this.
19:35:58 (trancehime) there's a specific spot in the game that's for item duping

Gods & Godslayers:
Kuja (FF9) vs. Lazlo (S4): Untranced Kuja > pre-endgame Lazlo, due to much greater control of what power he has. Tranced Kuja > endgame Lazlo, as blowing up a planet > blowing up some ships, no matter how wussy that planet is.
Lavos (CT) vs. Jecht (FFX): Lavos remains badass in this.

Godlike:
Chris Lightfellow (S3) vs. Melfice (G2): Good fight, both are accomplished swordsmen, etc. Going with the one who is more mentally stable, plus a general feeling that True Runes rank above Valmar Parts.
Emelious de Pamela (G3) vs. Magus (CT): Seems immensely straightforward. Magus tries to slay a god, gets badly beaten. Emelious succeeds. x4.
Lady (SH3) vs. Ashley Winchester (WA2): Doesn't need exceptional circumstances to access Knightblazer / Sword Magess.

Heavy:
Gallows Carradine (WA3) vs. Miranda (LoD): My initial kneejerk was that Dragoon power was more special than the more indirect control of mediums, then personality settled the vote from there. Dedicated vs. lazy.
Ziggurat 8 (XS) vs. Lenna (FF5): Lenna comes closer to death in FF5 despite Ziggy being the one who wants to die. Says all you need to know.
Emeralda (XG) vs. Cherenkov (XS): Close one,

Middle:
Lucia (Lunar2) vs. Tseng (FF7): *shrug* Guess I have more respect for the supernatural than Tseng's down-to-earth competence.
Tim Rhymeless (WA2) vs. Mareg (G2)

Light:
Relm Arrowny (FF6) vs. Chisato Madison (SO2): Oh wow, good one. But... yeah, siding with the paint magic.
Banon (FF6) vs. Scarlet (FF7): Technology, I suppose.
Edward Damcyan (FF4) vs. Healie (DW4): BARD VS. BARD. Well, one of them heals. Fail-off.

Erwin Schrödinger will kill you like a cat in a box.
Maybe.

Gods & Godslayers:
Lavos (CT) vs. Jecht (FFX)
This is really close, now that I think about it - Lavos destroys the world as we know it, but Sin easily could if it didn't have very specific instructions to only obliterate the high technology. Still, Lavos can wreck the whole world at once, while Sin has to move from locale to locale, which says "Lavos is more badass" to me.

Godlike:
Lady (SH3) vs. Ashley Winchester (WA2)
Giving Ashley free access to Sword Saint. That form absolutely crushed Lord Blazer, and I can't see Lady being leaps and bounds stronger than him. Plus the nature of her power means Ashley would be able to call in POWAR OF FREINSHIP from the rest of the world pretty easily.

Heavy:
Ziggurat 8 (XS) vs. Lenna (FF5)
What plot power do the FFV heroes have, exactly? I mean, yeah, they have the crystal fragments, but what does that do for them other than let them re-awaken the elements at the end? IIRC, combat-wise they're just your typical Badass Normal RPG heroes.

Middle:
Lucia (Lunar2) vs. Tseng (FF7)
Only at midgame is this a remotely fair fight.
Tim Rhymeless (WA2) vs. Mareg (G2)
Mareg's durability is ridiculous, and Tim is just a little kid in that regard. I'm willing to bet on him living long enough for axe to the face.
Arche Klein (ToP) vs. Rico Banderas (XG)
FLYING HYPE. Also one of the three most powerful spellcasters in two worlds.

Light:
Guido (G1) vs. Mieu (TotA)
Can fight.
Relm Arrowny (FF6) vs. Chisato Madison (SO2)
"Hit enemy with their own best trick" isn't that bad for plot power.
Banon (FF6) vs. Scarlet (FF7)
INFINITE HEALING IN EPIC SLAPFIGHT YES.

Wait, Banon's Infinite Healing was a plot-related power? This may or may not skew the odds in his favor.

Gods & Godslayers:
Zophar (Lunar2) vs. Bhaalspawn (BGs) - Never saw what made teh Bhaalspawn so great.

Heavy:
Ziggurat 8 (XS) vs. Lenna (FF5) - Simple enough
Emeralda (XG) vs. Cherenkov (XS) - Nanomachine hype?

Middle:
Lucia (Lunar2) vs. Tseng (FF7) - Go slaughter Middle, Lucia.
Minsc (BGs) vs. Kevin (SD3) - Guy who goes berserk vs. Guy who turns into a werewolf.  Good match, but Kevin does not have a pet hamster who GOES FOR THE EYES and thus loses
Arche Klein (ToP) vs. Rico Banderas (XG) - Flies.

Light:
Relm Arrowny (FF6) vs. Chisato Madison (SO2) - Painting copies of an enemy and having it attack them is a pretty cool trick.  Chisato may be a black belt, but that's not enough here.

Lenneth (VPs) vs. Marona (PB) - Abstaining. Marona was able to take down Baal /and/ even able to control a phantom COPY of him, and technically also defeated a godly robot in the form of Pringer X (Or XX, depending on your mileage). It isn't totally incorrect to NOT call Marona a "godslayer." If people say Laharl/Etna defeated Baal, I can say Marona also defeated Baal. It's extremely close and I cannot say for certain who I would vote for.

Just to note this, ingame levels become plot cannon after N1 unifies the level mechanic after Phantom Kingdom. And Marone's highest starting level was only 800, while Etna was 1500. Thus, I'd give Marone's phantom's more credit in combating Baal than Marone herself. Also, Marone also lack the powerful dimensional manipulation abilities that most high rank overlords hold, which would handicap her in the fight.

How much dimensional manipulation powers the overlords have aren't well documented, but level 2000 and 1500 seems to be the cut off line.
From starting level of 500-1500, Overlords in this range can shift from world to world at will, as well as connecting parallel universes and erasing dimension boundary.
While in starting level of 2000, they can create their own pseudo world Belial style, but so far Zeta is the only one who has demonstrated such power.

While in starting level of 2000, they can create their own pseudo world Belial style, but so far Zeta is the only one who has demonstrated such power.

Bold is a pretty fair point to make as is everything else, but I thought that Marona was the medium in which the phantoms would phase into the existing physical plane? Taking this into consideration it should be noted that Marona also has the capacity to summon phantoms which would be indeed the ones who would take on Baal. If you take Marona out of the equation then the phantoms would not be able to materialize in a tangible form precisely because of Marona's ability as Chroma. Marona on her own may not be as strong but she does have the benefit of having strong phantoms.

Given this I'd say that it wouldn't be a totally ridiculous match-up, though, you know, it's kinda obvious who wins here.

But also remember that Marone needs other object to confine the Phantoms with. Etna only needs to send a planet destroying blast right off the bat and the fight is sealed. Marone lacks the ability to fend against Etna's attacks and evoking her Phantoms at the same time. Similar to how Laharl just blow the planet up in Dis2's bad endings despite he was beaten in a close combat.

Worse come to worse, Etna can just move to outer space and fries Marone from distance she cannot reach. Which wouldn't be too hard for Etna, even Overlords with starting level of 1100 can do it, save Etna's 1500.

You are also assuming that battles take place in barren lands where there are absolutely no potential objects for confinement, which I would say is rather silly, but I suppose your point about the other characters is valid. Like I said, ultimately, I'm just not going to vote on the match, I'm thinking through this way too hard and quite frankly I don't want to give myself a headache thinking about it any longer.

Point conceded.

I think it a bit silly to use levels in a plot arguement. Just because a character of x level can do something does not mean another character of Y level (Greater then X level) can also do the same thing.

Then again I've never seen this world destroying Etna so I can't really say anything on it.

The argument for this is that N1 has included gameplay levels into their plot canons is the thing. And according to Pram, blasting planets from outer space was consider a easy for even for her. It'll be pretty silly to consider Etna couldn't do the same.

You are also assuming that battles take place in barren lands where there are absolutely no potential objects for confinement

Just noting that is not what I assumed. My assumption would be that Etna can wipe out all the object of confinement before Marone can react.

That, basically. Etna having a level in the thousands in Disgaea 2 isn't just so her boss form is nigh-unbeatable - it's a plot point, referred to repeatedly in dialogue and a major reason she joins the party.

In all fairness, she has all those levels...and lets her possibly face down "Zenon"? Boss around prinnies? She's powerful, but the game also makes it clear that there are probably thousands of people in her world with the same level of power (And she's pretty equal to Laharl, who is pretty middling compared to the true plot power in D2).

General meh to generic plot powers completely not dealt with in game, and completely indicative of powers. If a Level 1500 Overlord can do all those things...why would she really have that many issues taking on a Level 90 Overlord, even if he's getting a boost (And if he's getting that boost, then your level 60 characters would die miserably...)?

Actually I'm kind of wondering about that. If levels show so much power plot wise then where the hell are the final bosses in all this. Laminton is only lv 90 for example does this make him some sort of weakling? Does it mean a lv 1000 ghost is greater then him plot wise? I'm sorry but I don't see how massive levels can prove something in a plot arguements.
