Welcome, greetings, and super sexilicious fantabulous fun hellos to everyone! This is the topic to discuss the get-together upcoming in 2009.
First, it's going to be held in Pittsburgh, East Coast fun, this year.
Second, the biggest issue is, as always, going to be housing. This is where I've been having some issues, and do want some input from everyone. I have a couple thoughts, and will state that we should have no problem finding a PLACE to hold everyone, but all places so far have their advantages/disadvantages, and I want to make sure everyone has thoughts. So...
1) I have a townhouse I will be moving into in January. I live about 15 minutes from the airport, and about 15 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh/just about everything of interest in the city limits. There is also a hotel conveniently very close (< 1 mile) from where I live that's cheap and small enough that renting a floor is not out of the price limits or possibilities otherwise. So option 1 would be to do this. Also a lot more convenient for me as a whole, but this does have obvious disadvantages.
2) Option two is...interesting enough. There is a place called Oglebay that rents out cottages.
http://www.oglebay-resort.com/cottages/cottageinfo.htm is the main site. These cottages are large, nice, and have a lot of amenities. I need to call and take a look into time periods for the cottages, but these places are very nice (I've been there before), and affordable. The biggest problem is that Oglebay is about an hour away from Pittsburgh, and actually in WV. This makes logistics hell for me, and if this were the case, I would NEED people to help me with airport ferrying and the like. The place is otherwise excellent, though I would have to ensure we get one of the bigger places. But split by the expected 30 people or so...this should be doable.
3) Option three is I'm going to continue looking for other places within the city. There is one place I'm looking into, though the current max right now they suggest is 16...but I know it's bigger than the place we used last year at Con, so...
Next set of options - TIME. July again, I assume, but how long? There were thoughts of making it a week or so, longer than last time. What time period would work best for everyone? The 17th-24th, in that vicinity (like it's been the past few years)? I would prefer either sometime then or the week before (10th...this is Friday).
Other issues: TELL ME IF YOU ARE COMING! Need to know exact counts. I had head counted 30 or so last I checked, so let's make sure that's the same!
Internationals, are you still interested? If you are, I would like to see if we can set up a fund to help you a little bit with the travel - it might not be much, but it will be something.
I hope that's it? Super is being made the de facto second in command because I said so, so if you can't reach me (*curses having no time to even poop anymore*), contact him. But I will keep up on this, don't worry.
