Who are you voting for: Election Day is here!
« on: November 04, 2008, 01:15:42 AM »
It's finally Election Day! After all the mudslinging, the fighting, the bitching and the hype, it's time to choose our next president. So who did you vote for(Or would if you could) and why?

Yes, I'm aware this is early, but I have a ton of stuff going on tomorrow so getting this up will be a crapshoot otherwise.

Am I blind, or do these boards lack a way to skip to "see poll results" without voting?

Third party for president, Third party for the senate, democratic in the local election for a last second change. The line was fucking insane, took dad and I over an hour to get through. We got there at 5:45 and got out at 7:15 or so? Yeah. Raining and humid too.

Funnily enough I was thinking of you when I first got in line. The Atlanta lines sound pretty horrible.

It was record lines here. There was no line for the 04 election. I'm going to go see my grandparents (Voted in Virginia Beach area since 48) and see if they've seen anything like this.

Voted for the Barackster, absentee two weeks ago. I'm going to be tense and nervous and excited all day.

Voted Democrat until I got to state stuff where I pretty much voted all over. 1/3 Republican, 1/3 Democrat, 1/3 third party in races where they just didn't impress me.

Threw my vote away mostly, basically because I'm weird and won't vote for Democrats or Republicans.  Granted, all the local stuff was one person running unopposed, in which case I filled in the empy bubble.

Voted for Obama about five minutes ago. No line as suspected. Voted about half and half otherwise.

Straight ticket Dem except for the state legislature, which had one unopposed Republican in the House and one who's actually been very solid on economic issues (which are absolutely huge here) and has a lot of clout to back it up in the Senate. Longest lines I've seen since I moved here, and the woman in front of me said she hadn't seen that many people show up since JFK.

Went in at 11:45. No lines, got in and out in about sixty seconds. Yeah, screw voting before work from now on.

15 minutes from out the door to back in the house.

Voted Dem across the board except for the House seat that was up. The incumbent was a Rep, and he's done a pretty good job.

Did my voting, voted Obama of course. Pretty much straight Dem otherwise as well. Took me about 15 minutes from getting to the polling place to getting out.

Voted Obama for president and the democrat former governor over the republican former governor for Senate.

No lines, no hassles. My mother commented that Obama's name was on page 1 of the ballot selection and McCain's on page 2 or some such, but I didn't have that problem.

Obama has won. McCain is on TV giving his concession speech right now. I am so incredibly excited I can barely express it.

Oregon's mail in ballots laughs at each and every one of you suckers who have to wait in line.

Obviously voted Obama.  The real issue for me was seeing Merkeley vs Smith for the Senate, but I'm tired so I'll have to wait till the morning to see the results!

I was about to declare that McCain had the better speech tonight, but then Obama mentioned puppies in his speech.  How can I possibly go against puppies? ;_;

On a more concerning note, Prop 8 in California is still looking dangerous.

Yeah, I'm seeing some pretty disgusting Prop 8 numbers right now. Damper on an otherwise wonderful night.

I would agree. The first half of Obama's speech was filler. The second half though really picked up and he ended strong.
