About VPII - I have a question
« on: December 26, 2007, 07:54:34 PM »
I was playing VPII today when three of my characters died and Mithra was frozen. I received a game over. Does this mean that in the DL characters from other games that can freeze a target could get an auto win against a VPII character?

Depends. Most people apply status as they function from the game they come from (ala if Freeze in another game does not cause a game over, it would not beat a VP2 character, while VP2 Freeze would beat the other character). Of course, this is the sort of matter that's more up to personal interpretation, but traditionally, that's the way it is handled. Status uses the mechanic of the game it is coming from, not that it is targetting.

IIRC VP2 Freeze is only a fatal status when enemies use it; if you freeze the last enemy, the fight continues. So, more weirdness.

Yeah, pretty sure that's how it works.

Yes. VP2 freeze and paralysis are fatal status if the enemy hits your last remaining character(s) with them, but not if you hit the last remaining enemy with those statuses.

The logical way to take this would be to say that Freeze status inflicted by enemies is better than the Freeze status inflicted by PCs.

The stupid way to take this would be to say that all VP2 PCs have some kind of innate weakness to those statuses.

This tends to be a moot point in any event. VP2 PCs can block those statuses with storebought blockers.

And the VP2 bosses who possess these statuses suck too much ass to win in their current divisions regardless.

Though it probably lets Odin beat Cristo, I guess. So wrong.

So, uh, VP2 cast spoils Nel by virtue of freeze blockers?

Sure, the ones who can also handle the part where Nel has things like 2HKO damage and near-infinite healing.
