The loot pile!
« on: December 25, 2008, 02:21:34 PM »
So what all did you get this year?

---

A pile of gift cards, most to Best Buy though there is a Barnes and Nobles straggler.
Clothes
Basic supplies - soap, deodorant, shaving creme. The stuff people get you when they're in need of something safe.
Redskins books and DVDs.
Lottery tickets. I struck out on them. Boo.
A Redskins lamp.
Slim Jims.
A Redskins poster. Someone was single minded this year.
Chocolates.

The economic climate is hitting everyone hard. Normally we do better than this. Ah well, that's life.

With all the crap I got this year it makes one wonder what a recession is.

A new PC that I will be setting up a bit later.
Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts.
A second 360 controller.
A battery pack for my current controller.
New headphones.
DVD-Rs.
A coolant system for my 360.
Various articles of clothing.
A CD cleaner kit.
An alarm clock.

Overall a good haul, and I was kinda surprised by all of it. I almost feel bad for getting so much :X.

Initial load!

75 GB External HD.
Raising Arizona. A movie I never heard of before! But it has Nicolas Cage so it must be hilariously bad.
Persona 4 + Artbook. I already own this so I'll probably give it to a friend who I've been hyping it to.
The Graveyard Book. Neil Gaiman's new novel<3.
The Neil Gaiman Audio Collection.
Prince of Stories - The Many Worlds of Neil Gaiman.
Four books about applying to university. Or college as you crazy people call it.
Three books about taking a year off to travel.
The Really Useful Ultimate Student Cook Book.
$100 Gift Card for BlueNotes. It's a clothing store.
$100 Gift Card to Indigo/Chapters/Coles. (Book stores)
$50
Various snacks.

And apparently one of my many lost GBA games finally turned up. Mario Kart Super Circuit, woo.

From the aunt, uncles, and grandparents.

$150 of Gift Cards for Best Buy.
$50 Gift Card for BlueNotes.
$25 Gift Card for The Bay.
A pair of quartz book ends.

Some stuff is still in the States, and this isn't counting anything I might receive from my father's side (though I might not get anything from them at all).

The pile:

Not going broke while in England
Gift card to Target
Gift card to iTunes
$100 check
In a fit of hilarity, my parents found my copy of "Naked Pictures of Famous People," wrapped it up, and gave it to me.  It was amazingly funny.

WHAT I GAVE TO OTHER PEOPLE:

Alcohol for my family. (1 bottle of ale, 2 bottles of Dutch lemonade beer)
Sweater for my grandma
Post cards and magnets and other souvenirs for my extended family.

Another Neil Gaiman fan: Found.
Various snacks: Found.

I'm kind of jealous, I can't find any books in English here in Japan. I would love to read the new Gaiman novel...

I got lots of Cake and Mochi for my birthday, as well as a ton of Myspace birthday wishes... >.>;;

And today was the first real snow of the season, I got into my first snowball fight ever (I've lived in Florida my whole life). So that was a really cool Birthday/Christmas gift.

Cash
50$ Gift card for Gamestop
Socks.  Lots of them.  Which is *good*, because they tend to get "lost" a bit too easily.
Assorted candy
Sneakers.  Size 15.  Which tend to be hard to find, to say the least.

About two weeks ago, my Brother in Law rebuilt my computer for me on the cheap, and did a bang-up job. I'd have been content there, but I also got:

Lots of clothes, mostly dressier than I like, but this I consider a good thing, since I'll need nicer clothes
The new AC/DC and Metallica albums
A relaxation fountain
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
A throw
Monies
And cologne: Pi by Givenchy. <3 for this scent.

I got everything I asked for save for a keyboard and a new flash drive. Both can be had very cheap, though, so this was a fine, fine year.

People seemed to universally like what I bought for THEM, this year, too. So I'd say this was a smashing success on all levels.

A nice sweater
Two ties (aaaahhh my first ties ever, truly today I am a professional ;_;)
A digital watch
A digital camera and memory card
Tales of Symphonia 2 (because it's the only noteworthy Wii RPG I don't have, I assume. I'll probably be exchanging this, just have no clue what for)

Good stuff overall.

About 300 dollars in cash, and also a hoodie that I'll never wear.
Don't think of it as a novel. Think of it as a chance to retroactively win every argument you have ever walked away from.

I find that there is a lot of irony in NEB getting ToS2 when literally nobody else in the DL sans maybe Niu has played the game.
