Pokemon Emerald- Starting this up finally.  SHould be a fairly painless playthrough and it'll be a change of pace from P4. Unsure if I want to tackle P3 next or just say fuck it and replay FM4 because well, FM4.

If you played P4, you have absolutely no reason to play P3 unless you're just badly hurting for voting rights. P4 was a country-sized leap forward from P3 in basically all regards except battle initiative and Analyze.

EDIT: right, I play games too.

Assassin's Creed
the end leaves you with nothing but a bunch of cryptic scribblings and no resolution (Fuck that).

Edit - Oh yeah but glad you got that this is just parkour simulator and not a game, that makes it way more fun.  The whole thing in three days is not a level of fun I could uphold from it though.  A few hours here and there just when you feel like running along rooftops and jumping off stuff improves it a little.

Yeah.  I'd like the parkour controls to be a little more taxing, but given how much Mirror's Edge flopped because the controls were too counter-intuitive I'm not sure how much more complex it should be.  Maybe AC2 will find a better balance.

And really the 3 days straight of playing it was more me giving up drinking for a while which completely killed my social life, and I don't work because of the holiday so I had nothing better to do.  I guess I could brush up on my Japanese or maybe write but hey you know what this is AMERIKA.  I don't do any of this productivity bull unless I'm forced to.

Speaking of which...

Bioshock:  Started it up.  Fun, though I wish I had a mouse and keypad instead of the 360 controller.  Got up to Dr. Steinman.  Annoyed that I had to trade Incinerate for Telekinesis, but hey there you go.  Can I get that spell back at any point?  The Gatherer's Garden I got to doesn't have it.

Figured I'll get the good ending, which probably means I won't be using too much EVE.  Though if I replay it I'll probably do a mage build instead of focusing on guns since I'll be going for the evil ending.

Right now... not far enough to get anything more than impressions.  Seems like a cool game, has great atmosphere, and the 360 controls aren't making it too hard on me.  I'm starting to acclimate, at least.

Gene Bank is for swapping plasmids and tonics. You can buy more slots for plasmids at the Gatherer's Garden, though (sometimes. I dunno if it's an option at the first one you find).

The overall difference in ADAM between going all EAT THEM ALL EAT THEM ALL EAT THEM ALL and the vagina route is really quite minimal Zenny, you do get more ADAM with eating them, but it overall pans out to be not that big a difference.  Telekinesis is totally worth the slot as well.

G2- Heading for the final dungeon I think (New Valmar) Is there any particular reason to do Raul Hills Special Area before finishing up? It's nice to have Roan back again, True Dragon Rise is nifty especially when boosted by several Whisper of Stars. Also I'm not entirely sure if that DL art I'm using is of Tio or Elmo >_>

SO3- Auto levelling Max Fury and Pulse Blast with Maria. Testing stuffs on another file.

Raul Hills Special Area has some strong equipment and the last Mana Egg (mostly buff magic if I recall) and is a good source of skill points and shit (which you should have already converted all of your excess cash into anyway by the way with the shop guy).  So it gives you lots of broken shit.  Which is to say, Raul Hills Special Act Zone is not really fantastic (it is less good than G1 optional dungeons I guess or something) as a Time to Power increase ratio goes, but if you like G2 combat it is worth it for more where the game tries (Demons can OHKO you), but it is still pretty easy all things considered.  Suffers a little from Grandia 3 syndrome in that the more interesting items are rare drops, but less retarded about it than G3.

So overall, kind of meh.  It might take you an hour or so of extra G2, what that is worth to you will vary per person.

Yah. Harvest = 160 ADAM, rescue = 80 ADAM, but Tenebaum gives you bonuses for doing the latter. Said bonuses often include a flat 200 ADAM (along with ammo and other stuff, like hypos). Given, say, three little sisters per area, that's only a difference of 40. Pretty trivial (on a per-chapter basis, at least. May add up over the course of the game). I'm not sure you need to rescue all of them to get said bonus, though.

You also get other rewards for rescuing, which should tilt the see-saw in the "Vagina route's" favor.

And hell yes Telekenisis deserves a slot. Throwing canisters at things is some of the best damage you can get in the game, and handles Big Daddies pretty well when they are still frightening.

So I've noticed.  Beat the second level, opened up 2 Plasmid slots.  Hypnotize Big Daddy makes it so I don't have to do any work.  Accidentally attacking the Big Daddy once however pisses him off and makes me need to kill him.  Gotta work on that.

Up to the second boss.  Quit because it was 4 AM and he was kicking my ass.  Also because while fighting him the first time I got to a point where I could not reasonably win, so I reloaded my oldest file... What the hell do you mean autosave only goes off at the beginning of the level?!  Agh.  Yeah.  Did the level twice.  More competently the second time around, though, at least.

I've pretty much acclimated to the 360 controls.  I'm probably just below my computer skills, though in effect not thanks to the game doing a little auto-tracking once I've aimed.

FEDS: Played more since I was on the road for the weekend again. Up to chapter 14, and should probably think about promoting soon. I grabbed five Master Seals from the online shop today, so that'll help things along. Annoyingly, the main person I need to promote is Caeda, since she's capped speed, but Elysian Whips don't go on sale until Wednesday.

Edit: Okay, screw stage 15. LOL invincible mage juggernaut who rushes your team on a map that's mostly desert terrain. When I sent my highest-RES character on the map to block him, she was doubled and killed anyway (on 45% hit chances! Fuck you, RNG.). And, of course, damn near your entire team in FEDS has 0 RES, so it's not like anybody else is going to do better blocking him.

FF8 Twink challenge - Disc 4 left only.

Squall is now up to level 24. Thanks to hunting freaking Anacondaurs/Toramas and misgauging my strength here and there causing a few lopsided kills. Also killed a pack of imps because of Berserk. Tonberry King/Cactuar King/Bahamut are all dead.

Bosses...

Abadon – Huge physical defense is problem one. Problem two was that I had no Confuse on my St-Def. And with Holy junctioned to my Elem-Atk, I couldn’t heal. So I dealt close to 3000+ damage to myself when I was stuck in a confuse loop. I walked in with full health, since I didn’t think I needed Renzokuken rush. Turned out to be a good decision thanks to the oversight >_>

Tonberry King - First killing tonberries are a pain. At 105 Strength, Squall doesn't have enough power to one shot them with Renzokuken unless I get a 7/8 hit Renzo or a Lionheart. Therefore, Strength+40% is a lock. HP strangely doesn't matter for this. Thanks to the fact that Squall has killed 480+ enemies, Everyone's Grudge deals a whopping 7800 damage. My max HP is around 8400 at this point, so going for a hit and then slash self to heal is very inefficient. Instead, I twinked my strength so that I have around 165 Strength. No HP requirements means I can equip other crap in my abilities slots. Made it such that Squall can down a Tonberry as long as he gets a 5 hit minimum Renzokuken. Saved really often (like every 5 minutes) so in case I do get a 4 hit Renzo and die to a counter, I don't lose too much process. The King himself is similar. At around level 15, thanks to 2 party members being level 8 and Squall himself at around 18 or so, Tonberry King's HP maxes out to 27500. A 7 hit Renzo+ finisher, 8 hit Renzo or a Lionheart kills the bastard in one shot. I got the 8 hit Renzo in my first go.

Cactuar King –  Absolute Steve notes that 10,000 needles is used as a counter to every 5th action. So as long as you kill him within 5 Renzos, you win. 3 Renokukens at 165 Strength and level 18 take him down was all he could take. So victory is mine. On that note, this is probably the best Renzokuken animation in the game

Bahamut – The two ruby dragons are apparently NOT scaled to 100. So instead, they were relatively low leveled. The mistake I made here was that I gauged their HP incorrectly. On one case, I Lionheart’d one of them >_>. But the other one, I thought had enough HP to eat 2 Renzokukens. Apparently it did not! So I gained 4 levels as a result. Now I was worried, since I don’t know how strong a level 20ish Bahamut was like. Goal was to make sure he didn’t use Mega Flare at all. I was within limit range before the Ruby Dragons, so I only had around 2000 HP. In addition, I had Sleep junctioned to my St-Atk since I know Ruby Dragons were susceptible to it. This meant I had to bum rush Bahamut since I can’t heal myself without putting myself to sleep, and every hit of his is bad. Thankfully, 3 Renzokukens was all he could take. He got one physical in, which dealt around 300 damage or so? Something like that.

Fujin & Raijin – Two choices. Either Mug Raijin for the Power Wrist, which can refine itself into 10 Auras. Doing so frees up Meteor as a spell to junction to Elem-Def or something else of choice. Largely unnecessary, but it is there. The other choice is just to straight up kill him for 3 Strength Ups. Either case, battle is easy. Renzo Fujin until she dies (which should not take more than 2). Then hit Raijin with Blind, Renzo him to death.

Mobile Type 8 – Either junction yourself with some form of elemental defense to get healing since Corona’s HP-1 could spell death! Mug the side orbs to get some stat ups. Then Renzo the main body. HP should be above 2000 before hand since Twin Homing Laser deals a solid amount and on the off chance you get hit with Megido Flame, having 2000 HP allows you to survive instead of die. If you don’t mug, it does not matter since it will be long dead from Renzos before hand

Seifer 4 – Full heal before hand on Squall. If you had Bio junctioned to Elem Atk, you can’t heal but you also deal more damage. I had around 207 Strength here, so Squall was dealing around 3500 per hit. Still took a few hits. Seifer, to his credit, is pretty fast! Matched several of my turns 1 to 1 when I had Triple to speed and Auto Haste. Fails otherwise. Go 200 damage to my 8500 HP.

I’ve also concluded that Ultimas are probably not possible to get in this challenge. The only way to get them is through Card Mod Ultima Weapon on a 1:1 ratio. This means it takes AGES to get 100 Ultimas. I have 100 of pretty much everything else that I need sans Aura however. Anacondaurs drop Reflect at level 15ish around 4.5% of the time, so this took a huge portion of my afternoon >_>. Regen Rings can be mugged from Toramas, which give my Full Lifes. Meteors were gotten through way too much Triple Triad and Card modding. Thanks to Cactuar Island now open, GF AP requirements are much less of a hassle, although at this point Carbuncle + Cerberus covers every junction that I need more or less. Doomtrain and Cactuar will most likely be the final two in the last set of battles since one gives me Elem-Def x4 AND Auto Shell. The other gives me Evade junction and Luck junction, which can prove to be quite useful.

EDIT: Actually if a Rosetta Stone can be refined into Ultimas, then you can get 100 Ultimas! >_>

Squall’s End of Disc 3 stats at level 24 (some bonuses used):

HP: ~8544 (100 Full Lifes + HP+40%)
Str: 207 (Lionheart + 100 Meteors + Str+60%)
Vit: 95 (100 Meltdowns)
Spr: 88 (100 Reflects)
Spd: 130 (100 Triples + Spd+40%)

Elem Atk: POIZN 100% (100 Bios)
Elem Def: Absorb Ice 100%, Absorb Fire/Thunder 30%, Resist everything else 50% (100 Blizzagas + 100 Flares + 100 Lifes +100 Shells)

St-Atk: Blind 100% (100 Blinds)
St-Def: Resist Blind, POIZN, Silence, Curse, Death, Petrify, Confuse 100% (100 Pains + 100 Deaths + 100 Breaks + 100 Confuses)

Valkyria Chronicles:

THIS IS HOW YOU USE A TANK! indeed.

What can I say? The game has an engaging story, it's gorgeous, great VA. and the gameplay is golden. Deserves all the hype I've seen for it thus far. I just retook the drawbridge.

Valkyria Chronicles- Did Chapters 12-14, as well as Rosie's Report. Stopped before Chapter 15's battle. The fight scene previous was expected but still freaking cool. DLed Edy and Selvaria's Missions from the store and did Edy's. Not bad actually. Almost worth the five bucks, and I'm sure Selvaria's will actually be worth far more than the five bucks, so it all evens out. Was nice at least, since the only one in Edy's I actually use is Marina, who wins with her deadpan victory cry at the end. "And the puppy's safe... yay."

She's Sniper Tear, I tells ya.
