Are there any Chaos Wars bosses worth stat-topiccing, then?

The only decent bosses off the top of my head are IZOU, Wave and the final.

And Izou just bit it, so I'm not going be grabbing his stats...or really any ones.

Testing Bosses is a bitch for a number of reasons.  For starters, the fact that they DON'T lock skills means they can randomly have their movesets change on the spot and...yeah, you can see why that's a problem in and of itself <_<

And this isn't like its a rare phenomenon that can get on your nerves; this actually happens at a rate that's not entirely negligible.

I'm in chapter 8 in Chaos Wars right now if you want me to get you Izou's starting stats for that fight.

Crisis Core missions: Got the Brutal. Costly Punch immediately started doing 99,999 damage. Stuff cries. High-level missions are still a challenge (for instance, the last Wutai mission) due to sheer overwhelming enemy damage.

Meh, just because Chaos Wars isn't getting ranked ever doesn't mean that some kind of stat topic would be useless... Plenty of board tournaments going around!

Xenogears replay: Well, I'm about halfway into disc two now... and remembering why I've never replayed past Shevat before. Damn but this is a LOT of text. And the translation struggles here. Also, Gear battling is less fun than human battles and the 2nd disc seems to be 90% Gear battles.

At least XG 2nd disc has the courtesy to let us fight most of the bosses even if they decided to take out all the exploration and interactivity parts.

Dammit Japan, what made you think crucifying mecha was a cool idea? >.>;;

It's -really- hard to keep playing this game at this point. Even though I like the story, the polish issues are just horrible.

They probably just thought they were being too subtle about Fei being Jesus.  Wouldn't want it to get lost in the shuffle of the Id business, you know.
(You can almost kinda justify it in context, but this is the most favorable interpretation I can come up with from a meta standpoint.  In other words it's just kinda a silly choice, though the rest of the scene is fine!)
That said, if you've gotten to CHU-CHU DIED FOR YOUR SINS... right, gimmick boss time.  Gameplay Spoiler!!!!!! don't attack the second boss until you've healed up, her entire strategy is to power up for five turns then unleash one big MT attack, repeat.  She powers up when you attack her... if you haven't attacked her yet, she'll fail to break your defense.  Only works at the start of the fight, but invaluable because the preceeding boss is a resource-sucking whore.

SMT Devil Survivor- Neat.  The way it handles extra turns is probably the most elegant I've seen?  Although it feels slightly random at times (in particular, I'm not sure if speed determines initial odds of getting one or if it's purely a matter of luck+initiating attack.)

Ar Tonelico- Finished out Phase 2. Really coming to regret taking Misha's path, but when the other option involves using Ayatane and Radolf... eh. Saw what I expect is Lyner's "OH MY GOD SO BAD" scene and its... stupid. But again it's just more of the same harem/shounen lead syndrome. Plus I stopped caring about Misha a long time ago. The whole scenario seems very familar to me for some reason (let's forsake the safety of the world for one person)... I want to say Gurren Lagann , but thats not exactly right. Shooting for Shurelia's ending. Her Cosmosphere is funny at times. Should be done with it by today or tomorrow.

Crisis Core: Ew, stealth mission. Fortunately, the game is nice enough to treat you to UMBRELLA MODE not long after that. Nice. Anyway, traveling to Nibelheim now. Mission completion is at 25% and will probably stay that way. Don't really care enough to keep doing them and the plot enemies cry enough as it is. Crisis Core isn't exactly bad, but it does induce apathy and I sorta just want to get it done with.

For what its worth, I think most people stop doing missions around Nibelheim or so.  You've basically reached the point of where you feel you're strong enough and realize if you just don't STOP doing missions, you might get too much into them.  So yeah, its generally normal what you're doing; even me, who liked the game a lot, beat it with like only 33% Missions done (less on my second run, where I set a lower bar for difficulty to stop doing missions...but partially for stat topic reasons), so yeah.

That said...

Chaos Wars: Chap 9 beaten.

Fuck Lygen.  Both times.  I get the feeling bosses are only gonna get more annoying from here.  Upshot, though, everyone but Alice (who somehow died from a move that didn't seem like it should have mathematically killed her) gained like 5 ranks just chipping away at his health alone!

Then picked up VP2.  Doesn't make me bleed from the forehead.  So far, so good.

Ar Tonelico- Finished. Shurelia end gotten, completing the weird trifecta I went with for the game... Aurica in the party, Misha path, Shurelia end! The game's plusses... the worldbuilding was nice. Dunno why they decided to stop writing after crafting a genuinely interesting setting. Oh well. Cosmospheres were good too. Better than Persona S-Links in terms of actually getting to know the characters! Oh, and Don Leon rules. That is all.

The bad is... many. Randomly forcing characters into your party was annoying. Battles were more tedious than anything. Didn't care about the challenge, but the tedium was annoying. Pacing was accelerated, both a blessing and a curse, but it never really did anything worthwhile character or storywise outside the Cosmospheres...

Persona 3 is probably next, though I'll probably finish Mirror's Edge first

That is why the data books are so THICK. And the very reason why Shurelia's Technical Service is still on line every two week.
I feel like to say it might be worse than Xenosaga.

I think you really needed to stress just how shit most of the characters were but this was mostly just to quote Niu talking in a quote box.

Oh yes. Almost forgot. Aquarion did the whole x = SEX! thing with a lot more style and hilarity than Ar Tonelico. Words can't express how badly they dropped the ball on this one.

I'm not sure how could VP2 be a brickwall, given how impressively easy the game is. On the other hand, C6 may lead you to wallbanging anyway, because seriously.

Congratulations Tide~

ToV-Just finished Baction. Wow. Something I didn't see coming! That character was awesme before but now ... Now my party choices are limited though =( Current party is Judith/Repede/Yuri/Karol. I switched Rita out for Yuri after losing to the boss, then I set Karol to Heal and turned off most of his techs, I also turned off most of Yuri and Repede's too, only leaving them with specific techs. Worked a treat though I nearly ran out of Life Bottles as usual. I have some weapons with an ability called Super Combo so I might be able to start chaining techs soon. Yay.

Prototype - Finsihed.  This is a pretty fun game I had a lot of fun with it and highly recommend it.  That said the boss fights are pretty much universally total arse and suck big fat ones.  Multiple hours of swearing on my part taken up with them.  I was going to fiddle around with it, but now that I have shut it down all I want to do is uninstall it (I don't uninstall anything...) So... I guess that means it was a fun game and a journey I enjoyed it is generally pretty decent.  But still, fuck it I never want to touch it again.

And now you know why I hyped the Hell series magic!  Admittedly, Hell Thundaga is probably even MORE fun in that fight, but yeah, you want one of the two at least.

I had tried it before depending on Status Strike to apply the instant death, but even when you kill in one hit wading into the fray gives the soldiers too many opportunities to Dynamite you to death. Landing that free spellcasting really was the key.

Left 4 dead- What are you trying to prove is mine! Did it with just Trips and myself. We had one reset the entire run, and that was thanks to a accidental witch starling. Was really intense the entire run though.  Did it in just over an hour.
