Soul Nomad- Finally finished Demon Mode.

First, regular mode. Regular mode has pretty fun combat (OB mixed with SRPG). At first it reminded me a lot of Disgaea but SN just has so many options and combinations of teams that comparing it to Disgaea, which didn't really offer a lot of good options aside from SMASH. EVERYTHING., is unfair as hell. Definitely hard enough to go some challenge out of if you wanted (I ended up making the game pretty easy because I compulsively raised ACT with all my guys via Inspections). Decors is a really wonderful idea and I really enjoyed using and collecting a combination of them. Rooms are a really neat idea by giving you Decors and being able to raise them via Inspections, but the execution (forcing you to mindlessly go through them over and over) is poor. I ended up not maxing out my teams because the room system was so poor. I wish that you could buy Revya's room with more than five slots, and let other people buy rooms as well. Inspections are better than Item World by a lot. No Geopanels, and the ability to turtle out a bad situation.

Rock n' Rocks is even better in-game because of the awesome times it triggers.

Story is pretty fun most of the time. I love Tricia and her awesome southern belle accent, and Gig is pretty funny even if he needs his mouth washed out with soap. He kind of says the things that you always think about your really really stupid PCs. The epic spoilars sections blew me away. Game was in a bit of a lull before that. The game needed more bad endings though~ I also enjoy that your main turns into kind of a dick more as time goes on. Also, Odie destroys worlds. Silent Walk + Burning Blood = wtfhax. I killed like everything in one hit toward the end. Final boss gimmick is pretty interesting.

Demon Mode I'm mixed in my thoughts on. Gameplay is quite a bit worse because the enemies start just ramping up in levels and you have to level to keep up (blah), and it really devolves to Gideon smash since everything else is just less effective. Story is really hilarious sometimes (Galahad~) and really horrifying at others (Tricia). Galahad is the best because he sings and uses tildes and is PRISM BEIGE. Shauna is actually the most likable PCs, whic is so opposite of the normal route. I like the final boss series a lot; just fun seeing everyone back.

I'm not sure what I will rate this game.

Oh the game isn't a bad game Jim, it is actually really fun.  It is just the Character quests are kind of like your reward for doing well in the classes (do better, get more character quests).  For the reward to be boring old insulting tropes is just frustrating.

They're definitely hit-and-miss. I know early on I was feeling that frustration. Once I got some PCs I liked more they were quite fun.

EO2: Running two and a half teams right now.

Main team: Ronin/War Magus/Protector, back line alternates between Trobadour, Hexer, Dark Hunter and Medic.

Gather team: Survivalist x4/War Magus twinked for offense.

Amusingly the gather team is currently higher leveled, and likely will be until the three Gatherer Survivalists have 5x each gather skill.

Persona 4: Girl who dresses like a boy takes an envelope out of a shoe locker, looks concerned.  One of your dialog choices is, "Someone challenge you to a duel?"

Haven't seen any shadow girls yet, though.  Well, there have been shadows who were girls but, you know, not the way I mean.

I tried playing Uncharted Waters: New Horizons on my emulator. Holy shit does that game not make any sense without a manual. Also the UI is awful. But somehow it's actually quite fun.

If that's the one I'm thinking of, buy Glass Beads and unload them in Africa.  Massive profit margins when you're first starting out.

AT 2: Phase 5.  50k DP check in Luca's level 9, so that's on hold for a bit.  Also hunting down lvl 9 IPDs.  Nasty fights, but manageable once you know the trick.

FE9 - Fourth playthrough beaten! Game was crushed with the grossly overpowered party of Ike, Titania, Oscar, Boyd, Mist, Marcia, Kieran, Jill, Astrid, Makalov, Tanith, and Reyson. Fixed Mode, used all stat boosters. I almost made it through with no resets, although I should have had one against the Chapter 27 boss (made a bonehead mistake), but was saved by Miracle! Ike, who had been thus saved, went on to have similar luck against the Black Knight, getting the deciding Aether in the last possible round. Nasir got Resolve to help against the final boss, and was effective once I realised I had to Demi Band him to get the final to attack him. Did have one reset against the last map; the enemies there are a big step up and I underestimated them. My bad, but oh well - almost my first ever perfect FE run~

The playthrough re-affirmed that endgame level in that game is about 15; everyone was there, or close to it (Oscar a bit higher, for instance), except Titania/Tanith who were 18 and Mist/Astrid who were 20. Equal kills (when possible) and BExp for everyone! Top five was Titania > Oscar > Boyd > Ike > Marcia, i.e. proportional to the number of maps they're present on, except Oscar beat Boyd slightly due to better tanking I guess, and Ike missed a bunch of kills in Chapters 15-17 due to lol forced promotion.

Not at all convinced that Makalov is better than Nephenee, but he's still pretty damn badass in his own way. Titania and Oscar are the best characters in the game, and Reyson of course.

Phantasy Star 4 - Virtual Console just got better! Just got the ice digger.

It is simply unfair, Megidoradine gets stronger each time he use it, but the 6 or 7th time, it is massive OHKO across the screen. And blitzing him fast is impossible thanks to that stupid physical reflect.
I guess this means I have to abuse the turn delay effect of the Demon Lord class devils to the extreme, but that means training Astaroth and Hecaty up to lv.99 too....
In the mean time, I better make 5 or 6 more demons with Samacarem just in case.... and tag Victory Chakara and Victory roar to all my front liners....
God, this set up is going to take FOREVER to prepare.....

Got my PS2 working again so I popped in .hack part 1. It was one of few games I own that I only played for an hour to get a feel for and then never touched for ages. Beat the main story in ~12 hours and but it felt like it had only 2 hours of story-driven gameplay with the rest filler. Running through a generic dungeon to only get 5 lines of dialogue that barely advances the story is a terrible design. Also the battle system wasn't very challenging; the only place where I had to use any sort of strategy was the last dungeon, otherwise it was just have everyone spam skills and potions. Had to reset 4 times total, 2 on last area and 2 on the solo dungeon where I wasn't accustomed to using a potion everytime I took damage. However, I did enjoy the atmosphere and the story was decent enough so I ordered the other 3 sequels since I really hate leaving things unfinished.

Also started Valkyrie Profile Lenneth after finishing the extra content on .hack. I just started chapter 3 and the game looks beautiful. It took me a while to get accustomed to the battles and character customization but I have a pretty good hang of it now. I'm hoping all 8 chapters aren't all about recruitment and there is a lot more to the story past that.

VP1 has a story, but you have to actually find it yourself.  That's what A Ending is about; its you basically unlocking the actual story of the game, and seeing the game how its suppose to be.  B Ending is mostly just "Ok, you got to the end, here's a Final Dungeon and a Final Boss, and a half assed ending!"  C Ending is the token "You fucked up, here's an ending that mocks you"
