Zodiark: Final Eclipse. 999 damage, unblockable, accuracy/2 hit rate. Hits all targets on the field, including allies and user.
Guess which one of these has -absolutely no purpose ever-.

Zodiark is the FFTA2 version of toppling over the Monopoly Board in frustration, screaming 'I fucking HATE this game!'.

Except there's so many ways to abuse it that it's actually more like shooting you're opponent's queen in chess with an Uzi.

Also, Tal and I theorized the Bangaa just hit the enemy with jewelry while the flashy summon's going on. Makes more sense.

You clearly haven't upended enough tables while playing Monopoly.  I can tell you this, it is the absolute BEST way to win the game.

See, during the time period when I actually played board games, one of my dad or my brother would have whooped me for trying that. So... yeah.

Environmental Movements in Asia: Decent plot, but segregated chapters make it a bitch to get through, and I can't find myself caring for the omniscient-yet-helpless-in-a-fight narrators all too much. Wouldn't recommend this game to anyone else.

I'm forced to ask what this is just because of the name (even if it's not actually the name and is just some silly pseudonym you just made up).

It's the textbook I'm reading for my International Studies class. I'm trying to pretend it's a vidya game.

I played that one. It's got a steep learning curve, but it's really easy to break once you get to the midgame and more choices open up. The real fun is the aftergame though, kind of like a N1 game.

Time Hollow-

Well. The story... is decent. The gameplay... is pretty much nonexistant.

The story is unfortunately far too short, not to mention filled with either inconsistencies or overcomplications. The concept in general is somewhat problematic; hollow pens can only be used at the locations of flashbacks, and flashbacks are caused by people using hollow pens. We have something of a chicken and egg problem here Konami, unless this is supposed to be a stylistic representation of Ethan's noviceness which isn't actually pointed at in the game at all. To say nothing of them being magical pens in the first place... To say even less about how the pen will only work in the first place if they currently have the ability to change something pertinent at the scene of the flashback. These pens seem to have a lot of intelligence ascribed to them.

How exactly does Irving take over the life of Jack anyway, and I would swear that it's stated later in the game that people which have been removed from the timestream can't use hollow pens, so how the heck does he get to keep using his.

As far as the gameplay is concerned, there is very very little in the way of interactivity, which consists mostly of an infinite loop of 'visit every area and speak to everyone'. On top of this you have a certain amount of 'time' in which to complete each chapter, but due to the ability to use the pen being restricted to the correct areas and only when you have the ability to make whatever changes are necessary, you never get anywhere near running out and on top of that you can randomly find recharges.

I went into the game again and got the secret ending. I think the most charitable thing I can say about it is that they must have reversed the positions of the normal ending and the secret ending somehow, because the secret ending is completely worthless while the normal ending can be interpreted in a way that makes it work with the path to the secret ending but not the regular game path. It can also easily be interpreted in other ways, however, so.

Generally disappointing all up.

EO2: Briareus, Wyrm, Dragon and Drake beaten. Need to get the dragon optionals, but otherwise... I'm pretty close to completely done with the game.

Because its main theme song is in DDR:X?

(There's also a song for Castlevania: Judgment!)
Rocky: you do know what an A-bomb is, right?
Bullwinkle: A-bomb is what some people call our show!
Rocky: I don't think that's very funny...
Bullwinkle: Neither do they, apparently!

The Wild ARMs of Oz DS - ... that -has- to be the most bizarre movement scheme I've ever seen. Also, "YOU NEED TO DEFEAT MONSTERS AND LEVEL UP TO STAY IN OZ" is like totally faithful to the book. Doesn't seem too bad, although the game thanks God I mostly don't give much of a shit about the Wizard of Oz mythos in general.

SRW Alpha - Nearing the end. 62 was the last Macross mission - first half is 'defend one end of the map for 10 turns' which to me means 'see that dozen and a half battleships? Kill 'em all in 10 turns'. Which I did. Gloriously. Then... you fight pretty much the same thing, only you start with everyone at 150 Will and the enemy's Will is like 70, and Do You Remember Love? is playing in the background. Hahaha. *SLAUGHTERS*

63 IS NOT A MISSION. It's all dialogue. Screw you.

64 is a mission though! Asuka kills the Titans, then kills MP Evas, then gets killed by MP Evas, only not quite. Then Shinji pops up, followed by like 20 of your guys, all at 140 Will. Repeat the second part of 62 with Tamashi no Refrain as the soundtrack. Oh, and the enemies have AT Fields and HP Regen L, but two or three juiced up shots takes them down (Shuu and the main character can one-shot them). Asuka sure as hell caught up in levels too. Offensive AT Field is delicious.

You defeat monsters to -stay- in Oz? >.>;; Kind of defeats the whole purpose of the book, but whatever. I'd still like to get a synopsis on how they're mangling the story to make it a game. Also, apart from the weird turn system that Tal described once, I know nothing about the gameplay...

As a giant Wizard of Oz fan... I humbly request a longer review.

To be fair, when she arrives she kills one witch, then chases off a bunch of flying monkeys, then kills another witch. Defeating monsters to stay in Oz was obviously a secret mechanic to the world.

Oh, she also has to deal with the Witch's killer bees and wolves, which she actually kills. Not to mention the beasts in the Yellow Brick Road forests, including those Chimera-things (Kalijahs I think the name was, can't remember the spelling off the top of my head), and killing a wildcat for the crime of being hungry enough to attempt to eat a mouse (she was Queen of the Field Mice and all, but hey, the guy was just hungry).

But none of that was explicitly for the purpose of staying in Oz, more of a survival thing. The whole theme of the book (and movie) is that no matter how awesome and beautiful Oz is, Dorothy just wants to go home to her family. It's kind of what makes the book a little bit more than the usual escapist fantasy.
