No, not really. The game doesn't say "Sacrifice people to the Plume!" What it says is, from what I recall, is just "Make sure you're getting Sin to please Hel!" She then states two ways of doing it, either through Over-killing or using the Plume.
And I don't think VP1/2's Einherjar are quite the same as VPDS' pluming. The Einherjar you're encouraged to do and not only do you get rewards from doing it, you need to do it for the best Ending. There are other factors of course (almost all entirely FAQ Bait). VP2, the game pretty much just says "Do this for goodies, the later you wait, the more goodies you get!"
VPDS outright gives you an alternative method to doing it, and more or less says "Doesn't matter HOW you get Sin, just as long as you get it, she'll be happy." Logic was that Sin fills Plume with power, thus you get the Angel Slayer, thus a weapon to combat the Valkyrie. B Route, Wyl only sacrifices one extra person, but he still gets the Angel Slayer anyway, and is ready to fight the Valkyrie, just as been a theme in B Route, he's hesitant about going through with it, due to a moral conflict. Contrast to A Route where Wyl's been Pro-life/Anti-War the entire way through, due to the whole Failure Knight syndrome, so he's able to basically see that Hel and her minions are just a bunch of "HARVEST MORE SOULS!!!" dipshits.
I'm guessing the creators figured people would have a hard time on their first run and bank on Pluming to get them out of tough spots more, but *shrugs*
