NBA 2k9:
Welp. I'm in my third season with the Timberwolves, and I'm dominating pretty much everyone that has stood in my way so far. Exactly ONE team gives me any trouble whatsoever. I have been first in the Power Rankings for ten straight weeks.
I'm almost at the All-Star game, and if I don't get any players in this time, I am going to fucking scream. At one point, four of the top five MVP candidates for the season were all my guys. This still happens with some regular frequency.
My strategy is basically the same as before, except that Art Simon guy I drafted quickly developed an inside shot, and, coupled with his freak athleticism, is now completely unguardable. He cannot be stopped, period. He has like, 90 in speed, quickness, and leaping ability, and he's got a nice long body for his position. He's already rated in the 90+ range, so he's got one of those Superstar logos that attach themselves to guys like Chris Paul, Dwyane Wade, and LeBron James, only he's the third guy on my team to have one.
Very few teams have both big front and back-courts. So what this means, is that if the front-court is small, my short guys can overpower them, because they're still beastly strong, and Tayshaun Prince can still hook his freakish arms over a small defender. If their BACK court is small, Art Simon absolutely destroys them because they have no hope of getting a hand in his face, and with his newly acquired inside game, he can and will score from any position on the court, given just a little breathing room. I got seriously lucky in drafting this guy.

My nightmare team in this game is the Hawks, who have a lineup of:
Devin Harris
Joe Johnson
Corey Brewer
Josh Smith
Al Horford
with
Andrea Bargnani
compared to my
Sebastian Telfair (Too slow to guard Harris, nowhere near good enough offensively to beat Harris in any capacity)
Art Simon (The one guy who I can get points from against the Hawks: He's basically a bigger, BETTER Joe Johnson)
Tayshaun Prince (This is a wash. I can't have Prince guard anyone but Brewer, because Telfair is a liability on anyone I put him on. Brewer is built just right to mess up Prince's game. I can still score more than him, but I can't run my game through Tay in this place)
Kevin Love
Al Jefferson (Very similar players on my game defensively, and neither can handle Smith's speed and athleticism, and neither can handle Al Horford popping shots over their midget bodies all day. Worse, Horford is definitely strong and big enough in the post to harass my guys, and for some reason, I can't push Smith around down there either. My two greatest weapons are basically useless against this team.)
with
Acie Law IV (I actually traded Brewer for Law straight up, because Brewer was being a whiny little bitch. Unfortunately, this lets Atlanta bring Bargnani off the bench, who just does horrible things to my team. On the one side, I can push his skinny ass around in the paint and finally score with my bigs, but on the OTHER side, he's really tall, fast, and deadly accurate from a range my bigs aren't used to getting out on, defensively.)
They're my nightmare team, and they're probably who I'll be facing in the finals. I'm still not too worried about them, because if I control the game directly, I can generally get Prince and Simon going, but damn does this team seem built around destroying me.
