Nero's mode relies on the different abilities you can buy to add variety, problem being that most of them cost so much (I'm looking at you, three different skills I had to buy before I could use the ignition system properly) that you don't actually got to the meat of his gameplay until you're almost to Dante's levels.

Ah, makes sense.  I'm guessing that stuff will come in handy on hard mode, as a means to actually make use of a lot of it, while facing enemies competent enough to fight back, eh?

Yep. And very definitely in LDK, although your version is lame and doesn't include it.

Also, make sure to try out each of the special sword moves (Streak, whatever his High Time and Helm Splitter analogues are called, etc.) with gauge to see how their ignited versions handle. It'll come in very handy. And get used to tapping the L trigger whenever you hit anything with the Red Queen, for the same reason.

Half-Life 2: Got the Gravity Gun! Which basically turned the game into River City Ransom: The FPS. I find nothing to complain about in that. Then I got through Ravenholm and got into a dune buggy, which I do find complaint-worthy.

Devil May Cry 4: Finished Nero's Arc.  Still trying to get a hang on Red Queen, but I suppose that's not gonna matter for a while, since I know I now get a different character entirely! One I'm far more familiar with.

Echidna is the easiest boss in the series...DMC2 need not apply.  Really, I barely took any damage that fight barring one point where I screwed up badly, but yeah.

Credo was a decent fight, mostly cause he's a bit unpredictable with his lance throws (hard to tell if he's gonna stop at one, or hurl another one), and he's got some decent close range stuff, what have you.

Agnus wasn't much however, but at least he put up something resembling a fight unlike Echidna, and his last part of the fight made him a bit annoying to hurt due to his defensive game.

Red Coated Badass...um, ow.  It reminds me of ANOTHER thing DMC2 was lacking:
Kick ass one on one fights with another swordsmen.  DMC1 had the Nelo Angel fights, DMC3 had Vergil, DMC4 had this guy.  Damn stylish, and a tough yet fun fight.  I beat him on my second try, though, I went through nearly 2 life bars to beat him...more when you factor in DT Healing...

Demon Pope...well, lost my first time since I wasn't at full health.  Second time, when he pulled the statue stunt, I was dicking around a bit too much and died to a freak hit by his flamethrower move on me in the corner.  The 3rd time, I just stopped being silly and beat him down.  Easy if fun quirky fight.  I even DTed him on the final beat down!

Anyway, really looking forward to the Dante stuff coming up soon!

Oh, and Gloria's true form is somehow less fanservicey.  I know; its hard to go UP with her, but when you know her true identity, you get a voice of reason reminding "This is the LESS fanservicey outfit" <_<

Mana Khemia - Finished.  Game could have finished after TONY.  FLAY and TONY are the best things in the game.  Vice Principal is probably the best of the serious characters.  Fun game, but it really shows Gust just aren't good at polishing their games in ways they should.  Way to much stuff that they have got right before that is wrong this time, got some other stuff more right this time that they have got wrong before.  This is only really a problem because it doesn't feel like they are experimenting with anything this time (Story format with no main villain?  Meh it has been done before though.  I could call it on Torment parallels but that isn't fair.  TNO/TTO is a fair bit different, they ARE very similar in the department of having no real antagonist driving you, this is not something I am holding against it or anything, just something I thought of like right now).  Way waaayyyyy to many Anime tropes.  I dread when they catch up to more modern (bad) anime and Gust make themselves a Code Geass rip off (SHUT UP THIS IS NOT AWESOME).

Grow book eh, was very much not what I was looking forward to in from what I heard here though.  IT really really isn't anywhere nearly as compelling as the Sphere Grid.  Some of the items just seem really slap dash in their placement and there is no real correlation between the item and the bonus you get sometimes (Pelucidan is a prime example of both.  Item you get in the last dungeon in the game locks out an accessory spot that you got 3 chapters earlier or so and the ultimate sword for Anna gives +2 speed.) and there is no actual choice or consequence in what you get, enough AP to just get everything.

Game is alright and I don't regret playing it.  It is a fairly decent starting place for Gust games I guess, but it is pretty much inferior to AI2.  Better than AI1, but AI1 is far more experimental.  So meh.  Better than Ar Tonelico though.

Started!

I must say, this game is loads better then 3.

why?

Because I can bloody check attack percentages before attacks instead of guestimation concentration!

Also, it took me awhile to get the damn game working. What with the super speed, my brothers controller not fitting the socket (I had to hammer it back into the original shape!), and me just being new to this time of emulation.

In the end, I got it working, music, saves, and normal speed all a go go!

One thing, my game, some of the units seem to get unwanted pixels of different things on them every once in awhile. I noticed it first on the first map when Kamille showed up and there was a box type deal around his Gundam. Is that normal for this game or are my settings in need of tweaking?

~

In game, I just beat map 3. I took the Moon route, and lo and behold I am playing thorugh Endless Waltz! Trowa Barton, fuck yeah! His will be on of my first units to upgrade. The others can go die for all I care; and I can make them die! (Detonation)

I am 2 of 3 in mastery already. >_> I couldn't seem to kill pycho gundam no matter what I did. she took off when i got her around 5k hps and that was too much for me. Ah well. Also, the game didn't give me a choice between dificulties either.

Not sure yet about units, I was given a small pep talk on some of the units who are good, so i will keep my eyes open, but nothing is sticking out just yet.

Will put SN on hold yet again!

Many of the texture filters cause this as a side effect - I'm not sure why AG is more prone to it than most games, but it is. I've had good results with Scale2x.

AG is a little buggy sometimes, so the boxes will show up occasionally, like Shale said.

Don't worry too much about the Skill Points / Battle Masteries.

You can pretty much just upgrade whatever you want, the game isn't that hard at all times. Do at least try for some of the secret units though (Notably the Quebeley which is really easy to get)

Secrets
Skill Points
Other useful tips

Skill points...you don't want o kill yourself over them, but if you stay on Hard you get Sanger, who is absolutely ridiculous. But then you have to fight possibly the strongest boss form Shu has ever had, which is also ridiculous. Your call.

And here I assumed that those bugs are simply things that were caused by mucking around with the code in order to patch the text, since I know that LFT has some issues thanks to Cyril mucking around with names there.

Hmm...so I've now 1cced all of the main Touhous (6, 7, 8, 10, 11) on Normal...at full speed this time >_>.  Last was PCB because, well, I'm not that fond of PCB (I just find supernatural borders to be a dumb mechanic).  It was more of a "well, I've 1cced MoF and SA in the past couple of days at seemingly full speed; may as well break out PCB too; how hard could it be?"

Err...granted, for some reason I still can't seem to 1cc PofV on Normal, even though I've played Lunatic PofV and gotten decently far, and don't seem to have trouble playing it on Easy, and occasionally take games off of Laggy in 1v1.  Weird; but...yeah, doesn't entirely count.

BvS:  Back up to Jonin in S4.  Was going to do a Jannin run, but the timing was wrong and I literally had nothing left to do in Sp. Jonin.

PW:  Started as a Blademaster, did the level 19 quest with the gang, then made a brand new wizard and got it to 19 in 2 days and did the quest for it.  Wizard is a bit easier than BM, although if you screw up you're probably going to die.

PoFV is unbalanced for how it works. Enemies have an internal timer after which their AI gets poorer and they can actually get hit by normal shots. There's also a quirk where the AI gets poorer if you've died to it(On rematches, just for that enemy), and moreso if you're out of stocked lives.

If you don't care about some people who aren't here(I think) calling you cheap, use Aya or Medicine; Their attacks exploit flaws in the AI's perfect dodging that allow it to get hit more often before the timer goes up. (I've never gotten this phenomena. They actually can hit the AI decently, so they're cheap? >_> It's not like MarisaBug.)

XS2 - Aaaaaaaaand beat. Patriarch got badly owned by Inner Peace, but that's hardly news. More importantly, though, those final scenes were really embarassing. "JR. uses HO YAY! ALBEDO is charmed!" "PLOT casts NURSE on ALBEDO! It's super-effective!" "ALBEDO has fainted!" "cHAOS uses CONTRIVED FORESHADOWING!" "WILHELM counters with CRYPTIC GENERICA!".

And then, there was a really big prehensile pearled penis in space. That was epic, and apparently it's not even the beginning of the stupid. Um, wow.

Which is to say I still liked the game a bunch. Juli scenes were nice, gameplay was something I really enjoyed in spite of the lengthy battles (a XS game that actually does gameplay right, if imperfectly? Color me surprised). The plot stupid sorta went over my head in a trainwreck way, in that it was entertaining for all the wrong reasons. But um wow. I can't believe people had any faith this wouldn't end badly. >_> But I'm still to see the true epic, so.

DMC4: Just beat Echidna and got Gilgamesh.

Echidna was EVEN MORE pathetic as Dante.  I blame E&I being > Blue Rose.

Thoughts on Dante initially?

...its Dante.  He plays just like his DMC3 self, though, given the way he starts mid game with all of Nero's "EXP", he's much stronger than an initial Dante in DMC3, so you start off with stuff like Stinger 2 out of the gate.  Naturally, he just murders the early stuff dead.

Rebellion's about what you expect; its a DMC sword.  Balanced, needs Swordmaster for Aerial Combos, Stinger awesomeness, and...could you always chain that into Million Stab?  I dunno, cause I never used Stinger in that vain.  This is also the only weapon he gets (though I just got Gilgamesh) for Melee at first, so yeah.

E&I...uh...why did they become *FASTER* in this game?  I mean, they were already ridiculously fast in DMC3, they fire at such a rate that the enemies actually die in reasonable time with them alone (at least they don't just murder things effortlessly the way they did in DMC2, so you still find yourself meleeing things.)  The "Can Always Charge Shot" thing is nice, and I'm finding it a lot easier to control that Dual Shot feature from Gunslinger than in DMC3.  Still haven't gotten a hang of using Rainstorm effectively, but at least the move feels unchanged (and looks cool <_<)

Shotgun seems to have lost its knockback effectiveness, but at the same time, seems they increased its power relative to DMC1/3, so I guess it compensates.  In general, enemies aren't big on being knocked back cause there's a lot of defensive whores, so yeah, a knock back weapon wouldn't work so well, so making the Shotgun a Slower but Stronger, ranged sensitive alternative to E&I works well enough.   Seems to have been improved greatly in the air though am I just screwing up, or did Fireworks get nerfed A LOT?

STyle switching is cool...if only I could figure out the logic in the order used for them.  Many times I've went "ok, time to go to Swordmaster...NO! NOT TRICKSTER!" and such.  Styles feel fundamentally the same as DMC3, so yeah, that's nice.

Also, Dante's DT is just wrong.
Regen Rate seems as high as with DMC3 Beowulf, E&I under DT are reminding me of DMC2 where Guns = Win (though not as idiotic about it), Stinger got an improvement THAT IT DIDN'T NEED...and then Dante is immune to flinching and knock back.  Somehow, I think there's other fun stuff he gets in DT, and that's only the surface...
