ST - This game is fun fluff, all in all. Also does S4 plot better than S4 does. But then, SUIKODEN 4 PLOT applies. Anyhow, Seneca/Kika/Nalleo/Flare destroy worlds, while Eugene baits things so the aforementioned four can destroy worlds. Fun days.

SRWW - After finally finishing Gaogaigar TV+Final a while back, started this; up to chapter 20 now. Due to pesky deployment restrictions and a desire to abuse upgrade inheritence as much as possible, I'm only using Originals, Gaogaigar, and Astray. Stuff like the Tekkaman Blade cast and the Dynamics saved for my next playthrough.

Unit thoughts so far:

Valhawk is a solid real type; good mobility, transformed mode, two pilots. Weapons are only ok, but Kazuma getting early chain attack skill helps somewhat, since it has four of those. Tons of dynamic kills for extra style, though strangely not on its strongest attack.

Valstork is good at clearing randoms, though it seems to lack the punch to damage bosses much. Micro Missles is a very nice MAP, with ranged radial AoE and no friendly fire. Lack of any (P) attacks is its biggest drawback.

Gaogaigar is really badass on everything except range and movement, which can be fixed with FUBs. Great armor + Protect Shade to make almost every random tink, it can dodge surprisingly well for something with a low mobility base, the damage is excellent, and Gai's pretty accurate for a super robot pilot.

Big Volfogg is badass; really high mobility base, and its best attack is stronger than I would've thought before playing the game while halving enemy accuracy to boot. It counts as an armored carrier as well IIRC, just in case it somehow gets hit. Volfogg's also my first PC to get Valor, so for now it's my best boss killer (...).

Choryujin's something of an investment. It can both dodge and take hits with investments, but isn't particularly good at either at bases, so it requires heavy cash investment to really be effective. The upside is that upgrades are shared between it and Gekiryujin and passed down to Tenryujin later, so if all three are used (like I intend on doing) the cast efficiency is huge. Damage isn't that great, but the status is useful for early bosses and crazy stuff like the Behemoth from FMP. Decombine abuse helps with both spreading status and doing damage, also.

Mic Sounders has definately been the weak link of the GGG cast so far. +5 will from Disc P is a free action but not really all that big a difference, and Disc M alone for damage isn't impressive. Best selling point thus far is that Mic's got two SP pools, and being the only repair/resupply mech I've invested in to date gives it use at least - just not as much as the rest of my PCs.

Nadesico... ;_; Really ugly nerfing. No (P) attacks at all anymore, and down to just two pilots. Worse, said pilots don't have any of the good defensive spirits (Alert, Guard, Invincible, anything healing), so it's not even really usable without heavy investment in its HP/armor. Not really worth the bother IMO, and it drags the Aestevalises down with it, somewhat. Not that they needed more reasons not to use them!

Deathscythe and Sandrock are just barely passable. I used them early on when I didn't have anyone, but now I just deploy Quatre for his one shot of Bless. I'll pass on evaluating Tekkaman Blade, Mazinkaiser, and Shin Getter until next time, though it's pretty safe to say they're all going to end up broken in the long run.

@G: Holy crap, Shin Getter and Mazinkaiser are wrong. Ridiculous stats, great attacks (what's Shin Shine Spark doing here?), etc, etc, and I'm not sure when Kouji went from solid pilot to destroyer of worlds, but I've never seen an attack with less than 3000 power do 8000 damage before (Jet Boomerang, 2900 base). G-Bits look appropriately badass, and I may have to deploy all the Masoukishin soon to see their new tricks.

Got Powered-Up Mazinger Z, too, and it was a colossal pain in the ass. You have to keep Kouji alive for a turn when he starts with half HP, no way to heal (can't be targeted by Trust, and no healers can reach him), and only one of the six enemies guaranteed to target him can be taken out before they get a turn. Basically you need Mazinger Z to dodge twice in a row. That takes some doing.

Never did bother tryong for that extra Mazinger Z. I mean Kouji is the only person from that series that I even bother with.

Finally beat map 38. I focused only on the Turn X as opposed to trying to clear the map like I had done previously.

Afterwards I focused upgrading a whole slew of units whose limit was causing them to be in an evasion funk. surprisingly this helped out a lot of people who I was wondering why they were getting hit so much.

Also, got 2 Haros. Those things are awesome. Kamille and Masaki have them respectively. Now if only Masaki could get will easier he would rock so much more.

I'm leaning towards dropping Jamil from my band of merry men and switching in Shin Getter Robo.

I need this game finished before Fe comes into town! ARGH!

~

Notable series that need to be in this franchise: Transformers, Mighty Morphing Power Ranger, Exo-Squad, Escaflowne, Mega Man, and Xenogears...just to name a few.

Obviously some are stretching it, but there are a few that could easily make it into the games if they wanted to.

Escaflowne has been in once - one of the Compact games, I think.

Xenogears/Saga is a real possibility; KOS-MOS is in the OG Saga spinoff that's coming out for DS in April. Transformers is owned by a rival company, which has historically been seen as meaning there's no chance...except the same company owns Zoids, which will be in SRWK, so the possibility might exist after all.

Xenosaga is a definate possibility since it's Bamco property, but I seriously doubt Square-Enix will let gears out of the graveyard for SRW purposes.

This is a video of Compact 3. You can presumably see why I want a remake of it really badly sometime.

Exit Fate. Awesome Suikoden-clone indie game.

Must rank.

I have Fitch in my party now who solidly two-rounds the enemies a lot. Sadly, his stats are so terrible he needs to double enemies to do some damage.

IT has a pretty cool magic system: you need to acquire magic as an item. At the start of your turn you gain a preset amount of MP, which you can expend to cast spells. However, you can only cast a spell x amount of times, where x is the amount of times you've acquired the spell. Healing is a bitch if you only have one Healing spell. D:

Suikoden III: I got bored of playing the other games I own and decided to continue this. Last night I had just finished Chris' third chapter, was in the middle of Thomas' second chapter and everyone else was only done Chapter 2. Did all the rest, now on Chapter 4 with Chris as my main. I had to reset when I picked one of the options during her speech and she renamed herself Ryan... >_> I'm in some ruins in the underground highway next to Great Hollow. Sarah keeps raping me. I got fed up after losing for the 10th time, and went to GameFAQs, which keep telling me to use characters I don't have yet... Great. Time to go find all the stars that I missed.  Hurrah!

EDIT: And now, it seems, my PS2 laser is dying. It doesn't even recognize that Suikoden III is even in the drive now, even though I just turned it off an hour ago to take a break TT__TT

There was also a game for the GBA. It was also pretty bad, but at least Brain got a penguin costume.

Kirby SSU: Cleared Revenge of the King. While it was harder that Hard Mode on the original, it wasn't all that difficult.

Rayman: Raving Rabbids: I have six plungers.

Been bored lately... that means BG2 Expansion!  Naturally hardcore mode for me and my minions.  Any death = death for good, even if they are resurrectable.

Character = Gondora, Half-Orc master of the ranged weapon.  No bow or crossbow is too difficult for Gondora to use.  Her goal in life is to become as powerful as possible, so naturally the quest ahead will be to he liking.

Illasera fell easily enough, but Gondora is smart for a Half-Orc (14 int, yay rolling a 90), and she knows that the challenges ahead will requires allies, and that many of her former comrades will not survive the aforementioned challenges.  To that purpose, she is calling those that she won't mind seeing killed first.

The recently revived Sarevok, armed with the Harbinger has agreed to stay with Gondora.  Gondora knows that Sarevok will not be willing to serve her for long, but she plans to get use of of him while she still can.

Haer'Dalis the Tiefling was the second brought to join Gondora.  Although weak and annoying, Gondora assumes that Haer'Dalis will be excellent fodder for the more powerful attacks from certain enemies.  His sword Entropy will also make a fine collection to Gondora's armory.

The fighter Mazzy is the third piece of cannon fodder to join the squad.  True fighters use bows, crossbows, or axes.  This weakling will no doubt die early, but should serve a purpose for Gondora.

Every good group need a mage and a thief.  Jan will cover both of these for Gondora.  As with Haer'Dalis, Jan is a bit annoying, but he is an expert at what he does, and 100% expendable.  Assuming he can stay on Gondora's good side, Jan might live a little while.

While the first 4 members of her group are expendable, Gondora is hoping that the 5th member will live.  The Drow Viconia was a good comrade for Gondora in the battle against Irenicus, and is one of the few people that Gondora trusts.

Let the journey begin!

WAXF: Up to Chap 1-11.  Going through this game slowly, etc. but its still progress!

(I will note that my going through the game speed has little to do with my general thoughts on the game; just not in a massive SRPG mood +  PSP being something I usually only play when not home = me not playing a lot.)
