Finished Eternal Sonata last night.  Just when I think that the story couldn't make any less sense, there comes the ending sequence.  I liked the game itself, but the plot made my head hurt.  A lot.  Also:  Viola, Jazz, and Falsetto > everyone else.

Total time: 26 hours.

I'm surprised at how short Eternal Sonata was, but I'm glad it wasn't any longer.  Looks like I won't be playing through this game again.

Now that I'm done with ES, I'm playing Persona 4 on Normal.  I just defeated Yukiko with my characters around level 10-11 on my first try.

Jazz hype? Jazz isn't that great unless you want the HP badly. The damage isn't notable and the speed is painful. Falsetto and Viola are, of course, very badass.

Star Ocean 4: Reimi is pretty. Also has a Blindside that would make Rebecca proud. 100% Pyro approved. In all seriousness, the game is off to a decent but not great start. The cast isn't notable but works well enough for my tastes. I'm looking forward to seeing where the combat system takes me. The different BEAT modes (one offense, one defense) seem neat. Basically everyone can pick a mode and they get stat boosts in that mode. As they fight in a certain mode they gain levels in it and the stat boosts get bigger. They can swap on the fly, but without transferring levels. The stat boosts seem to be very significant, so the result is a neat system. My only complaint? Why the hell would they start Reimi in Defense while Edge is in Offense? Reimi's style is "snipe from afar without actually taking damage" while Edge is "Get up close and personal to melee enemies" so the opposite just makes so much more sense...

The reason Reimi starts out on Defense is because it builds the Rush gauge faster, which is much more useful for her than having an improved Blindside (which you will almost never use with her) whereas Edge is quite the opposite, and you can blindside like a motherfucker as him. The stat boosts are nice, but once you level the styles up a bit, you get the extra abilities (increased rush and improved blindsiding are the ones I have so far) that really make them worth it. Still, they level up pretty quick, so you might as well trade back and forth every once in a while rather than sticking to one. That way you can also use the neutral style effectively.

Speaking of SO4... they gave me something BETTER than a .45 auto, they gave me a kickass giant cyborg with a mega man gun arm to make up for the stupid little girl they put in the game when they were busy forgetting the lessons that Wesley Crusher and Anakin Skywalker taught us about children and outer space.

I'm at the part where Edge is busy angsting. I don't really LIKE that it's happening, but at least the reason is good this time. It's not every day you fuck up the Back to the Future scenario that badly.

In general, still pretty happy with the game. It's fun to play and it doesn't take itself all super-serious and melodramatically like SO3 did for much of the game. It is... a loving homage to sci-fi through the fucked-up lens that is Japan. We've already hit the planet with talking dinosaurs, the Crapsack World, and travelled through time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get to visit two Gangster planets and a Cowboy world at some point.

Also, Edge has a move called Stampede Slash. I use that fucking thing religiously.

So, uh, when do I get to increase the HP of people? I just finished Chapter 1, I think.

Ar Tonelico - Finished both Cosmospheres and the Virtual World. Shurellia is a certified nut once she opens up. Which is appoximiately 100x better then the Loli-Ice Queen I was expecting her to be. Overall, I think she and Lyner deserve eachother the most. Take that as you will.

Inside the Silver Horn right now. I'm having people die in here from time to time! ...exclusivly from what appear to be ID attacks by physical immune enemies. They still get nuked by Shurellia and then everyone gets healed and we go on our merry way as if it never happened. Easier then Grandia 2? Quite probably. But this is most certainly not news to anyone.

And Boxey. Oh sweet mother of frak, Boxey. And Adric. Kids and space just don't mix.

On a related note, I hate Rob because he's playing SO4 and I'm not because the stupid shipment didn't come in. I also don't have a copy of SF4, so I've been playing a little SSFHD. I'm getting my butt kicked in Easy Arcade Mode as I'm trying to get the Akuma achievement.

The stat boosts from the BEAT modes mean more than anything early on.  Who needs Blindside or Rush when you can just kill everything with one physical combo from the stat boosts?  Hell, I don't even fill up the Rush gauge in any random battles.

Sure, that probably tapers off later in the game, but at first those skills aren't as useful as the stats.

Gatewalker:  Shurelia?  Nutty?  She's pretty normal.  And boring.

Persona 4: Am I the only one who knew Naoto's secret before any mention of it?...

I mean, the moment I saw her, I was like "Hey! Its some chick that Kanji's hanging around with. Cool. Wait, why is he so embarrassed?... Wait, why is everyone calling her a he?..." I dunno, it was just always apparent to me, just curious if anyone else thought the same thing. Maybe its because I don't know Japanese names that well and "Naoto" didn't sound particularly gender lop-sided to me, so I didn't have that clue to tell me "Its a boy". Still, I can't believe no one else in game realized this...

Anyways, Maxed Justice and Heirophant Social Links too, and have beaten the Secret Lab. Just got a note from someone in the mail. They don't sound too happy about me saving people.

ROTKVIII - I have most of the land yet Cao Cao heavily out-numbers me. Damn Cao Cao for having the meat factories of the north.
I'm not completely finished yet however as even with 900,000 men waiting outside Wan he still can't take it from me.
My only hope is that his force suffers food shortages so my besieged force can break past at least back to Yang. I'm currently trapped in Wan wih no successor which is bad because I'm Cao's sworn enemy meaning if I lose Wan I lose the game.
My son enters the game in about 7 years meaning my ruler needs to hold out for quite while because currently I'm being battered on all sides and Can't help him.

Also started a new game. Playing as Zhang Xiu I have the imperial seal and have disposed the emporer. All of China is now together in the common goal of stopping my evil. All I can say to them is good luck in getting past Hu Lao Gate as my 2000 defence gate can beat back any army no matter how large.

BvS:  OK.  Getting Sannin and Top3 on Wil was a lot easier than I thought it'd be.  So was getting Feud Starter (What with a team of Bones/Right2/Twins).  Now I believe I'm gonna work on getting monster drops for a while...  But I do still need to get Lulu.

Rez:  Beat stage 5!...  And apparently, that's the last "story" mission of the game.  I looked at GameFAQs and there is FAR too much to unlock...  And some of the requirements are rather unfair.

Disgaea 2:  Haven't gotten around to it ever since I subdued my first Adell Lover.  1-2 seems to be the perfect spot for farming them, and I still haven't played map 6-1.

Epic translation. Ashley comes off as so incompetent. I can't tell if this is intended or just a really bad translation. Lilka and Brad are doing... okay as characters so far. I'm more attached to them than Rudy!

How am I supposed to win against a Pokemon with godly Speed & sleep moves when I've only got some Lv 1s with decent moves through lucky breeding?! >.<

TotW:RM- In Doplund now. I wave goodbye to the nice cast of Reid, Arche and co to hang with Stahn and Leon... Hilarious game though, if a bit tedious. The skits are far better than most of the TotA skits so far. My favorite is the one where Arche is daring Kratos and Lloyd to eat her horrible food, and after they faint, Reid comes along and eats the rest and says it's great, resulting in an Arche squeal. Classic setup, but still funny.

Is it raped specifically?  Even if it is that's just a minor twist on a fairly standard electra complex, nothing too eyebrow raising really.

Tal: Wha? I, uh, dunno what to tell you then, man. I found her quite a bit more amusing then the other two girls(not nessesarily more likable, mind. just more amusing). I'll chalk this one up to different senses of humor, then.

Soppy: Okay, could you test something kinda vague for me? Get both Stahn and Leon on your team, and see which one of them dies/needs healing the most often. I found that Leon, despite having worse stats then Stahn at nearly everything, almost never died and Stahn got himself killed contantly. And this wasn't a one time thing, this behaviour was very consistant througout the game. And yeah, both on the same AI settings. I talked to Xer about this awhile back and neither of us could figure out what was up with that. So I'm wondering if they're like that for you too, or if it's just my game somehow.

Honestly, they are actually pretty fun places. The fight against Vashj is so hilariously gimmicky, but it makes for a unique and even somewhat challenging encounter at 80.

Kingdom Hearts: Neverland. Halloweentown was fun, but sadly this stage is mostly bullshit. Cramped environments with lots of enemies do not get along with KH's camera issues.
