SRW AG

Just beat Magus. She was easy, the fight before where I had to deal with her and the three jabronies from OG2 was not fun. Had a couple of resets on that fight.

Spoilers! But not really since everyone here told me he'd be showing up again. Plus he came with some friends? This should be interesting.

SRWZ Special Disc: Played around with the various modes and stuff. Story mode is neat - the first scenario has you playing as Titans, original villains and Nirvash Type-theEND, for starters. Puzzle mode is probably cool but will have to wait until somebody translates the objectives. Line art is cool. There are three different battle theater modes for some reason - two that are the same as what was in OG Gaiden (I really can't see the difference between them) and one quick-play version that lets you go straight to a unit's attack list from its encyclopedia entry, and then watch it use whichever attack you pick. Given the ridiculous amount of options in the regular theater, that's nice.

So .... no PAL release for SO4 till June now? RAAAAAAAAAGE!

Maybe they'll fix the goddamn freezing issues.  And maybe add some goddamn polish.

P4-About to go thorugh the Secret Lab. Levels are 40ish.

S. Links maxed so far are Magician, Chariot, Priestess, and Hermit. Justice, Hierophant, Lovers, and Emperor are all about to be maxed as well. I still haven't started Death, Tower, or Moon. I really feel like I'm doing worse as far as S. Links go than P3, which is odd since lots of FAQs say P4 is way easier to get a lot of S. Links on. Maybe it's just me.

Stats...Expression is at 5, everything else is at 4 except for Understanding, which is still at 3 for some reason. Should max Courage fairly soon.

Game has been damn funny recently, and on the whole the game is much lighter in tone than P3. Which makes sense I guess so far it's just a murder mystery and not The End Of The World As We Know It.

I think the pacing of the game sorta slipped after the Void Quest. Maybe it's just because I cleared it on the first day it became available, but you had months of absolutely nothing going on plotwise, which is fine for maxing stats and S. Links but it sort of just felt like the developers couldn't think of anything to do then.
Don't think of it as a novel. Think of it as a chance to retroactively win every argument you have ever walked away from.

Every single timespan between a dungeon and another is like that if you clear it too fast. Huge amounts of "you're waiting X person to recover" spaces open up. It's the nature of the beast.

WAXF: Finished!  I know you're expecting an all out Meeple rant...BUT TOUGH! YOU'RE NOT GETTING ONE!

I'll just say a few thoughts:

Some potential mild spoilers, etc. READ AT YOUR OWN RISK, yada yada yada.

Final Team:
Clarissa (Dandelion Shot), Felius (Extremist), Labyrinthia (Elementalist), Levin (Sacred Slayer), Ragnar (High Cavalier), Alexia (Nightstalker...go figure, she mastered this class RIGHT AT THE FINAL BOSS.)

Good stuff:
-Core Gameplay overall
-Boss Fights
-Music
-PC Tony

Bad stuff:
-Gimmick Maps
-Wasn't a fan of the cast overall.  They weren't bad or anything, but they...I dunno, just felt lacking, at least, the PC cast.  Villain cast was somewhat better!
-Tony being a crappy PC

Overall, probably 8/10.

Well I know, but at least then you know something's going to happen once they're up and running. With the Void Quest aftermath you're not waiting for a new party member, or...anything. As far as you know the game's finished and the "waiting for the police to make their move' message it gives you doesn't make any sense. It's just weird. It's also way longer than any possible "waiting for X to recover" period, unless I'm mistaken.
Don't think of it as a novel. Think of it as a chance to retroactively win every argument you have ever walked away from.

TotW:RM- So. In stark contrast to the rest of the game, which is a cakewalk...the final boss Widdershin, despite having the silliest villain name since Toodles, is an utter, utter, UTTER bitch as a boss. He tears through your PCs as if they were tissue paper (not that that's hard, since you can't, you know, give them any sort of equipment), his moves have stupidly large hitboxes on them, and he does about, oh, three or four times the damage of any other boss in the game. Per hit. Mrf. His pattern is pretty easy, it's just also very easy to get caught in a death combo, which is maybe one or two moves depending on what he decides to use. Luckily he has some bad ones/easy to dodge ones that he uses pretty often to lessen those odds, but... mrf.

I think it's like a point some angry programmer wanted to make to his boss. "Hey, you know those minor flaws in the game you said wouldn't matter? Let's magnify them 100x for the final boss and see who is right."

God Hand - Now that I have options in my moves, this is really hard.  I just beat Elvis for the first time, and I got the Reverse Sweep (replaced Barrel Roll Kick), and the Yes Man Kablaam (which has replace the roundhouse kick).  Honestly?  I'm not sure I want it, since I'm really good at High Side Kick Cancelling, and I've gotten far too used to the Roundhouse Kick.  I've given up on the KMS run for now, though.

BvS - OK, applying liberal amounts of Terri3 to Kaiju is fun.  The most recent drop I got for Wil will make things FAR easier than normal.  Irwin's hunting for J-Diddy, and Jack's bored out of his mind.  In other news, I might have gotten Jack possibly kicked out of Godaiyou for a little rage-induced rant in posted.  He's only missing 6 Kaiju drops, though, so...  No biggies!

Agree 100%. What I hate the most though is the "huge sword of DOOM from the sky" move of his. I was a theif meaning it was OHKO... to the whole party. Fail.

The game sucks, but I knew this, but hey, at least now I don't have to have this sneaking feeling of "argh! UNFINISHED GAME!"

SO4- On the 4th floor of the 7-Star Ruins. Second boss was pretty damn hilarious, and somewhat difficult. In general, though, the bees are still the scariest part of this place. Fortunately, I have found their weakness: CYBERFACE.

Unfortunately, you basically HAVE to play as him because the AI plays him terribly. It uses his normal attack, even though his dashing attack is faster, has longer range, and does just as much damage, and of course, can be done while dashing. As a result, his arena fights pretty much play like Mega Man X now that I've discovered this awesome attack.

Wait, you didn't try to see who else besides Reimi had Sidejump attacks on getting them Rob? You MISSED the fact that Bacchus cosplayed Megaman for like the entire game? Despite apparently using him constantly?

I'm not sure whether to feel sad or amused. Either way, welcome to the Bachus dashing physical hype train!

I hope you're backing that up with Atk Up and Critical and stuff.

SO4: I think I'm losing my vision. Wonder why. Oh right it's because I'M TEARING MY EYES OUT AT THE HORRIBLE PLOT.

Theatrics aside, I really am disgusted at what they did. The game started out competently enough, and just spiraled into hell after Roak. I don't want to spoil the debacle for others, so I'll just leave it at "It's really really bad."

Gameplay is a little better. The combat tends to be fast paced, which is a plus. Of course a part of that is because Reimi and Scythe-boy just use Berserk at the beginning of a battle and range-spam everything to death with unbelievably powerful ranged attacks. Or in Reimi's case now unbelievably powerful ranged attacks that travel to their target piercing everything in their way and are wide enough to hit 1/4 of the battlefield. Oh and then I got a skill called Atk Up that grants +10 Atk to a stat that is around ~1000. I leveled it up once and it granted +40. So I leveled it up twice and now that + Berserk's Atk doubling + innate high crit multiplier + skill to raise that and the % of crits + Focus to raise the % of crits still more = damage too high to count.

How broken is that? SO broken. Pun intended.

Outside the novelty of breaking the game like a pinata at a kid's birthday party the experience has been largely negative. The attack twinking means randoms don't put up a fight, and bosses now can't do anything either, so the result is a pretty lame "Berserk -> own everything" process that has since overstayed it's welcome. SO4 is likely to end up behind Blue Dragon for 360 RPGs despite the prettiness. This is not a good thing.

FSN - Been reading this recently, about halfway through Fate route. Don't think I like it as much as tsukihime, characters just aren't as interesting or entertaining and they haven't been using the setting as well as I would like. Also DEAR GOD SO MUCH EXPOSITION WHY it was bad enough in tsukihime, Nasu really should just learn how to put details into less words in his works. Other routes may change my mind on the game overall though, so I'll keep an open mind.
