tl;dr version:  By all that is holy turn the volume off on your DS and just play the soundtrack CD in a CD player.

BUT BUT CAPTAIN K THERE'S A TALKING MAIN WITH VA NOW.  THIS IS A HUGE STEP UP FOR THE SUIKODEN SERIES.  YOU CANNOT JUST IGNORE THIS.

It's finally been dragged kicking and screaming into the mid-1990s!

By the time the Captain's kid is out of college, Konami may even reach the age of voice actors who aren't moonlighting from their regular job as the office janitor.

That's called Suikoden 5. But this just highlights Konami's intense need to be schizophrenical about their games.

Spider-Man: Beaten, got what I assume is the good ending (given that I chose only "good" choices). Game had several cases of slowdown towards the end, optional sidequests that seemed to just go on and on, and it crashed twice on me, but I'd still place it in the top half of games with Spidey that I've played. Probably about a 7/10.

MK: So I'm getting close to Heaven's Gate's Boss in Chap 5.  Like, I'm in the room where he is! I get into one of those mini boss battles (you know, the randoms with the special battle music?), and I win it, right?  Except the game FREEZES.  At first I thought it was typical MK PSP Lag fail...but then the game didn't move for 5 minutes.  Oh, the music was playing, but nothing else was happening.

...and I don't think there was a single save point in this entire long trek of a dungeon.  Having to redo ALL THAT combined with the randoms all taking a decent length of time...well, can you think of a better turn off to a game?

...no, Xenosaga 3 plot is not applicable here.

Megaman 9- Maybe I just suck at this game now, still haven't beaten a boss.  I know the game gets easier when you JUST BEAT ONE!

Try Galaxy man.  He's pretty easy once you get his pattern down.

Yeah, Galaxy and Splash Woman are the two easiest bosses with just the Buster to start off. I don't think Splash ever deviates from her attack pattern, so if you can get to her with at least one extra life, just spend the first one watching the pattern and crush her.

Eternal Sonata- New game+ Rar increased difficultly level. Bosses seem actually challenging now, at least the first one does. Of course I'm only L2!

P4: Managed to beat the steamhouse as well as the optional boss in the Castle.  Also roaming around completing quests, for all that the Angel Statue is proving, difficult.  I know what I need to get, it just refuses to show up.  On the other hand, the game has handed me two very nice SP boosting weapons for my main healers, so it's all good.  I also like the fact that most of the S Links I've been going for so far have had nice secondary effects, from raising stats to unlocking fun options in battle.

That said, Sun is proving to be trickier to move forward on than anything else I've tried thus far, which is irritating.  Spent almost no effort on Priestess and it's at Lvl 5, while Sun's been my secondary priority and it's only at 6 (granted, first priority was Strength, and it's maxed).  Hermit, the one really worth caring about, is at 3, and I know roughly what to do to get it to 4.  Just need to pump in the legwork.  Sun may be about to drop in priority since it seems a decent number of S Link options fade away on rainy days, and that's one of the few I have that doesn't, meaning it can wait.  Likely means a Chariot or Priestess focus, followed by Magician and Emperor, determined mostly by who has been asking for, and levelling up on, my sundays.

Anyways, hitting mid June and the plot is beginning to say that I'm going to have a new dungeon soon.

Pokemon LG- Done. Elite Four were.. pretty damn tough in fact. I had a couple of resets there. Team was the starters, Articuno, Alakazam, and Raichu for the final arc. Standing by the 6/10 score.  Enjoyed the gameplay, didn't get into the way hardcore fans do, also did not try much in the way of catching either. Probably will blaze through the other editions sometime for voting rights on the others.

Super Mario Kart- Played this a little with Ciddy and VSM. Failed miserably at racing, did better at battle mode.

Year 1000; Month X Day X

Ashley and I have decided to become Monster Ranchers. The 2 of us. And by the two of us, I mean I suggested and ignored the look of shame and distress Ashley made.

We went to the shrine today and picked out our monster. A Stinger (Naga/Zuum). Quite ornery and belligerent. Strong-willed and straightforward though. We opted to name him Aiel. I hope we become great trainers!

Month X Day X

Training is going well! After a slow start, Aiel has progressed to D Rank by crushing the opposition! I fear I'm being too soft on him though...

1001, Month X Day X

Sad days. Between an injury and advancing to quickly, Aiel is struggling and growing more belligerent every day. I'm worried about his future. He doesn't seem to like me very much.

1002, Month X Day X

Correction. He doesn't like me very much.

Month X Day X

Aiel has been feeling ill, but I'm hoping he can make it to B rank. C just isn't his friend.

Month X Day X

*sniffle* Aiel... Aiel is... *sob*

Month X Day X

*sniffle* Ash... Ashley helped me cope and we will go to the shrine today to get a new monster. *sniffle* RIP, Aiel.

Month X Day X

Let's welcome Dune~, a Frozen Gaboo (Gaboo/Tiger) to the ranch!

Don't think of it as a novel. Think of it as a chance to retroactively win every argument you have ever walked away from.

MK: Don't know how I mustered up the ability to do it, but actually bothered to make up lost ground already.  Actually reached a save point this time, so if the game freezes, my progress will loss will be far less!

VPDS - Beaten the A ending.  I think I generally do like the fact that the three paths show, consistant and believable development for Wyl, but also have the version of the chapters you go through be thematically consistant and not overly trite.  Be it the cost of power, conscience vs. duty, or redemption.  Definatly my favourite Tri-Ace game for writing.

Also started the Seraphic Gate.  All I have to say is that the writing here is still good.  Just, wow did they ever let the writers go nuts here.  Figure I'm going to use a party of Wyl/Ancel/Huegot/Liese until I get more interesting people to replace them with (Ancel has already been replaced, though he may get his spot back).

The spear UOM destroys SG. His combo power is just too insane. 300+ combo is easy with him. On the other hand, the last boss sucks as a PC.
