SoA: Wrapped up the moonfish sidequest. Attempt to redeem Ramirez through backstory = failed. Beat final Piastol, completed the crew and found all discoveries, then headed to Soltis to stomp Ramirez. Not difficult in any way, but that describes most of the game, right there. The optional bosses put up a good fight, at least. (Note: I didn't bother with air pirate Vigoro. The requirements for that are just insane. I'd have to grind until I'd killed another five hundred or so enemies just to unlock him. Like hell I'm doing that for just one fight. So yeah, that form's illegal on grounds of obscurity, as far as I'm concerned. He can take his plot form and hang out in Heavy with Decus.) Amusingly, David Bowie's "Be My Wife" came on right when the ending of the game hit the Enrique+Moegi part (followed by "A New Career in a New Town" for the credits run-down of where the characters went after the game!) I'd thrown a bunch of CDs in the stereo before playing, just a funny coincidence that Low was going that time.

Fun game. It's fluff, but it knows that it's fluff and it is determined to be the best mindless diversion that it possibly can be. I could gripe about getting bogged down by randoms when looking for discoveries, or some balance issues like item-casting making magic mostly not worth using, but meh. The aesthetics of the world are great and made exploring just for the sake of seeing what's out there fun in its own right. I can overlook some minor flaws for the sake of the game having so much personality. 7-8/10 quality, I think? Somewhere around there.

Ramirez is totally gay for Galcian.

Crisis Core: Oh yeah, I finished this too. Not much to say, really. Strikes me as very average on every front. There's nothing especially bad about it, it just...failed to capture my imagination in any way. Nothing clicked. FFVII just didn't have a sufficiently vivid setting to support all these side stories. Genesis in particular was underwhelming--every time he showed up, he'd be spouting poetry, and Square's writers just don't have the chops to make that sound decent. I just wanted him to shut up. The ending was handled about as well as could be expected, I'll give it that much.

So yeah, PSP/Gamecube need to be returned now. It'd be awesome if someone was passing by my area on the way to/from DLcon and could just pick them up, but it doesn't sound like that's the case.

TWEWY - You know Joshua is broken when you still S Rank battles while fighting half-asleep and not even seeing the screens straight.

PoR - Beat the second circus portrait. Holy Water is a pain in the ass to master.

PW1: Finished. 5th case was great. Looking forward to borrowing PW2.

No real comments. Necessary game (or type of game) for the medium to mature storytelling wise. Kinda want to see a similar game with a serious storyline; it could be a really good game, if written well enough.

Beat's better when you're doing some of the aftergame bosses and such. Joshua gets interrupted before he can Jesus Beam; Beat's chipping is faster.

Wouldn't you just use Shiki instead, though? She has invinco frames and Beat sorely lacks that.

(AND I think she's a bit faster than Beat to boot. Christ.)

Is this another excuse to hype Hotel Dusk? Yes it is. Play Hotel Dusk. The "game" is not really there (and I enjoyed PW gameplay), more like a collection of lame puzzles, but the plot is actually good. And mature. One of the rare games whose plot doesn't need the "video game curve" to score well. Art style is pretty cool, as well.

KHII: TRON is finished. For now. EPIC ANSEM PLOT TWIST came, went, and nearly put me to sleep before they shut up about it. The invasion of Hollow Bastion was pretty darn cool, though. Shame Sora has to fight the thousand Heartless alone, I was looking forward to powering up Wisdom Form there.

Sorry, let me clarify, you use Beat's jumping attack to dance on boss's heads. Shiki's ground attack is better than Beat's, but her air game is terrible.

Exit Fate, or as I like to call it "the one good RPG Maker 2000 game besides Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden." It's kind of like a love letter to Suikoden complete with pictures of your genitals inside.

You actually still want to use Josh for the after game boss fight. Why? He goes up and down very fast and can stay up if he needs to. You can't imagine how useful is that in that fight. And tag a few equip that shortens the command tree, and you are all set. The biggest problem in that fight is your upper screen when you can juggle the boss to death at the bottom, Josh is the only one who can evade the attacks reliably in that fight.

Beat's actually a better character than Shiki. Better attacks, decent guard etc..... but his poker game is horrible. It damages you if you don't reset it quick enough. That really distracts when you are doing after game fights, where you attention has to be assigned precisely between screens. The few extra seconds you spend on salvaging his poker game eventually become really annoy. I eventually stop using Beat at all.

In Fire Emblem Wii, do I miss anything (story wise, character wise) if I just stick to normal difficulty as opposed to hard mode?

No differences in terms of content between Normal and Hard. Hard just features no weapon triangle (for some reason), lower Exp gain (particularly Bonus Exp), and slightly higher enemy levels/numbers.

Star Fox Command: Felt like gaming yesterday, didn't want to play anything on the PS2 because the washer was running and it was loud, so I started this. Fun game, despite the ass-backward screen placement (all controls except firing are done on the touchscreen, and it's the "point the stylus where you want to go" variety....so let's put the action on the top screen! Genius!). The strategy format is pretty well done, and the differences between ships matter. Finished Aquas before calling it a night.

(Oh, and I did make sure I've got a working copy of KHII, so that is getting finished, Meep.)

No weapon triangle does make the game harder (since it's something you make more effective use of than your enemies in general for a variety of reasons) but it also removes strategy from it. Really baffling design decision there.

Yeah, that's about the result I'd expect. Lame. If anything, I'd expect them to have the AI exploit WTA more, but that would be work.

PoR - lol weapon grinding. At least I mastered the Bible and the Holy Water, but the Cross is a ways away. And then, there's the javelin. God, the javelin blows.

On the other hand, you know what rules? Charlotte's MT nonsense spellset. Does she -have- straight offense spells that aren't fast?

P4- I are the suck and lost to the second boss in Yuki's castle. Well Chie was still alive ;_; Why did I pick Normal mode again? I'd severely depleted my item stock by the time I got to the boss, oh well. Also what's with these camera angles? Other than that been enjoying the game so far, it's fun~

Chie is awesme, everything I hoped she'd be and more (a nice surprise to me was that she equips shoes! Guess who else does that!? Yes, Chie is definitely CT bait) Teddy is sooo cute and Yosuke is yummy. Dojima is sooo Snow. Actually that's kinda scary if I think too hard about it.

Yuki is ... I'll decide whether or not I like her or not game thanks very much! I am trying to give her a fair chance~
