If a game is Metroidvania with guns, doesn't that make it Metroid?

Two differences:
1. Metroid has lasers.
2. Shadow Complex seems to be a good game.

Metroid has laser GUNS.
And Metroid is not a good game, it is a great game.

Persona 4: I spent a new record-high (for me) of 18 hours straight playing this yesterday. Rise & battle!Teddie get, seems like I've progressed into what looks like the second section of the game - where I'm practically done collecting playables (I know there's one left, but still) and am actually starting to look at the suspects. I just wish I didn't know the killer beforehand, as I imagine it'd've been an awesome twist. :(

Not really. At the point where you discover the true identity of the killer you can easily guess it simply by having nobody else with a portrait (and therefore plot importance)  to implicate. Everybody else is either on your team/in your family and therefore innocent, or already suspected and proven innocent.
Don't think of it as a novel. Think of it as a chance to retroactively win every argument you have ever walked away from.

TWEWY is amusing. 90% of the amusement comes from my utter inability to coordinate dual-screen real-time battles.

LD: Welcome to TWEWY. That's pretty much the point - I just jammed left/right constantly and focused on fighting w/ Neku with my right hand. It takes a lot of time to get used to both screens - I'm still not fully able to handle both.

I actually set up the pins so I can randomly slash the screen and get stuff done while attempting to combo off the button presses. I accidentally kill the Noise half the time while trying to get through the combos with this method, so it must be doing something!

(Yes, I am a button masher in fighting games, why do you ask? <_<)

I'm playing TWEWY too. My main strategy is mashing left or right, or randomly slashing the touchscreen while paying attention to the top screen. It works! I've gotten into the second arc while keeping my HP around 400 or so.

Late on Week 2 and forever on Week 3, a bit more attention to the top screen will be required (Week 2 because Joshua requires you to levitate to go lolbroked and the auto doesn't like doing it, Week 3 because Beat's fusion mechanics are failure). Mashing left/right when you're just trying to pump out offense is usually still most time-efficient.

* Taitoro is also a button masher in non-Smash fighting games! So I can definitely see it. >_>

Setting Neku to pretty much be slashnkill is also a good idea, since it's usually far harder for the Noise to kill him due to his mobility/tendency to fly around hitting stuff. So.

As someone who can sort of play fighting games, I imagine that I'll have the same strategy as everyone else if I play TWEWY.

I should see if any friends own it...

Persona 4: Oh what the fuck. Screw you, Mitsuo, and your MT Fear followed by KILLING ANYONE WITH FEAR. Throw in that the Hero's basic physicals are apparently Almighty instead of Physical and... grah. Probably easy with the right preparation (although my lack of a Fear blocker is annoying...) but the first runthrough was just irritating. Shame, P4's been better for SMT bullshit up to this point...

Also, out of curiosity... "Mitsuo the Hero"... I'm sure that's a reference to some game or another, but no idea what. Anyone?

Other than that pixelated monstrosity being a clear nod to 8-bit DQ games? I dunno.

The whole fight is a joking nod to old-school SMT interface. The party is represented as enemy icons that were present in SMT1-2-IF.

Mm, I remember hearing that the fight (and.. the whole dungeon, I think?) had a lot of references to the original SMT games, but... I swear there's some retro game that had a main called Mitsuo. Ehh, could be wrong there.

My suggestion on Subasekai's dual screen battle is simply shift your focus base on the light ball.
Consider the light ball is your biggest source of damage, keep your attention on it doesn't hurt.
And for the screens you have shift your attention away from, in Neku's case, just have him slide, lolo long invionci frame, and even better if you have Velocity Tackle on. Or you can prepare few full screen attack badge, twister is hand in cases like this. As for upper screen, just keep on guarding, or levitate up and down if you are using Josh.

Mitsuo the Hero ... ah yes that was the fight I made my Ose for if I'm remembering right. Power Charge abuse oh yes <3 Helps with the do XXX damage before the shell reforms flag. I remember when without fusion abuse the shell reformed a third time ... OHHH MY SPS! MY SPS!

Urghh having to deal with the upgraded shell's MT spell too <_<

RANK Mitsuo THE HERO!

The killer is easy enough to guess without being spoiled yeah.

Even from very early on I was like this guy is just *too* nice/goofbally and then when I saw him doing the lollipop man thing outside Rise's bit it just kind of clicked ... a FAQ/super confirmed my suspicions. Though I also thought it might have been Dojima just for the SHOCK factor and that it would've turned out to be a real tear jerker if it had been.

Heh, he actually managed to build up the shell three times when I finally beat him. That said, I did also end up using a Soma at some point during the fight as a result...

P4: Priestess Social Link MAX. Amaterasu get~! Aww, Yukiko's so adorable.
Oh yeah, is there any problem with having multiple intimate relationships on P4? It strikes me as odd that you can, but at the same time, I get the feeling it might be necessary, let alone tolerable.
