So yeah, quirky game with a different battle system that is totally worth the time to play?  Just putting it out there that more people should really give EA a spin.

Spent most of the past weekend playing Clannad since my home internet is screwed up somehow.  That was a long game, but awesome.  I think it's my favorite VN now, though the final True ending seemed a bit too abrupt.  Good grief, though.  11 different paths for different characters, then an after story with the canon heroine, which also ends the story for half a dozen minor characters from the game.  It's not all romance, either, which is nice.  A lot of the stories are intertwined and make a big picture of who your character is and how he got to be that way, and how he continues on.  Great overall if you don't mind reading like 40 hours of text. @_@

Eternal Poison- Finally moved past the Doom Shade stage for Thage. Had no way to remotely capture him though, and forgot that if you don't capture him and just kill the battle moves on. At least I did manage to capture 2 monsters, although again general blah to enemies having healing (And other enemies on the map targetting captured monsters with magic!).
...into the nightfall.

Holy Jesus Christ on a bike, Drakengard is really fucking violent. I mean, this game's a 16+ produced by Squenix, so expectations were never gonna be high, but I'd really forgotten how brilliantly sadistic this game can be.
As said, been using a guide to unlock weapons so that I can see the final ending, and some of the conditions to unlock them are just hilarious. Here are just a few of my favourite points:

 - Leonard's Regret has a huge section that's particularly interesting. In the first, your key targets (the ones that have to be killed to progress) are young conscripts in the Imperial army. The entire stage consists of Caim endlessly killing these child soldiers while Leonard, a random ally, refuses to fight and insists that it's cruel to kill them for just being children. Every time you kill one set of targets, a new set appears with a message saying something along the lines of "Despite their age, they're still bloodthirsty hounds of the Empire. Send them back to Hell."

 - At the start of the next stage, there's an event where Leonard refuses to kill a child soldier. The soldier then becomes a zombie and summons a load of ghosts to kill Caim and Leonard. Moral of Drakengard - never trust anyone.

 - And the next stage was nice and normal, but there's a weapon to be unlocked here! The condition? Explore the entire stage and kill all the child soldiers. Man, this game loves its child abuse.

 - And now, I'm working on getting another bonus weapon. This stage has a total of 275 enemies throughout, 11 of which are key targets (8, then 3.) To get the weapon? Kill the 264 goblins in under 6 minutes. I've failed it three times so far, but goblin killing sprees are just so much fun.


This game's made me realise just how much I enjoy watching violence. It's kinda worrying.

Fallout 3: Started a new game and I'm going to try to play a neutral female. Unlike most people, though, the main problem I'm going to have is not being too good - had to basically steal the contents of a few houses to bring me down after 101 and saving Megaton.

Welcome to everything wrong and stupid about Fallout 3 morality.

Never had that happen Dhyer, but I run the game from memory stick.

One of my favorite FO2 mods leaves negative karma the same, but reduces the positive karma gain by half.

If Goto is tall, dark, and bishy, why the heck does he run around in a fursuit? How does he even fit in that thing? Bafflement.

Actually, it seemed strange for that cutscene to show up in a post-credits sequence. I got the impression that I completetd the character quests for three PCs (Chloe, Pepperoni, Goto) and wasn't really expecting anything special at the end along the lines of MK1's variable ending. If that's what that scene was, I have no idea why it picked Goto.


Anyway, I've already managed to create Lily's second-best weapon. 300 MAG in chapter three. Pity the midgame.

This is why I need to play Drakengard 2. It apparently explains this. I have no idea how that's even possible.

The ending you get is determined by who you talk to first before heading to the final dungeon, out of those you've finished all of the CQs for.

...Well that's random. I only talked to Goto first because he was closest to where Ulrika was standing after the cutscene. I thought it strange that he got a mini-cutscene there and no one else did. Now I know why. Oh well, at least it answers the question of what's in the suit.

Well, the elf eventually got eaten by the babies though, so everything works out in a karma cycle.
And the only explanation from the second game that might be relevant here is that the babies are not unleashing the the fires of hell, but the heaven...... and you can actually create a bishie by cooking the incestuous sister and the psychotic rival inside an egg.

You do realize Golbez got nerfed in more subtle ways, right?  Such like Genesis Rock doesn't work as well as it use to (one example is EX Mode breaks out of it completely, instead of nulling it for a second and slamming you.)

And Flare being reflectable IS a big deal. As a good deal of characters have a boost in their priority, Mateus now have more people who can reflect his Flare out right.

Let us make a list of character who can easily reflect Flare now.

Cloud- Cross Slash and Braver both works wonder
Terra- Tornado spam literally shuts down Mateus completly.
Golbez- Night Glow is broken as usual.
Garland- Earthquake has big enough hit box to send Flare away at relative ease.
Frionel- Master of Arms works quiet well, Xer had teach me the lesson.
Sephy- Hachitou Isan's priority boost makes him Flare reflect happy. Hell, it makes him get pass most of the mines too. Goku Mon has a better hit box this time also helped that. Amaterasu is just a bonus.
WoL- Sheild of Light is quick and handy
Onion Knight & Butz- I need not to explain the brokenness of Cyclone Slash, this is something that even bypass Chaos's Shinbatsu.
Zidane- Sutra Circle and Grand Lethal are both quick and accurate
Squall- Revolver Drive and Blasting Zone can send Flare flying before it remotely gets close.
Exdeath- Delta Attack. And Flare is saddening slow that All Guard actually works.
Kefka- Havoc Wing is like Earthquake with even better hit box
Cecile- Saint Dive is just another Braver
Jecht- Jecht Block, and rest of his HP attacks. Emperor losing to him in that plot scene makes perfect sense.
Tidus- Despite making Charge & Assult an independent has spawn argument, but it clearly makes Emperor cry.

This is what... 80% of the cast? And good deal of them can erase the Flare and the Mines in a single strike.

The Witcher- Finished. Quite an ending, and the way you form it is, surprisingly, the product of your actions across the game, and not just the last ten minutes. Though, the Grand Master's true identity hints were a bit unsubtle for a game that otherwise excelled at it.

Genesis Rock is also easier to dodge, it does not home in on the target when the rocks fly out (They fire off in set directions now, IOWs), and the raising rocks come out much slower.  Golbez also moves slower during the move as well; its considerably less powerful than it was in the Japanese Version.

No, Flare being reflectable is NOT as big a deal as you're making it out to be, NOW THAT HE HAS AERIAL FLARE.

Just cause you CAN reflect it doesn't mean the person will get that chance.  Look at how Emperor Fights; he's constantly applying pressure.  The way Flare works is that it sneaks in on the guy while they're busy dodging the death field he makes.  There are only a few characters whose reflecting attacks mock this (Terra's Tornado is an example, but...Terra crushes Mateus without worrying about Flare anyway; his issue is that he just doesn't do well against ranged opponents, given they don't rely on mobility as much; you know, this is to be expected of someone who rides on taking advantage of the terrain.)

Furthermore, the big isssue with Emperor was NOT that Flare was reflectable; it was that it was his ONLY GO TO HP ATTACK, and it was GROUND ONLY.  He couldn't do shit in the air; he had to hope the person lands and then hit them.  However, now with Aerial Flare?  Suddenly he can fire off a move that reflects OTHER Projectiles, sneak in on a close range attack, the Aerial Flare serves an extra mine that while the person is busy avoiding the ground flare, accidentally lands into it...I could go on.

You really underestimate how much Emperor's Aerial Flare improves him.  It sounds like "Oh, just one more move, yawn" but in reallity, it compliments his fighting style so well, its not even funny.  FURTHERMORE, the Aerial Flare can't be reflected; it gets nulled out...which is hardly an issue, cause he can just fire another one on the spot, and its like nothing bad happens, and the reflecting attack will likely subside by then.  Again, only a few characters can realistically pull off these blocking based moves without danger of being hit by something.

Also, Niu, congrats; you're the first person to hype Cyclone Slash.  It is generally considered a bad HP Attack with so many god damn flaws, and one of the easiest things to avoid.  Its also among one of the most predictable moves ever, and its not even that good on priority either.  The move has a lot of issues, so no, don't go "I do not have to explain the brokeness."  The only thing its good at is tripping up the AI...which only really worked in the Japanese version, as the US AI avoids it consistently now.  In the end, its just a Tornado/Genesis Rock wannabe. So it can shut down Chaos' Attacks! ...um, most characters can dodge right away from it, and nail the character with a ranged attack; its actually pretty awful at shutting those down.

Cross Slash also has issues; while Cloud is reflecting Ground Flare...Emperor gets a free Thunder Crest on him.  Braver is a different story, but again, you can't just go "This move works, therefor, its a good option!"  In the case of Cross Slash, that's a PERFECT BAIT opportunity for Emperor, Flare comes in on Cloud from a distance while he's on the ground, he tries to reflect...oh look, Thunder Crest or Sticky Bomb to the face, now Emperor gets a free shot.

Again, you're looking at things way too simplistically.  "Flare is still reflectable" actually has applications now that Emperor can USE TO HIS ADVANTAGE, such as baiting.  True, he's completely boned against someone like Terra who can stay away from him, and still reflect Tornado, but that's what we call "Counter Picking."  Most characters cannot in fact apply these reflectable moves as reliably as you want against someone who actually can use Emperor.

Oh yeah, another application of Aerial Flare?
People use to be able to dash through his mines, so if Emperor was in Air, he had nothing!  Now, if they dash to him...Flare to the face!  Again, don't underestimate how much a "Go To" HP Attack in the Air helps him.

Errr... Gensis Rock never homes in directly at the enemy. EA version just relocated the drection they are shot out. I do notice it got slower, but so far, it didn't pose much problem to me it. But that mgith be becaue I use it completly for countering purpose.

Oh so English Dissidia community hates Cyclone Slash? News to me.
As far as my experiment has go, it didn't got nerfed fromt he Jp. ver at all, it still has ridiculous invinci frame and the Melee-Stronng priority once activated. I agree it is too slow for direct offence, but it is the best ocunter offensive move right after Night Glow, send whatever attacks coming right back with relative ease. Mateus would cringe when fighting a defensive Butz or Onion Knight.

And you make Thunder Cresting a Cross Slashing Cloud is very easy. Due to Criss Slash's reach and Thunder Crest's slow start up, there is a 50/50 chance that Mateus himself would eat a Buster sword to his face. and using a Sticky Bomb is even more dangerous, there is the chance even that gets reflected along with Flare.

And you should realize there are a lot more character who can safely sut down Emperor's Flare even without a good range game. Say Squall, Frionel, Garland, and Jecht, who can just wipe Mateus's traps clean with their ridiculous large hit box high priority attacks. Revolver Drive esepcially (shock, this move actually have use!!), good to clean up the field when you have too much mines flaoting around. And then you have characters who are not very good at infight, but still has ridiculous anti Emperor move like Sephy.

And there is characters like CoD, who can already make Emperor bleed due to her superior range game despite unable to reflect Flare (clean up with Expanding Wave Cannon, and then sends out Scattering Wave Cannon). And now she can pounds him even harder as Zero Type Wave Cannon has that priority boost. (albeit require some aim)

Though, I agree areial Flare is good at preventing dashing though mines, just don't see it make a difference when the clean up moves are good enough in themselves.

No, Niu, you...don't understand.  I'd get into why but its clear you have no clue how to use Emperor properly, and stuff like "Cross Slash has 50% chance to hit!" is proof that you're using him wrong, cause fuck if Emperor is ever going to be anywhere near Cloud.  Simply put, Firing off Flare blindly is not what you do with him.

MK2: Raze chapter three or four or something. Game's starting to wear on me, honestly. Cast is less endearing than MK1's, and there's just not enough different mechanically for one path to still be entertaining once you've played through the other. Honestly don't think I'd bother if it weren't necessary for the true ending. At least it looks like it'll take about half the time to do the second path, but that really just means it's grotesquely easy (moreso).

I was dissatisfied with Mulan's world. Also, what is going on with Winnie the Pooh and 100 Acre Woods? Are the pages something I'm going to find going through the entire game, or do I have to go somewhere specifically and use Chicken Little? I'm in Olympus right now with Auron win.

You'll find the pages just going through the game, as long as you explore the areas reasonably well. I don't think any of them were as hidden as KH1's were.

For whatever its worth, Idun, you do revisit every Disney World at least once, so there's still some Mulan left for you to see!

And none of the "You must keep Mulan looking manly, as so she doesn't get revealed!" nonsense that the first half had, which has the added bonus of "She has all her skills the entire time!"
