Well, I'm new, but quite experienced in game-playing, and this is probably the best place to introduce myself.

Right now I've been on a gaming streak with cortex command. Blowing up people by shooting them with a gun has never been so fun. Also, I've been playing crusader kings, trying to build up a kingdom to port over to EU3.

I wish my 360 was still working, because the day I bought Mirror's Edge was the same day I found out I got RRODed. Also, am really looking forward to Mass Effect 2. It can't come out soon enough.

Also, hello to all you peoples.

New people is always a fine thing. Hellos.

RRODs are not fine at all though, so good luck with that.

Playing Persona 2 Eternal Punishment again. I'm slowly coming to a realization that SMT games hate teachers. There's never been a playable teacher character, and apart from the occasional NPC-in-distress, the teachers are generally the villains (right alongside demons). I mean, P1 had the Snow Queen quest. And the principal was a bad guy in Persona 1 and both Persona 2 games. And in SMT if..., the science teacher lost it, roboticized himself and became a recurring boss (and could be the final depending on what path you take).

I'm just... feeling kind of oppressed. ;_;

Given how the general idea with SMT seems to pick teenagers as their target audience, I'm hardly shocked. >_>

Bah, they gave us a playable Reporter, Policeman, Robot, a DOG! They can give me a PC teacher after this many games.

Wild ARMS 3 - Facepalming action!

One-man army Clive continues his journey. Walk softly and carry a big gun.

Mono-eye Guardian: It's stats supposedly increase by 10% every turn in battle. However, its pretty easy to wall thanks to having acquired a) Valiant and b) Moon Spark. Dark Ward at max + ATT Blocker, go go go.

Hecto-eye Guardian: Weaknesses inverted! Same strategy applies though, right down to the exact set up. Easy battle. Thankfully after the Huskarls.

Asgard 1: This form of Asgard...well as Meeple put it, sucks. It sets off its invincible barrier every other turn or something, so you only get a few chances to attack in between. Doesn't matter though since you have the reset of the time to cast whatever you want (Heal/Shield/Turbulence). Just need to attack when the barrier isn't on. Alternatively...well, you'll see come Asgard 2 when he's not patternized.

Schroedingers 2: Going last kinda has this huge disadvantage where your actual HP isn't what it says on screen since you kinda have to factor in the amount of damage everyone can do, since you can't heal until everyone moves (and if everyone attacks you, then well...yeah). Which is what made this battle tricky. If everyone utilized their best damage, I would be 3HKO'd in reality. I would also need a lot of Potion Berries. Thankfully, Personal Skills make this battle much much more managable. Set up Fire Ward/Dark Ward/Confuse Ward and either Water/Earth/Wind Ward. If you have additional skill points, grab ATT Blocker. This shuts down one of Shady's attacks, most of Maya's attacks (she can rando choose elements, but warding off 3 of 5 at a time is pretty good) and occassionally stops Todd's attacks until you can kill him. Fire Gems again because Maya can cast Reflect. Once you set Todd's afro on fire, attack whenever you get the chance. Almost every turn will be a Heal Berry if they do not run into your defenses (so hopefully the do). If Maya/Shady run into your PSes, then you only really take damage from Todd (and Alfred, but Alfred). A lucky crit makes things faster. Once Todd is dead (and you'll be really happy when he is), remove PSes from ATT Blocker and Confuse Ward and put them onto other elemental blockers/Counter Attack if you're using Wind Ward as well. Then either gun straight for Maya or take out Shady as well since his breaths add up if they don't run into defenses again.

Diobarg: Sucks. He uses a paralysis physical and RAM which deals like 80 damage against my 1300 HP. Um...yeah. He basically fails SO bad, that one of my underlevelled mediumless PCs actually lived and got EXPs.

Fortune Gear:
Critters/Griffins: These are actually sorta tricky. Griffins love casting Turbulence. You need Wind Ward on at all times because Storm Blade hurts and a team of Griffins and Critters can debuff your MDef and then rip you apart with Storm Blade. Turbulence also makes things really annoying because Critters then gain double that of Clive's AIM. Yeah. They reach around 240 Evade. So, take out the Griffins ASAP (should be able to OHKO). Clive magic sucks, so stick to physicals - they should still have a decent chance of hitting even after Turbulence. Then either wait out the critters or actually use Lock On here.

Oliver: This boss is awesome. He uses an attack called BWAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!! (exact spelling!) which hits you for like 13HKO damage. However it adds disease! Also, he can POIZN you afterwards and seems to have no other physical attacks other than that. Block Disease/POIZN and mock/EXP multiplier farm.

Janus #whatever: Highest HP set up walking. First thing you do - Eraser. Use FP Save if you have to to reduce the cost, although you should easily have the FP for it. This drops his damage down to OMG 5HKO or something. In short, he sorta fails. Of course, you take HUEG damage turn 1, so you'll probably need to heal. If you have okay luck (normal or better), considering casting Protect, then Valiant and watch as his piddly damage starts upping yours very quickly.

Faraway Lands
Unknowns/Vaccumons: These things wouldn't be a problem - but Bronze is an annoying status. It's also not worth setting a Gear slot because it comes up like never after this dungeon and has a grand total of 4 turns before it even takes effect. By themselves they're fine but...combined them with Vaccumons on a Clive solo? Fuck.dat. You either force yourself to set Bronze Ward (...) or get Ejected, because there is no way you can heal Bronze/finish the battle in time before the Vaccumons eject you from the dungeon. Oh and Vaccumons have GRAV, which just rapes your VIT. Not worth fighting at all - definitely skip if possible.

Asgard/Melody: Um...holy shit. So, you see all those joke fights before? Yeah, so WA3 decided to kinda up the ante here. Don't really see a problem in this fight normally, but with one person? Jesus. The damage racks up so quickly. Melody deals like 250 damage. Asgard with Barrier knuckle deals like 350. So together they deal around 600 damage a turn. I have 1500 HP Max. Doesn't look threatening, but when your speed isn't good, it creates problems. Most notably being that if you're at 700 HP or so, yeah you can live through another turn without healing, but then you get outsped and thusly owned. So my realistic durability here was just bad. Oh and the other thing? Asgard loves to fucking spam that barrier this battle. There's no telling when he actually drops it, so if you fight him upfront, this gets ugly VERY fast. The key of course is using Valiant. But even then, you need proper set up - Chapanaga is pretty much essential because of Luck Boost. This makes the buffers last longer and should (SHOULD being the key word) make your evasion more noticable. Definitely helps against Barrier Knuckle since evading = yay. Next, since you're using Valiant, you opt for as much HP as possible. Thus, you use Flash Hit/Moon Spark/Terra Roar. It's not really worth casting Protect, although you can. The plan is as follows:

Turn 1 - Do whatever. Defending against Barrier Flood and eating it straight up seems to result in the same damage ( I suspect this is actually a gravity attack that does 35% of CHP). Best thing to do would be either to cast Turbulence/Protect or Valiant. Probably Protect.
Turn 2 - Throw a Mini Carrot for more defensive power.
Turn 3 - Use a Heal Berry if your HP is still around 700. Potion Berry otherwise
Turn 4 - Now would be a good time to start attacking
Turn 5 and on - Check HP and status. Make sure Valiant is on at all times if you plan to attack. If you're HP is within range of 700 or lower, you'll have to take a risk. If you attack, you'll deal quite a bit of damage, but also run into a chance of losing. Asgard does seem to have a fondness for spamming the defensive Barrier however, so it's usually better to take the risk then not. At worst, if you're playing more defense and are attacking him with more HP, wait until you 100 FP or so. Clive's ARM should easily be empty and there is no point in reloading since you're relying on Valiant anyway to get through the barrier. This will give you a 5 hit Gatling. If you have 700 HP a this point (or lower) you pretty much win since each hit will do 800 damage or so. Asgard only has 4600 HP.

Asgard 3: Uh...and back to more fail. The only thing he can do is IRON FIST, which deals 10HKO damage >_>. Well plot reasons!

PS: The status screen lies by the way. Best Luck and having modest evade (121 EVA to 88 Hit) and I got hit like 5 times in a row, which cost me a reset :/.

PPS: The field randoms around this area are so very dangerous. You have Trilobites around Little Rock who have a HP-1 attack and go before Clive and a Grav casting cat around Humphrey's peak. This makes this place very unsuitable for solo Clive unless you want to get killed :|

Orgy didn't seem that bad in Days really.  Half of them die in the first two hours, Axel is pretty much a main character and as such doesn't act much like in the other games, Demyx and Luxord are vaguely amusing and inoffensive, Xigbar's kinda cool actually, which leaves... Xemnas (small role), Xaldin (yeah, still a douche.  Fortunately not around too much) and Saix (pratically the main villain, such as the game has one).

I'm sure you just hate me more, but meh.

Ahhh I knew Snow couldn't resist Tallychu for ever ^_~ Have fun with the AI games!

Didn't read all of your ranting on MK2 NPCs because spoilers but yeah good stuffs.

Welcome to the DL Inteuniso =-)

A post for my own amusement: Things I have found that indicated that S4 is the equivalent of the shortbus for RPG design/programming.
--Multiple secret weapon stats (Eva, Acc, Crit?). To make this more confusing, I believe enemy also have some sort of secret type which then interacts with the PC weapon secret type!!
--I have seen a character with 3 speed go before one with 140 speed.
--It is very common in randoms for characters with more defense to take more damage (At certain points). Throw the defense buff on them and watch them take even more!!!!
--Against some random spellcasters, there is an Mdef dead zone. A character with 130 Mdef will take 30 less than one with 100! A character with 30 Mdef will take 30 more than one with 60! The characters with 60 and 100 Mdef...will take the same amount! This is true across multiple randoms.
--Sekret elemental weaknesses on armor.

Ran across the defence thing myself and yeah. S4 is awesme like that! >_>

Persona 4

Tinker tinker. Red Leaf shoes then Moses sandals. Mmm nice. Moses sandals w/th Power Charge + God's Hand. Veeery nice. Chie randomly hit for liek 5000+ on a random what the hell. Souji has his ultimate sword from Reaper too. The Reaper is surprisingly easy. Maybe I waited too long until fighting him? Team was L68 average for the first attempt. Defeating him a third time is a bit of a pain though trying to land the final blow w/th Naoto.

P2 EP: Oh Persona 2, you scamp. You've made Internet Anonymous into a character. A useful NPC, no less. <3

VPDS: Finished B Path, working on A Path, chose Natalia/Earnest's chapter 2 this time. Forgot to save before the last battle of the chapter and Natalia went and got herself killed before I could get there. LAME. Had to start over from the beginning of the chapter. That'll teach me to not save just because I'm destroying the game with Caduceus.

Also, despite all my over-powered tricks, B Path's boss put up quite a fight. Had to restart once. Note to self: Don't leave enemy mages alive EVER. Healing 80% of a final boss's health is just fighting dirty.

Noticed that Heugoe is actually a boss in this path. I really don't see why he's being considered an 'obviously bad ranking idea'. He's just borderline, really. He's one of the few PCs who is actually tied to Wyl personally at all, as his mercenary commander -and- the one who found him at Ancel's big death scene. It's not like I'm hyping DARIUS for ranking, who's barely a blip on the plot radar even in the path where he becomes a PC...

...So, all that's left for me to do before Van is farm Grade and grind recipes.  At least it's decent timing practice.  Manual would be better over Semi-Auto for that, right?

SRW Alpha - So... is 10 more hit rate REALLY worth costing 10 more EN and 5 more Will than Zeta's big guns, F91? Really? Otherwise, getting better and better units. Burning now occupies the V-Dash, while Usso runs into things until I get the Assault and Buster packs. Actually, I was expecting V2 to crush things on its debut, but it ran into Ramba Ral. Unfortunately, he didn't forget to fight this time, so Usso only narrowly avoided a spanking from his Gouf.

ZZ is good fun if a bit sluggish, and the Hi Mega Cannon will be seeing use in bigger, later maps.

Still not sure about Dancougar - on the one hand, dies easy. On the other... split and attack and recombine and attack more and Bestial. Whoooo hello damage. Underleveled pilots are quickly solved with some Effort.

Dunbine units are speedy little bastards, but Cham's voice makes it hard to watch their attacks >_>

Topping it all off, flying Eva-02.

Mana Khemia 2: Beaten, thoroughly enjoyed, etc...

MK2 delivers on what MK1 did well: a comedy RPG that focuses on having a fantastic battle system. While it still has some of the issues MK1 did (notably that enemies are too weak to really stand up to the system with a few notable exceptions), the game is just a blast to play.

MK2's plot is not something that can be taken seriously. And that is okay, because it was bloody well designed that way. Honestly the core plot is just lip-service to certain RPG cliches, and are very standard in design. The execution is what sets MK2's story head and shoulders above something like G3. The game, knowing that it is a comedy, cranks the elements for it up to 11 and doesn't look back. The result is a zany adventure that is fueled by a completely insane cast. Well, almost completely insane. Raze exists and he adds a kind of anchor to the sea of wacky, which makes for an amusing juxtaposition. Chloe serves the same role in Ulrika's path, with the caveat that she is just along to watch all the ensuing suffering rather than fulfilling an obligation to a batshit crazy boss like Raze is.

Villains paint this picture well. Reicher is a likable fellow who seems to be a bit airheaded. SEEKING THE ULTIMATE FIGHT comes off as more a satisfying hobby than some kind of powerful driving force. Sasalina just wants to get laid. Tetri is just doing her job and fulfilling her inner desire to glomp cute things, and the big bad final boss... well, Snow covered that pretty damn well in saying that he is meant to fail it up and succeeds in doing so spectacularly.

Honestly with Flay playing such a massively dominant role in setting up the happenings, were you expecting something OTHER than glorious hilarity?

The combat system is as sexy as MK1's, but with a few minor differences that mostly come out for the better. For starters, there is a Hard mode that you should keep on at all times to add to the challenge and enjoyment factor (and give you more AP). The game also cuts back on your free AP and makes you choose how you will upgrade your PCs. By very endgame you can fill up their entire grow books, but up until then your characters are shockingly malleable without being generic. The game makes added effects to items less a process of transferring good and better skills to stuff and more a process of selecting a few innate skills in weapons/armor/accessories and working with them to find combos you like. This works very well all things considered. The game also made Common Skills far, far, FAR more powerful, adding to the customization aspect while retaining uniqueness by making some characters much better with them than others.

I mentioned that the game was still too easy, and while that is true, the malleability of your characters means you may encounter more or less challenge at various enemies (well, until you get doublecast with Puniyo and make everything ever explode).

MK2's biggest downside is the nature of the dual-path being about as repetitive as Odin Sphere with twice the total length. This is a massive turn-off, and I'm kind of appalled at the nature of this. That said, both paths have unique bosses so you can certainly have some fun even on a second playthrough. And the Extra scenario for beating both paths is made of sexy awesome.

All in all MK2 was a fun game and one I'm extremely pleased to have played.

Oh, and speaking of games that are repetitive due to multiple mains running through the same dungeons...

Eternal Poison: Beat it.

EP isn't a game I would recommend offhand to someone, but I did enjoy it all in all. Thage (yes, the evil loligoth), is an extremely enjoyable character and the combat system can lead to some decent SRPG combat. The repetition is cranked up to 11 though and that is very frustrating when you are literally raising the same characters from level 1 to 20 as many as 3 or 4 times.  The plot was fun enough in a generic sense. That is to say, it entertained without being too deep or well developed through the liberal use of Crowning Moment of Awesome. Thage and Rondemion especially have moments in their stories that I will remember for a long, long time.

Gameplay, like I mentioned, is standard SRPG fare but dear fucking god did it need damage projections. Overkilling Majin without those sent me to an Excel spreadsheet too many times. That said, once you are comfortable with the progression you can abandon caring about capturing enemies and get to the business of setting up a strategy and executing it to devastating effect, which is really why you play SRPGs in the first place. The game can be played in a number of different ways ranging from levelling up everyone equally by using combos to hyperpoowering one PC (Thage Thage Thage) and making stuff explode with them. You can also use summoning if that fits your fancy.

Like I said I wouldn't recommend this to someone but I don't regret having played it.
