MF6: Highlight of the game is the Shady Thousand and/or the Tutorial House. Lowlight is the lack of Team Turban blasting off again.

Tales of Bread - This game's villains are so pathetic. It's like Namco was looking at Klonoa character design's reject bin and they decided they'd save time and resources by recycling a bunch of clowns for this.

Oh, right, there's a game. Just got Deus Ex Machina'd into Harriet's lap and now began babysitting.

That looks better.

Fuck ToL. It was like Suikoden 4's "hey let's take out anything that resembles complexity or character customization."

Even Tales fans agree.

A few of the characters were kind of funny at least...

As opposed to all the Tales games with exciting, thought-provoking gameplay.

I find the tales games to have generally fun gameplay, yeah. It may not work for you if furiously jacking it to algorithms is your thing, but it's better than sitting there watching attack animations.

Thought-provoking I'll give you, but there are far more boring battle systems out there than combo-based A/RPG. For instance, XS1.

KotOR: Because I was on Steam yesterday for Monkey Island and noticed this was all of ten bucks, so hey. Running a scoundrel, grabbed snipe feats and paired them with the sith sniper rifle for nutty critrate hijinx. Of course, now I'm on Dantooine and have a lightsaber, making me wish I'd invested more in melee feats, but eh.

Is it rubbing it in to mention that it was one of the $2.50 deals a few days ago?

Sure, if you want to be a jerk.

Also, it's a good thing there's no mass media in the SW universe, or the first mook on the street would've recognized the MC as Revan.

I should prolly grab KotOR and KotOR2 for the PC sometime, if they're on Steam. I really want to play them, and have them for Xbox...but can't play them on the 360 since I can't get the damned thing online.

ToL - Bread racism or something. The villain cast continues to be laughable.

Also, for the complaints about ToL removing complexity and customization, I'm shocked that there was -any-, at least looking at the Tales games I played (TotA's excuse for customization was, besides a cheap setup for a Guy semi-infinite, meaningless. ToP had none, ToD Swordians were worthless for customization depth, ToE had none either). >_>

El Cid- oh, there's mass media.  Just, he was into cloaks and face masks BEFORE he was evil, and I doubt an ends-justifies-means warrior turned Sith Overlord grants many candid interviews anyway >.>

Personally I don't find that ToL suffers compared to other Tales games in customization; it tends to be very linear stuff in which you either get the good stuff or miss it, nothing worth bitching about.
The problem with the game was they kinda fucked up enemy design and made blocking common to the point of frustration; enemies tend to laugh off your attacks and wail on you quite a bit.  Well, that and all the mages were almost but not quite interchangable and sucked for everything but healing (making Norma the best one by default), but that's because most Tales games don't have half the cast be a mage.  The sucking thing of course is not exactly unique to ToL (here's looking at you, Genis)

All that said ToL isn't so bad as the Tales fandom makes it out.  Grefter has said it before and said it better, but it does a great job of making the game and its story seem like it's actually just a chapter in the larger world, even if an important chapter to be sure.  I also think the second half of the game is pretty neat for fluffy character stuff, but a lot of people don't get that far so I dunno how much of a factor that is.

TotA had FOF effects and streamlined the Overlimit/Mystic Arte process. Also, introduced the passive skill system with things like Free Run and such. The Capacity Cores were also kind of interesting even if they were designed too weakly to make much of an impact on gameplay.

ToL suffers from coming right after ToS, which has its Team Attack meter that is far more customizable than ToL's, the EX-Gem system which had some unique effects for certain characters to keep it from being totally generic, Titles/Costumes that actually had an effect on gameplay, Hi-Ougis that were semi-difficult to unlock so players had something interesting to work for, and the weird/poorly-documented Overlimit system that was refined in TotA.

100% disagreement there, ToS's team attack thing was just... there.  I don't even remember it being worth your while.  Climax Mode is pretty sweet meanwhile.

I swear to god that they named the character that only so Senel could go all Street Car.  Granted, if he DIDN'T go all Street Car Named Desire with a character like that, and a personality that could be easily provoked into that (Senel isn't the most mild tempered of characters...)

Also, just to make sure I'm not going amnesiac, CLimax Mode was where time stopped, and you wailed on the enemy for a good while until either the gauge ran out or you used Team Attack (thereby, you use it RIGHT AT THE END)

I don't even remember ToS having a team attack mode.  I do remember ToS2's Unison Attacks...but then, you used those a lot cause you had no MAs for most of the game, Unison Attacks build up FAST, and it was free damage.

L4D2- Cleared every map but hard rain, should have a clear if not for some terrible luck. Oh well.

The game is still  harder than L4D1, and nerfed melee is a huge part of that. It's beyond frustrating to get pincered by a couple of zombies and being unable to do anything about it because of melee cooldown.  Having to switch to a melee weapon is awkward, and the limited hitbox means you're still going to take damage. This makes advanced annoying at points, and I don't even want to imagine expert.  I'm fine with most of the game changes, but I really, really dislike how easy it is to be pinned by one random zombie when you can't spam melee attacks.

OB- Restarted this. Got Fenril. I need to clear Kabhi pennisula next (Sorry VSM, you are going to miss extra Debonair plot), then start getting other PCs. I have an undead staff/ring for Saradin when he joins.
