YOU DARE MOCK DARTH BANDON?!  YOU WILL REGRET THIS!!!!!!!
(Man, the loser Dark Jedi randoms are strong than he is.  At least THEY annoy the fuck you of you with stun more.)

Eh, he lived for a decent amount of time when I fought him, mostly because of drain spamming. I hate it when they do that (though the stunning is also massively irritating). It was more his first appearance that made me laugh. I mean, c'mon, Darth Vader killed people unnecessarily, but only when they were incompetent. "He walked in front of me" isn't a good enough excuse to kill like three or four random dudes and trash some equipment on the bridge your boss's flagship. It doesn't make you look badass, it just makes you look like a wanker! Even sith need to have standards when it comes to wanton butchery.

Considering how fast, easilly and readilly he gets replaced and how little they seem to think of him on Korriban, I think that is actually how it is supposed to come off.

Would anyone who has played OG Saga Endless Frontier and who likes the SRW series please tell me if it is any good?

There's a discussion on it a few pages back, started by Elfboy (who does like the OG games). General gist: Gameplay's nothing like the regular SRWs but done pretty darn well. Story is useless fluff. Writing is 90% boob jokes about the female cast, which gets old very quick.

Edit: Batman: Arkham Asylum. Kicks ass. Act surprised. Just rescued the Batmobile, on my way to find Gordon. The only problem with the game thus far is the PC version's programming, which forced me to download a fan-made DLL before it would recognize my controller.

Suikoden Tactics: Just left Obel and got Flare.

The game, in one word... Boring. I don't know why, but I just find combat so unrewarding and dull. I mean, elemental panels are cute, but all in all it just feels too slow. Plot is not interesting at all (oh wow the merchant is a bad guy shock). Probably move onto something new very soon.

VPDS: Beat A Route.  Entire game until the final dungeon was, essentially, "Get past turn 1 without fighting getting out of control!"  Generally, if you do that, enemies will be positioned such that you can take down one or two right there, and you won't be in a disadvantageous position on the following turn.  The only "hard" ones were stupid rescue missions for reasons half the time beyond your control.

Talk about bad polish; this is shit I expect of an SNES/early PSX era game, NOT a modern gen game.  I thought creators were smart enough to realize that game difficulty has evolved beyond bullshit luck shots like this...

The final boss was a stupid fight in general.  The Crystals on their first assault GMed me, and then when I tried some strategies, they'd GM me and...yeah, I thought you couldn't do shit like Reflect Sorcery or anything since they just cheese around it.  Turns out they only do it rarely and its utterly random, unless they're fighting in groups.  Also turns out I had an assload of anti-magic skills on my main team that I was never making use of so that was all I needed!
Final Boss itself cost me a reset...before the 2nd half.  Why?  MT COUNTERS OUT OF NOWHERE THIS IS FUN RIGHT?!   Seriously, in a team oriented game, ok, MT counters aren't too bad...but don't pull them out of nowhere in a Point of No Return fight with no means to anticipate them.  You can't plan around shit you can't check.  It'd be one thing if you saw enemies do this once or twice before; then you could go "Maybe it has MT counters, so I should be wary?" but...yeah.
That first attack on her cost me a reset cause, well, 3/4ths of my team was near dead and they all converged.  There was also no way of knowing that the fight chains into another without you actually winning, ubt you can still die and get a game over...real fight wasn't too bad cause I just played cautiously.

I plan on doing B and C routes, eventually, but...mrf.  Game has potential, it realizes so very little of it though, and has poor execution.  I acknowledge all the VP1 throwbacks at least, in the sense of music, visuals, etc, even if its selection of music was odd in a few areas ("Why is A Mighty Blow, a battle theme of ISERIA, let alone one that originated from SO2, a STANDARD BOSS THEME?") Its heart was in the right place, but its mind was not.  Game stands at...5/10?  It wasn't too offensive outside of the final boss nonsense, but it is kind of bland despite a good core idea...

Really, this game helps prove that execution is a far more important factor than concept.  You can have a brilliant idea conceptually, but crap execution will make it worthless.  Flipside, even horrible concepts can be made fun with good execution (heck, the FE series thrives on this!)

Knowing about that MT counter gimmick beforehand made the last fight so much more bearable. Plus Ancel actually has the staying power to survive a full attack string from Garm, because he's freaking nuts.

The paralysis wasn't a big deal, since Wyl was immune due to an Omni Check, but...doesn't make the MT Counter Gimmick less bullshit.

And again, the MT Counter thing got me BEFORE Ancel appeared.  I basically attacked, she countered, oh look, everyone died except for my one full HP PC...who then got slammed by Maid Orbital Laser ANYWAY, so my entire team got one shotted.  Its nonsense cause there's 0 precendent for this kind of nonsense in VPDS before that.

What's worse is, as I said, you can't really prepare for her in anyway outside of the items you already have.  You have to stock up 2 battles before that, and there's no way to know that you have 0 free time between chapters.  Neither VP1 nor VP2 did this.  VP1 you could always access Material Shop, so you could make some last minute preparations; VP2 has, at worst, Chap 5's temporary stallpoint, where it keeps you in Asgard, but even then, there's a shop at the entrance with your essentials.  And in both scenarios, stuff like Grinding still exists as an option, if you really need it.

Its really a combination of all of VPDS' unpolished traits slamming you at once.  The only thing that it doesn't pull on you is the "You can't save between Chain Fights!" nonsense; I probably wouldn't have finished the game if the game treated this like a normal chain fight.

There... should be a "shop" option in the menu once you start C6, actually.  It has the same stuff as the end of C5 shops, but still useful.

Super Robot Wars A aka the worst GBA SRW ever: Because I am a glutton for pain I started this again. A bot threw Lamia Real Route at me, and also made me use the Randgriff or however you call it in English. I just started, and since this route is entirely new to me I think I'll have myself a bit of fun. I'm just about to enter stage 3.

Wild Arms of Phantasy Star:  Fuck the Eternal Tower.  Takes forever to beat, and you can't save in the middle of a mission (well you can, but you have to restart the mission).  Ended up leaving my DS on over 24 hours to finish it.  Wasn't even hard, just incredibly tedious.

Yeah and you can't even do it online! You have to do it with stupid AI that are pretty useless.

The worst part is that there's minimal award for doing it :/ I completed it on all difficulties and didn't get much out of it

KOTOR: The speed with which things die is becoming ridiculous. Two-weapon melee build in this game has horrifying damage output; once Zaalbar or Bastila close range, whatever they look at is shredded within two seconds. My MC is less impressive, still using guns more than lightsabers; usual routine is Force Whirlwind (because it's broken as fuck) -> spam sniper shot for criticals/stunning/sneak attack damage from scoundrel levels. Not awe-inspiring for raw damage, but it's good at tying down a single opponent.

Escaping from the sith ship now.

Demon's Souls:

Notable events include dying more times than I care to keep track of already, saving an NPC and seeing him in the Nexus area only to revisit the dungeon and have him permanently die by himself before I even see him, Taking out some stupid insanely brutal Red Eyed knight by spamming magic at it and laughing, almost getting fried by the scariest dragon I've ever seen, and blah blah dark corner SURPRISE ENEMY blah blah dark dark dark. The dead NPC had a key to a room that I stupidly opened and got myself OHKO'd by an optional boss. I beat the main boss of the area (Phalanx) and am able to go to the different worlds, but I find myself not caring. I dislike permanently losing things and least of all when it is for a retarded as shit reason (oh you saved the guy but now that you've come back all the enemies have respawned and he has to fight them alone before you can get to him so he dies before you actually lay eyes on him!). Started 1-2 and got fried by a dragon (bad timing) and torn to shreds by a pack of dogs.

I pumped up the magic stat and notice absolutely no difference in magic damage despite magic power going up a lot. Whatever. Apparently I can (and will, I'm sure) permanently lose the NPC who teaches magic and thus make the build of my character completely worthless. Jolly. Targeting in the game is unintuitive and frustrates me from time to time, often costing me HP/deaths. I tend to just wield with two hands when I'm in a hurry, but of course when surrounded by enemies you put your shield up or just die laughably.

Magic started out really good, capable of OHKOing the common enemies from a distance and doing good damage/killing even the Red Eyed Knight that was so badass it could OHKO you with a dash attack. Now everything got an HP boost and it seems that magic most certainly did not despite my efforts to put points into it. So I guess the joke is on me for wasting levels improving magic ahahahaha. And I think putting points into stats locks you out of a good ending or something based on the dialog involved.

I can tell it is a From Software game by the way they display the stats. With the multiple screens worth of stats for every little piece of equipment. Armored Core memories are all coming back to me. The levels feel freaking huge and I'm not sure what to say about that. Since you die frequently and have to sit through a reload/walk back across lots of said huge levels I find it time-consuming and boring. Very boring. I'd much prefer smaller levels with this format.

If the twinking were more fun I could see myself continuing, but not really down with crawling down an endless supply of dark corridors.

Next to zero precedent, but not quite zero. I believe both harpies and thieves have attacks with some AoE properties (Not sure if it was only on counters or even on their normal attacks. I know it surprised me at least when the harpies unloaded it). Not like it really helps all that much, but minor, minor precedent is there.

DQ4DS: Train rides are the best times to get handheld gaming done. And it always seems like the more inane the handheld RPG, the better it is for mindless train rides. DQ4 is only mildly less mindless than Lunar DS, so it fits the criteria nicely. Currently trying to save Kyril's fevered ass, but I can't seem to find the weed.

Just bought Endless Frontier. It seems the game has been discontinued, so if any of you are interested in picking it up, get it soon before it becomes a bitch to find.

Arkham Asylum: Just got the gate decoder thingy, and am hunting down Harley. From what I can tell the game's a fair bit shorter than I'd hoped, but it makes up for that by being as much fun as advertised. My only complaint is that unarmed mooks are complete cannon fodder - it makes sense that Batman can just jump into the middle of ten thugs and beat the shit out of them with no effort, sure, but it doesn't make for challenging gameplay. Give the fistfighters Titan or something to let them catch up to the gunners (who you do need to use stealth against or die).

Wobbuffet, true love forever.

Just fought Tate and Liza, the Gymleaders who face you in a Double Battle using Soltone and Lunatone, both level 42.

I beat them using A BAO QU, the level 30 Tentacruel and GIOU, the level 30 Wobbuffet.

Get this.

A BAO QU Bubblebeam's Soltone. Soltone's Agility goes down and suffers 1/8th damage.

Lunatone uses Calm Mind on the first turn.

Soltone uses Flamethrower on Wobbuffet and scores a Critical Hit! Wobbuffet is down to 32 HP.

Wobbuffet uses Mirror Coat and KOs Soltone.

On A BAO QU's turn, I use a Super Potion on Wobbuffet to get her to 82 HP.

Lunatone takes its turn and Psychic's Wobbuffet, narrowly killing it. 10 HP left.

Wobbuffet uses Mirror Coat and OHKOs Lunatone.

I declare Wobbuffet my new favourite Pokémon. Ohgodwhat.

This is why no one was allowed to use it in Net Battle of course.
