Transformers G1: Season 3 -
Season remained mediocre throughout.
Final serial seemed to have a jump in quality, but this may have been coloured by my memories of it.
Transformers G1: Rebirth -
Three episodes don't make a season regardless of what the DVD says.
Have to say Rebirth is fairly atrocious. Introduces far too many characters for the timeframe, including a new villainous race because that worked out so well with the Quintessons, and a new set of alien allies. But the main problem is the Headmasters and Targetmasters.
So the Autobots and new alien allies are having trouble fighting the robots of the new villains. The Autobots have enough power to deal with them, but don't know how to go about it, while the aliens know how to deal with them but don't have the power to do anything about it. This leads, by a route I can't quite remember, to the most brilliant plan of all time! A bunch of the new Autobots and Arcee have their heads removed and converted into exosuits which can transform back into the head, which the aliens (and Daniel, for health reasons) will wear, with the goal of the aliens being able to instruct them from inside their heads. YES
So the Decepticons show back up (they had beaten up on the Autobots previously, causing Daniel's health problems and such) and are shocked to see the Headmasters come off the Autobots in question and join in the fighting! As a set of headless Autobots + a bunch of human-sized exosuits are clearly twice the numbers of the set of regular Autobots, they now beat the Decepticons handily, and go on to trash some of the villain's robots as well. This causes the villains to kidnap the Decepticons and demand that they offer up their heads so that some of their crew can work in the same way. The old guard forces the new Decepticons into this, but refuse to take part themselves, clearly being less frothingly insane than the Autobots. As a compromise, the weapons of the old guard are altered in a similar manner, and become 'Targetmasters'.
Wait, did I say the old guard of the Decepticons were less insane than the Autobots? Clearly I forgot how they went into battle and threw their weapons at the Autobots as clearly human-sized exosuits are more powerful than lousy weapons
and the Autobots are so impressed with this that a bunch of their old guard has the same done for their weapons, if I remember correctly
The JP Headmasters/etc serieses are available, and as I understand it they throw out Rebirth and start over from the end of Season 3, but as I understand things the Headmasters in it are the same concept as the Headmasters in Rebirth and consequently fail at life. I will consequently not be going directly on to them.
Overall:
Season 1 is decent
Season 2 is decent if you don't mind dumb plots
Scramble City is bad
Movie is decent
Season 3 is passable, potentially decent if you're a big fan of the characters from the movie
Rebirth is bad
Gundam 00S2 V2/V3 -
Bad Times continue for Saji, with some especially bad times waiting in store for him that he has not considered.
00 Raiser, why the heck are you bringing in pseudo-newtype-slash-SEED-ghost-lamery into the show quantum brainwaves were bad enough but bearable
N still isn't dead, despite the show teasing me with the possibility. Curse them all.
Whoever was in charge of naming particularly innovative people in the show needs to be awarded the Shot Weapon Memorial Medallion. And then shot to stop it from happening again.
Show remains good so far, although I feel V3 was weaker than V2 on the whole. My view may be unfairly coloured due to the raisertype segment, as there were certainly a number of good parts in V3, such as Saji managing to realise that he is about to do something stupid again before he does it, and backstory for the forecasters.
