Hanasouka Iroha:

Little 8-year-old Ohana: Mom! You promised! Why didn't you come! (to a parent's day at her school)
Mom: Ohana! Mark my words! People can't be trusted! Not even family.
Mom: Never rely on someone else. Believe only in yourself.
Ohana: That's not even...
Mom: What you need to do is get them before they get you.
Mom: Gouge them! Cut them down!
Ohana: Cut them down?
Mom: YES. CUT THEM DOWN.

Best parenting ever.

(and of course little Ohana takes it to heart... Her mother's next meal is her least favorite food with "I hate you mommy" written in ketchup)

Linebarrel Vol.17- .................... Year 2712...? Year fucking TWO THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED AND TWELVE!????

http://img263.imageshack.us/img263/6506/linebarrels01.jpg

Too true, way too true.

I mean... this is ridiculous. This literally throw all of my guess to the garbage dump. I can't tell if the author is trying to troll us or is there really something beyond our imagination waiting for us......

Madoka:

I was worried about this show not delivering a satisfactory conclusion. While it did go a route I hoped it wasn't going to, I have to say I am still quite satisfied with the ending and can comfortably put this show in a top slot amongst my favorite anime. Just a tour-de-force of good stuff from music to drama.

The Stinger is kind of a 'what' but I'm just fine ignoring it. And KH has inured me against such stingers anyway!

Tiger and Bunny - I am actually liking this thing for some reason... I guess you can take it seriously in an anime like this.

Madoka finale:

What the hell was that?

Man, Sayaka, way to be unlikeable all the way to the end.

Not sure where "Distortions" are coming from without witches, but whatever, I guess Soul Gems have to be used against -something- for this new Incubator relationship to work. I was kinda hoping that Walpurgis Night would have actually gotten an explanation/backstory.

Overall, pretty disappointing ending, though at least it looked pretty.

Episode 10 was the best episode of the series, though. I kind of wish I had listened to Pyro and watched it weeks ago.

[C]- Decided to follow this, I guess I really like this show's style of trying to be unconventional on the peripheral.

[C] has a lot of potential, but it remains to be seen whether it will, ahem, capitalize on it.

How would you describe this show?  Digimon meets Durarara?  The setup is totally corny, but the other stuff going on in the main character's life could make the duels quite compelling.  Kinda reminds me of Mai-hime and Utena in that respect.
Rocky: you do know what an A-bomb is, right?
Bullwinkle: A-bomb is what some people call our show!
Rocky: I don't think that's very funny...
Bullwinkle: Neither do they, apparently!

[C]- From the way I look at it, I say treats [C] like Digimon, and all the stuff about money as just icing. Considering some of the setting on Midas Bank is already contradicting it self, an obvious sign that the staff isn't taking that aspect of the show seriously but only using it to provide a setting.

As for whether the show will become Durarara, I think the show's direction will head into something like asking the main morale questions: "will you kill someone if you can do it legally and earn a lot of money at same time" or "have you think about what will become of the inflation in using the money printed by a underworld bank" and "are you going to use that money to hook up with the girl".

But then, it does have a chance to become Durarara if the Midas Bank has more influence on the human world than meets the eye.

Though, what really makes me watch the show is the style of the art and some little details on how things are enacted.

Dog Days:
So it started out OK on Episode 1. Shinku (totes British name, of course) is teleported to a magical world of dogs and cats who all engage in athletic battles to win their wars. Okay, I get you. Shinku's completely excited because YEAAAAH ATHLETICS and stuff, and he likes playing around.

Episode 2, Shinku is degraded to Generic Harem Hero where he mistakes geders, grabs boobs (accidentally), sees naked girls and what have you.
It quickly degrades into moe moe harem, which totally killed my motivation to further follow this series past episode 4. I'm not sure why I kept on to episode 4. Maybe WAKAMOTO convinced me to follow through, I don't know.

Hoshizora:
... I couldn't tell whether the guy's companion was a girl or a boy. I blame the newsboy cap, since it's associated with women so much in Japan. I hold that if he turns out to be a trap otouto, I will be victorious.

So far failed to impress me. Smells of more haremu omae wa hentai da kyaa anime.

Ao no Exorcist:
The first episode fails to impress in any memorable way. It's pretty slice-of-life-ish with this Priest dude hanging around the lad. Then near the end suddenly you get beelzebubs and whatnot, but it looks like it'll go to being a high school romance anime with shounen elements thrown in. I haven't dropped it yet, but I also haven't seen the third episode yet. It's make or break there: if it doesn't impress me, I'll probably drop it.

Denpa Onna:
Finally got the first episode, I've heard good things about this, and...

... aww, screw it, I'm going to finally sit through Endless Eight instead.

Because Pyro's been bugging me about it, and because I FINALLY CAN WATCH VIDEOS ONLINE AGAIN, I finished Madoka.

Honestly? I thought the ending was kind of a dud. Not that there was anything wrong with it. I just think the series worked up too much tension, and there was really no way that it would end satisfactorily. While Homura is the biggest badass ever, I'm not sure I can say this is a favorite anime of mine, and indeed, it's probably not my favorite anime of 2011.
~~~~
Tiger and Bunny:
Watch this. It's really good. Nothing particularly ground-breaking, but, eh, screw ground-breaking.
~~~~
Toriko:
Watching this makes me want to read the manga, but only because I hear it's a lot better. Otherwise, it's kind of a bland show that makes me hungry, and GOOD LORD I'M ALREADY STARVING TORIKO.
~~~~
Kaiji 2:
Feels like it's going slower, which is really bad, because there's less episodes than the first season. I'm a bit worried this won't turn out so hot.
Anyhow, with Madoka and Star Driver gone, I'm pretty much just watching Tiger and Bunny and Kaiji and waiting for Summer. I have an itch I can't identify that needs to be scratched, but lord knows I dunno what it is.
Watching any anime?
Always!
-Madoka: I tend to be of two minds about this sort of ending, because the first time I watch it it seems cool and awesome and trippy, and only later when I sit down and think about it does it start to bug me. Here it was slightly more pronounced from the get-go, though. spoilerz:Firstly, why does Kyubei grant a wish that can only hinder him? If there are paralell timelines, does displaying the result of one really make a difference, or are we supposed to only be seeing the same timeline from which Madoka originated? And either way, why do things look so similar even after time is changed? It sure is nice how everything came together in such a similar fashion...
Still, the ending was sort of satisfying, in that it was clearly an ending (stinger nonwithstanding) and at least it wasn't completely inscrutable ala Eva or completely stupid ala My-Hime. I still think it's probably the best overall anime of the decade so far (and the sales clearly agree with me.) Can't wait for the OST.
-Hansaku Iroha: Best parenting ever. The grandmother is also pretty special. The anime would make a good drinking game; shot whenever Min-chi is unjustly screwed. It's got a quirky sense of humor, and Ohana is pretty endearing as a lead. I heard it's meant to cover her growing up, too.
-AnoHana: Whimsical and weird. I think most people can emphasize to a degree with how life has changed from childhood. The characters seem a bit young to be angsting like this, but maybe that's just me getting older? A solid drama nonetheless. Menma is adorable, and most certainly not your average imaginary friend. <_<
Good Idea:
Endless Eight. I knew what I was getting into and got exactly what I wanted.
Great Idea:
Avatar. Not technically anime, but c'mon, it's great. Currently at Northern Air Temple shenanigans.
Terrible Idea:
Astarotte's Toy. The summary promised a 10-year-old girl with a manservant. She requires semen to maintain her youthy looks. The first ten minutes of this show was Little Ten Year Olds Sitting In A Bath Talking. If this isn't blatant pandering to lolicon I don't know what the hell anything is anymore.
Consider it the worst show of this season, unless you're into little ten-year-olds extracting semen from 23-year-old men. Add a 10-year-old daughter the guy has or something. Great, he became a dad at 13. Japan, I don't even want to touch this anymore.
I didn't care for the manga preview in Jump (English).  It seems terribly generic.
Not much else. I was just curious if it was as bad as its summary suggested, as it sounded pretty atrocious even for Japan.
You only think this way because you didn't play enough H game.
Niu: Is there any chance that you're familiar with the Aquarion manga (Kokuu no Tenshi, I think it's called)? For the most part it looks like a straight adaptation of the TV show, except there's this blonde girl that looks like she could be Sylvia's older sister, and I'm trying to figure out what the hell she is.
Turn-A Gundam - Finished
Pretty enjoyable. Some off dialogue early on.
In my infinite wisdom I have left off commenting on it for long enough that nothing specific is coming to mind again. Turn-A-Turn is vastly superior to Century Colour and ED2 is vastly superior to ED1. I don't really understand why the splinter group rejoins Dianna with no fuss when the time comes considering their attitude at the point of splintering. Corin's pretty good.
The almost complete (or fully complete, depending on what you count as it) nonexistence of newtype lamery is always a plus.
Macross Frontier - Up to episode 12
what is this tophattery
had DYRL and 7 not ruined the metaseries enough
if ranka is supposed to be a throwback to classic minmay they are doing it wrong
sheryl is worse than DYRL minmay although debatably not as bad as basara
Classic Minmay was likable pre-celebrity as far as I remember. Ranka has not had much opportunity to be dislikable as a celebrity yet so I cannot really compare them in those regards.
My Boyfriend's A Pilot is an abomination but she did have other songs, for all that that one was unnecessarily overused.
I was referring to her effective lack of a relationship with Alto for her becoming a celebrity to affect. Rereading it looks like I am bringing this up as a point against the show, but it was just a comment on the character. Should have swapped out of braindamaged typing mode.
