The Ovan Show feat. Ovan with his amazing technicolor glasses and permanent smugface: I don't think I've ever before watched a show where the characters quite literally spend 90% of their time talking about one guy. Also I think there's some dude named Haseo.

I've only watched one episode of that years ago and yet I knew exactly what you meant.

Roots sounded... un-good. Better than Sign maybe? Maybe???

I liked Roots, but I'm a crazyperson. It's slow, plodding and kinda meh, but I liked it anyway.

Shino is what makes .hack//roots awesome. It also sets up G.U. pretty well and makes you catch a lot of things earlier, as well as sets up tons of character motivation (Haseo, Ovan, Yata, Pi, etc.)

Sign >>>>>> Roots for me. It was actually rather interesting. >_> Tsukasa was urgh but that was the point of it I think.

Checked out the new anime season. God, it looks like Japan is going to continue pointless fanservice and harem everywhere. Looks like Seakitties is the only interesting anime still.

http://chartfag.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/fall-2009-v3-export1.jpg <- Just found this, but... um...

Childish / Excessive Fanservice / Harem Shit / BATTLE LIBRARIANS (maybe want) / Harem / Retarded genderbend
Might Give it a Shot / Moeblob / Stupid / Not Sure / Moeblob / Moeblob Harem
Harem Fanservice / Inuyasha / Moeblob / Might Give it a Shot / Moeblob / Retarded Fanservice
Probably Boring as Hell / Harem / Moeblob / Otakuservice / I'll Give it a Shot / I'm not 8
Interesting / Yuri / I'm not 8 / DARKER THAN BLACK / ... maybe want / Uninteresting
Ugh / No / screw you / Japan / What is wrong with you? / FANSERVICE
Already saw the real thing / ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS YES

Looks like it isn't COMPLETE fail. Right now, I'd say...

Want To See What It's About:
Letter Bee
White Album
Yumeiro Patissiere
Miracle Train
Kimi no Todoke

Want To See:
DARKER THAN BLACK
Today in Class 5-2
11eyes

>_> Still a depressingly small list, especially considering I will prooooobably lose interest all but DtB and Today in Class 5-2.

Screw this, I'm digging up my Slayers and KareKano DVDs.

...they're doing more of class 5-2?  As if it wasn't bad enough before. <_<

I mean, seriously.  The show is basically about elementary schoolers getting into perverted situations.  It's stupid.  Unless this is somehow something else with the same name.

I dunno, I thought it was pretty funny.

Artwork seems to be different, so maybe different studio, same source.

If I feel like dealing with shitty laptop screen/get it fixed/find cables to hook a bloody laptop up to a TV, I'll probably give RotTK a shot.

Other than that?

Dunno. Haven't seen Darker than Black or any Class 5-2, so those won't interest me until I have.

Update:

Want To See What It's About:
Letter Bee - Little boy delivering letters. I'll give it to episode 2, because episode 1 was fairly amusing.

"EEEEEEH? YOU'RE DARWIN?!?!"

White Album - Shit.
Yumeiro Patissiere - Not subbed.
Miracle Train - Okay, this one deserves special mention because it confuses me. The recipe for Miracle Train appears to be this:

Take one helping of Ouran High School Host Club.
Spoon two bottles of Hetalia! in the mix.
Add trainrape.
Stir while adding Itsumi Koizuki Essence in the mix.

CONGRATULATIONS. YOU HAVE NOW MADE AN ANIME ABOUT A TRAIN THAT KIDNAPS TROUBLED LADIES AND SUBJECTS THEM TO THE PERSONIFICIATIONS OF TOKYO'S TRAIN STATIONS, WHO ARE AT HER BECK AND CALL TO MAKE HER FORGET HER TROUBLES.

Christ, how retarded can plot possibly get?

Kimi no Todoke - Cute. This one's a stayer. Basically it's about this girl whose misunderstood and a bit lonely because everyone thinks she's a ghost or something. There's this one guy who doesn't think so and of course there are FEELINGS++ coming from the misunderstood girl because this guy who is "100% refreshing" notices her. She learns to get a backbone, plays a ghost, stands up for the boy and gets him to go on a date with her in the course of one episode.

It's positively endearing. I KNOW, MEN SHOULD WATCH ACTION AND STUFF, but I like my slice-of-life romance, gender stereotypes be damned.

No, just the people watching shonen and calling slice-of-life gay are in rampant denial while they watch Goku and Vegeta moaning while rubbing each other's legs.

Akikan (”Empty Can”) is the unlikely story of high school boy Kakeru Daichi, whose can of melon juice soda magically transforms into a human girl. Naturally, more “akikan” girls begin appearing, each of them needing to be infused with carbon dioxide from kissing to survive.

That, apparently. Though a more succinct answer would be "brain damage."

Akikan is frustrating.  It's an immensely awful idea, and you might think that would make it fun to make fun of, but it's not, because to make fun of something requires (1) acknowledging that it exists and (2) legitimizing it by allowing it to serve as a form of entertainment in any way.

Of what I've seen of the new season...

I'm watching Railgun, mostly because I watched and liked Index. Doesn't quite start off as well, but it's always fun watching someone throw a quarter through a car and making it explode. Heavier on the comedy than Index. It's an action show at heart, but don't tell Japan that.

Spirit Blacksmith was okay. Featuring a depressingly non-effective female lead and SUPER BLACKSMITHING POWER! that was actually pretty cool. Doesn't seem like it'll be a harem show, but that remains to be seen. Japan throws those in at the drop of a hat.

Nyan Koi was amusing enough. It has KITTIES! ^ ^

Seitokai was definitely OTAKUSERVICE! I got a chuckle or two out of it, but I doubt I'll stick with this very long.

Sora no Otoshimono was DLed against my better judgement. Mostly trying it out to see if it wraps around from fail to hilariously awesome. Probably will end up the same as Akikan though. I watched the first episode of that and my brain threatened to committ suicide if I ever, EVER even thought about watching another one.

Not sure what you were expecting out of Miracle Train. I heard about the premise and steered WAY clear of that one.

Not sure what else I'll give a try. Still watching a few from last season (Umineko, Guin Saga, ZSZS, waiting on the last two eps of Basquash). Looking forward to Darker than Black though.
