Mother is Lucreatia/Jenova, seemed to come back from the dead, Wields the Masamune, And has no problem traversing the world/trying to take it down himself. Also meets many people related to his past (Tifa, Cloud, Zack's girlfriend Aeris, etc)

Doggy in the window? He treats people like his playthings?

Actually, Aeris fits the bill pretty well too, now that I keep thinking of it...

Meets Cloud, who was friend's with her ex. Also can communicate with the planet. Is trapped inside the glass container with Red XIII and befriends him. She's known more as Aerith today which was the original name in the Japanese version (I think, something like that). She visits both the Temple of the Ancients and the City of the Ancients, which are both final resting places now of a sort, plus she's dead. She's also the last of her ancient race. Finally, Shinra wants Aeris' mother like people wanted Tickle-Me-Elmo for Christmas.

NotMiki gets it. It's Kurando. You guys were guessing Shadow Hearts so early, I would have thought you'd have gotten it sooner.

The ability to travel from end of Europe to another in less than a day means that Shadow Hearts Earth is pretty damn small.

Kurando's surname means 'dog god' literally. Also, he and Blanca spend a lot of time together.
