While there's only been one Xenosaga guess so far, this clue might be helpful anyway? Will post the final clue if this one doesn't work shortly.

1. I didn't even get to participate in the climatic battle over the love of my life!
2. A certain piece of music has great importance in my world. It's not surprising that two of my romantic rivals (loosely defined) have musical talent.
3. One rival came mounted. The others... came out of nowhere.
4. The Score dictates everything that has happened, and will happen. Until the one time everything changed...
5. I am not a character in a space opera.

6. So, about those rivals. One's a real leading man type, a goody-two shoes, bit of a rebel. Has some sappy history with my love I'm sure she'll forget about soon enough. Then there's the scruffy rogue and his two henchmen, barely worth notice. The villain's after her too, but more to try to kill her, and shamefully he defeated me first before the duel could commence. His singing makes people green with envy. And finally, there's the rich one. He stole the show and swept her off her feet.

That one guy from FF6's opera? Uhh... Ralse, I think his name was?

1. He doesn't fight Ultros when he jams up the opera
2. He's in an opera, duh.
3. Draco came in on a chocobo, Locke and Ultros just kinda showed up
4. He's in an opera, duh. Then Locke and Ultros showed up out of nowhere and they just winged it.
5. Yeah...
6. Draco and Maria used to be lovers, Locke shows up with two others, and Ultros tries to kill Celes (posing as Maria) in order to jam up the opera and drops on Ralse, I think? Setzer then shows up and steals Celes away.

It is indeed Ralse. I'd have accepted Draco too as close enough, especially since there weren't enough clues to differentiate them until #3. I figured that I needed to BLOW PEOPLE'S MINDS more with fictional characters in already fictional settings, and FF6 was well known enough to do something weird with it. (Vaguely considered trying to work Hamlet's play-in-a-play in some how, but not a great fit.)

To add on to what you said, Ultros's battle form in the opera house has Imp Song, hence clue 2 and 6. Ultros flattened Ralse, Locke & co. got Draco.
