Edit for Dhyers: I suspect it is all part of a fake out on his end so that his advances will not be immeadiatly obvious when he makes them.

Given more alcohol, you'd possibly have sneaked into Dhyer's bed, which would have been slightly more entertaining a story at the end of DLC4. That, however, would undermine the awesome of hitting on Niu, which is clearly undesirable.
