Not particularly. There's an awkward moment or two, but the thing between them is more that Shinji feels close to Rei without really knowing why.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

Mario Mario - CK. Doesn't talk, and I'm fairly certain if he landed on you it would hurt.
Bowser Koopa - Super. Big and bad...at least according to him. Has minons...who aren't actually good for much.
Peach Toadstool - No idea. Can't think of any DLers who get kidnapped with enough frequency.
Mallow - Andy. Fairly emotional, but still cool, guy. Also, small enough for the role~
Geno - Elf. Generally cool and collected voice of reason in this party.

Croco - Rob. I mostly remember that Croco is a jerk with a penchant for explosives. Explosives are close enough to guns here, I guess.
Booster - Meeple. I think this one is obvious, yes?
Bundt - Me. Large, doughy. Sorry, couldn't pass up the opportunity for the pun~
Jonathan Jones - Jim. Only met the guy once, but I could see him pulling off the badass needed for this role.
Valentina - Snow. So, more or less offensive then being cast as Chaos?
Dodo - Tai. Constantly gnawed on by Snow, seems to exist in a permenant state of headache.

Don't remember the individual axems well enough to cast them. However, I can't believe CK forgot:

Jinx - Sage. I have no issues seeing him as both the Wise Old Master(before losing to mario) and Complete Spaz(after losing to mario).

Shiki Tohno - Pyro. Polite niceguy, but weird enough to fit in here anyway.
Arcuied Brunestud - Dunno. It's really hard to cast someone as Arc.
Ciel - Dune. Can go from serious to loony at the drop of a hat. (or drop of a curry bread for Ciel)
Akiha Tohno - Do we even have anyone here tsundere enough for this role?. EDIT: Corwin. He's more #elysium and Soulriders then DL, but he is so very definately Akiha.
Hisui - Alex. Quiet and withdrawn on the outside, energetic and crazy on the inside.
Kohaku - OK. Medicinal skills, generally insane.
Satsuki Yumizuka - Metroid. Nice girl going going through a difficult transition. Though Met's handling hers *much* better. <_<
Michael Roa Valdamjong - ID. I could totally see him finding loopholes in reality like that.
Nrvnqsr Chaos - Nitori. The ~ will consume all. Run while you still can.
