Nyarlathotep's Dungeon: Monado Mandala Week 10
« on: September 07, 2009, 07:26:55 PM »

"Hm... I suppose things were too hard after all. I shall have to address that."

Team Taishyr Vs. Floor 3
Team Magic and Andrew vs. Floor 3

Team Taishyr's Matches

4c: Status Critical

"Hmm... I think things have been too boring lately. Let's see what happens when you have a critical failure."

*For this floor, all moves that have any capacity to critical hit will do so.

Battle #16: Jude and Raquel

Jude: I fight, along with my ARM!
Raquel: I AM DYING OF CANCER I GUESS

Battle #17: Raichu, Ho-oh and Lugia

Raichu: Raichu...
Lugia: I think I can talk... can't I?

Battle #18: Ness and Poo

Ness: Rockin'!
Poo: Starstorm!

Battle #19: Alena, Brey (Borya), Cristo (Kiryl) and Ragnar

Alena: Let's wipe the floor with them!
Brey: As you say, my lady.

Boss Battle #4: Caellech, Lloyd and Linus

Caellech: You fools...
Lloyd: Heh heh, brother, let's go!
Linus: Yes!

Team Talaysen and Piggyman's Matches

Floor 1: A Re-introduction (The Beginning)

"Ho ho ho ho! You've decided to return! Let us see what you can accomplish."

Battle #1: Palmer and Mist Dragon

Palmer: Muahaha! I am Science!!
Mist Dragon: Turn back!

Battle #2: Steelix, Shuckle and FF1 Knight

Knight: You shall not pass here!

Battle #3: Marle, Alice and FFT Priest

Marle: Yeah! Let's go!
Alice: Yuri...

Battle #4: Rampage Drive

Rampage Drive: ...!!!

Boss Battle #1: Lich

Lich: I will... devour you...

---------------------------------------------

Team Taishyr | Kyogre (MT), Maya, Garnet, Kyra, FFT Priest
[Floor 3b]
*For this floor, all moves that have any capacity to critical hit will do so.
Team Taishyr vs. Jude and Raquel
Team Taishyr vs. Raichu, Ho-oh and Lugia (FRLG forms)
Team Taishyr vs. Ness and Poo
Team Taishyr vs. Alena, Brey (Borya), Cristo (Kiryl) and Ragnar
*Full Heal
Team Taishyr vs. Caellech, Lloyd (FE7) and Linus (FE7) (Cog of Destiny forms for Lloyd and Linus)

Team Talaysen | Raquel, Jude, Arnaud, Yulie
[WA4 Synergy Bonus: This team fully heals after every battle. However, if a character dies they suffer a Max HP penalty until a full heal]
[Floor 1]
Team Talaysen vs. Palmer and Mist Dragon
Team Talaysen vs. Steelix, Shuckle and FF1 Knight
Team Talaysen vs. Marle, Alice and FFT Priest
Team Talaysen vs. Rampage Drive
Team Talaysen vs. Lich (FF1)

Team Piggyman | Orlandu, FF5 Chemist, Cray (Speed?), Garnet, Adray
[Floor 1]
Team Piggyman vs. Palmer and Mist Dragon
Team Piggyman vs. Steelix, Shuckle and FF1 Knight
Team Piggyman vs. Marle, Alice and FFT Priest
Team Piggyman vs. Rampage Drive
Team Piggyman vs. Lich (FF1)

Multitarget - One person on the team's actions all become Multitargetted. However, the damage of regular attacks, the healing of all spells that restore HP or MP, the status rates of status spells or attacks and the effect of buffs or debuffs (rounded down to the nearest half point in the case of Pokemon) is reduced to 50% of the original base chance. (For example, Deadly Fingertips has a max 50% chance of hitting all targets.) This applies even if there is only one opponent left.

Speed? - The effective speed of one character is reversed (60% becomes 140%), but after the first round of combat, their speed returns to default and can not be increased in any way.

Pass for Tai.

Team Talaysen | Raquel, Jude, Arnaud, Yulie
[WA4 Synergy Bonus: This team fully heals after every battle. However, if a character dies they suffer a Max HP penalty until a full heal]
[Floor 1]
Team Talaysen vs. Palmer and Mist Dragon - I think even Raquel outspeeds here. >_>
Team Talaysen vs. Steelix, Shuckle and FF1 Knight - Raquel Hard Hits past Steelix/Shuckle physical resistance. Arnaud's Fragile makes Jude do the same. Not like Raquel needs the help.
Team Talaysen vs. Marle, Alice and FFT Priest - Raquel gets a turn, Intrudes, things go splat. Granted, team could be in a little trouble here. Haste etc. Still, Raquel offense respect is massive, and when she gets a turn the others have built up some FP for her, so Intrude prevails. Yulie might get knocked out by Hasted Marle/Alice? Marle speed isn't notoriously high on my respect list.
Team Talaysen vs. Rampage Drive - Arnaud~
Team Talaysen vs. Lich (FF1) - This is actually a fun team. :D

Piggy has Orlandu and Adray. Pass, obviously.

Team Taishyr | Kyogre (MT), Maya, Garnet, Kyra, FFT Priest
[Floor 3b]
*For this floor, all moves that have any capacity to critical hit will do so.
Team Taishyr vs. Jude and Raquel - Jude gets a turn! Rest of my team proceeds to messily lay waste to the group. Being slow isn't good against four MT spammers.
Team Taishyr vs. Raichu, Ho-oh and Lugia (FRLG forms) - Kyogre MT Water Pulses, knocks Ho-oh and Raichu spinning and quite possibly KOs (Drizzle + weakness on Ho-oh + crit might do it, here). Even without that, though, the team can't mount an effective offense against a full team with lots of healing available. Maya arguably picks up Blizzard Breath here, which just makes this fight silly.

Alternately: Raichu Paralyzes, Ho-oh Sunny Days, Lugia Safeguards (or Maya sleeps and the enemy team has issues.) Maya tries for Hama ID, Kyra uses Fire magic and gets the +50% bonus, Garnet follows up with Ifrit for another +50%, Priest cures with Esuna and Kyogre can either try to finish with Body Slam or Water Pulse, or possible give my team a doubleact of sorts with MT Scary Face.

Team Taishyr vs. Ness and Poo - Poo gets a turn! The rest of my team just drops the boomstick, unworried about his turn since the physical isn't threatening enough.
Team Taishyr vs. Alena, Brey (Borya), Cristo (Kiryl) and Ragnar - Alena nukes Kyogre! Maya, Kyra, Garnet and Priest all get a turn anyway and proceed to pretty much rip things apart with Maha Aques + whateverthefuckKyra's money skill was her+summon+CRITICAL STAFF WHACK. Borya/Alena are too frail to survive that, Cristo and Ragnar will feel the full impact since the entire team's going before them.
*Full Heal
Team Taishyr vs. Caellech, Lloyd (FE7) and Linus (FE7) (Cog of Destiny forms for Lloyd and Linus) - Oh noes no critica- wait MT Water Pulse + Maha Aques + Kyra + Summon say hi.

EDIT: Came up in, chat, but. Kyogre is still being scaled to midgame stats at this point, while Raichu/Lugia/Ho-oh are to endgame. As a result, Kyogre should still hold a statistical advantage in speed.

EDIT 2: Slight error in my team list. I still have Garnet, not Raja.

Team Taishyr | Kyogre (MT), Maya, Raja, Kyra, FFT Priest
[Floor 4c]
*For this floor, all moves that have any capacity to critical hit will do so.
Team Taishyr vs. Jude and Raquel - From what I know of WA4, Jude has epic magic durability and Raquel is ungodly slow.  Sounds simple enough
Team Taishyr vs. Raichu, Ho-oh and Lugia (FRLG forms) - RAICHU HITS A WEAKNESS ON KYOGRE YES.  Except he can't OHKO past the MDef.  Winner.  Ho-oh doesn't like the level of water-based offense the team has, and Lugia can't handle things on its own
Team Taishyr vs. Ness and Poo - Simple enough.
Team Taishyr vs. Alena, Brey (Borya), Cristo (Kiryl) and Ragnar - Okay, here's where things get fun.  Alena gets a turn and can OHKO Kyogre, however, the rest of the DQ4ers emo about Alena's brutal rape of the speed average.  They also have to put up with Drizzle-boosted Maha Aques (which OHKOs Borya and argueably Kiryl as well) plus whatever other MT the team offers.
*Full Heal
Team Taishyr vs. Caellech, Lloyd (FE7) and Linus (FE7) (Cog of Destiny forms for Lloyd and Linus) - Wheee water!

Team Piggyman passes as well.

My team passes. Cray's buffing Orlandu's speed by 50% at the start of every fight, save Rampage Drive, where Adray gets the boost. Orlandu/Adray handle pretty much the entire floor. I'm not even being touched before the Rampage Drive fight, I don't think. FF5 Chemist's Charm prevents someone from getting a turn in the second and third fights, while Orlandu and Adray handle the other two.

Team Tal and Tai pass as well. For Tai, even if Kyogre does get slaughtered on the DW4 fight, the MT is just too much pressure.

Team Talaysen | Raquel, Jude, Arnaud, Yulie
[WA4 Synergy Bonus: This team fully heals after every battle. However, if a character dies they suffer a Max HP penalty until a full heal]
[Floor 1]
Team Talaysen vs. Palmer and Mist Dragon - Jude sword hype.
Team Talaysen vs. Steelix, Shuckle and FF1 Knight - Arnaud and/or Material.
Team Talaysen vs. Marle, Alice and FFT Priest - Dunno if I agree with Bardiche's hyping of Raquel here, she might lose the speedoff to Marle and get giggly.  However Jude's Phantom Line doesn't suck on Floor 1!  Certainly above average damage.  So Jude + Arnaud physical on Marle probably takes care of Marle, and the dungeon team is now on their backfoot.  And Yulie's good MDef means that the most logical target is hard to kill.  So pass, but this fight would get headachey if Marle didn't die immediately.
Team Talaysen vs. Rampage Drive - Arnaud and/or Material.  (Checking...  FP Advantage is lvl. 18.  Meaning Yulie could grab it at lvl. 9, which is probably doable by that temple Raquel commissions the team for?)
Team Talaysen vs. Lich (FF1) - With FP Advantage this fight is academic - Lich must Hold Raquel, giving Arnaud & Yulie plenty of time to find the Fire leypoint.  Plus he's getting shot up by Jude the whole time, Hold can miss, and Hold eventually expires even if he were to somehow paralyze everyone.

Team Piggyman passes as well.  Adray for the magic-weak, Orlandu for the physical-weak.  Adray even has Fire Bolts for Lich fryin'.

Think Tai passing comes down to Garnet beating out the non Alena PC's. Going to stick with that abstain until I look at it more closely.

Doesn't Kyogre basically come at endgame though, and by dungeon rules has his stats scaled to that point then?

His bases are being compared to first-evos, unevolved pokés and the like at this point. He looks a fair deal better, particularly considering how -many- of those are there.

No, Floor 4's definitely the midgame floor. Most everything should be evolved.

No, Floor 4's definitely the midgame floor. Most everything should be evolved.

Third evos are floor 5-6 (five for the 30s range, 6 for those evos that go past L40). And there are a bunch of lategame evos that are -even later-. Very few final evos are below the 30s for range, and endgame is L50.

Final evos? Nah, agree those are mostly not there, but you shouldn't have any squirtles or the like running around.

Oh, definitely agree. Just there are a bunch of Pokés who have a very late evo and it's their only one, mostly. Any poké that gets an evo before L25, so to speak, should have it there. And the first evos are still a fair deal away from Kyogre stat totals.

I would say some final evolution pokemon are available around now. They're mainly the stone evolutions like Victreebell and Vileplume and trade evolutions like Alakazam.

I could see that, sure, though I'd peg some trade as floor 5 or 6 even still. It doesn't boost the averages enough to make up for the bevy of first-evo and unevod pokes still in there.

Most of the trade evos have very little statistical advantage over their pre-evo stages to boot, and they're a minority in general.

Tai passes off of Kyogre respect. My scaling definitely puts him higher at this stage than most due to the unevo'd/first-evo pokemon available here.

Tal... passes. Arnaud and Yulie should have no trouble getting magic damage on Rampage Drive under my normal interps. In a WA4-only team, I can't buy any interp that doesn't allow ley points... >.>;;

Piggyman... alright, looks like a pass for now. Speed? Cray is pretty cool and definitely an option I had been considering. Looks like there's a good team built around it, too. ;D

Hmm... light on comments tonight. Sleepy~

Fail for Tai. I don't see Garnet outspeeding Kiryl/Borya. Kyra is dead average and is going near the end of the round, same as FFT Priest. If that happens, MT status spam screws his team up but good.

I'm not seeing how Brey survives a turn with Maya cleaning his clock, but I guess you decided Water got blocked by the Water Flying Clothes? (Still disagree with that; Ice's a separate element in P2, and usually Water/Ice get split by DW games. Don't recall an actual water attack in DWIV to tell either way, but it still feels like a stretch a bit.) Brey falls and Cristo's isn't as accurate by the stat topic info, plus Garnet's the only one that might ever care there (Psy Shields and Maia Custom both pretty effectively wall whatever status is thrown out, Maia Custom completely so). So.

Alternately, Maya just shoots Brey for the kill, Cristo gets a turn and either revives or tries to stall but he can't stop Garnet/Kyra/Priest from getting turns and racking up the damage themselves.

Psy shields don't do much to ID, and if Brey's getting that turn it's two sets of MT status. Odds are you are not going to be in shape to fight after that.

Team Taishyr | Kyogre (MT), Maya, Garnet, Kyra, FFT Priest
[Floor 3b]
*For this floor, all moves that have any capacity to critical hit will do so.
Team Taishyr vs. Jude and Raquel
Team Taishyr vs. Raichu, Ho-oh and Lugia (FRLG forms)
Team Taishyr vs. Ness and Poo
Team Taishyr vs. Alena, Brey (Borya), Cristo (Kiryl) and Ragnar
*Full Heal
Team Taishyr vs. Caellech, Lloyd (FE7) and Linus (FE7) (Cog of Destiny forms for Lloyd and Linus) - I personally agree with a lot of the calls super makes on the DQ4 fight, except the Water Flying Clothes and Kyra speed disrespect at the current point. This lets the team get past that fight, if barely. However, I have to ask: does Cristo have GT/MT ID? If he does, that fight is really, really ridiculous and needs to be rethought, given how Alena is already a big threat in the fight (pretty much no PC you can choose in the dungeon outspeeds her, and she OHKOs someone pretty much no strings attached. With the amount of GT/MT status flying around, it's too easy for the team to take control of the fight this way).

Team Talaysen | Raquel, Jude, Arnaud, Yulie
[WA4 Synergy Bonus: This team fully heals after every battle. However, if a character dies they suffer a Max HP penalty until a full heal]
[Floor 1]
Team Talaysen vs. Palmer and Mist Dragon
Team Talaysen vs. Steelix, Shuckle and FF1 Knight
Team Talaysen vs. Marle, Alice and FFT Priest
Team Talaysen vs. Rampage Drive
Team Talaysen vs. Lich (FF1) - I actually sorta agree with Snowfire in allowing Leypoints for a full WA4 party, and the advantages/disadvantages that eke from this. That full heal after each fight also helps a lot. The only way I'd see the party any more favorably would be if I saw FP Advantage as floor 1.

Team Piggyman | Orlandu, FF5 Chemist, Cray (Speed?), Garnet, Adray
[Floor 1]
Team Piggyman vs. Palmer and Mist Dragon
Team Piggyman vs. Steelix, Shuckle and FF1 Knight
Team Piggyman vs. Marle, Alice and FFT Priest
Team Piggyman vs. Rampage Drive
Team Piggyman vs. Lich (FF1) - CRAY HAS MAGIC TOO. The healers get manhandled by Orlandu something fierce here. Some of the fights can be a pain in the ass, but the party has the resources for it.

Maya also walls ID, but fair enough, super. Idly, though, how accurate are his status? If they're as low as the topic claims (you seem to be saying differently, which is fair enough; you'd probably know better) than I can't see the ID as crippling at all here. >_>
