School has started once more. It fills me with sorrow. Last semester though!... which also fills me with sorrow. Just can't win.

Interesting week so far...

Monday: The opening/launching of our "Intramurals"/"Sportsfest". Some sort of massive sporting event where sections/classes are pitted against each other in various sports. Apparently Chess is a sport here. I represent my section for Chess and Swimming.

Tuesday: Went around going to different places on some school field trip. First I went to our House of Representatives, which is where the Congress have their sessions, afterwards we were supposed to go to this "Crime Lab" place in the Police Headquarters of Manila, but it seemed to not push through due to some... issues. Next part we visited this College of Saint Benilde, took a look at the rooms and stuff, then went over to their hotel, which also happens to be a school at the same time. It was pretty neat. The most eventful part of the day however were the bus rides to and fro, where I got to see a friend of mine kick some ass at DJMax Portable II, and also we had a time where we cracked extremely corny jokes at each other, but the corny jokes added to the laff factor. Yeah.

I also turned 16! >_>

Wednesday: We watched a film made by a college student. Yeah. It wasn't that bad, albeit long for my taste (Uh, 2h30min?) and the thing is it was in Tagalog/Filipino so I could barely understand it. Yeah. >_>

Hey, gang. Wanted to let everyone know that I am indeed alive and well here in the big bad city. We got cable and internet hooked up, and while the former is working fine the latter is frustratingly inconsistent and for the past two days has not worked at all. So at the moment I'm at a lovely little coffee shop with lovely little free WiFi. Huzzah.

So things are generally going well, and maybe when I've got myself pulled together a bit more solidly I'll write a longer post about the neighborhood and whatnot.

Glad it went well Strago.

I just got done with my work study evaluation. A second job can't hurt, so hey. Just have to kill two and a half hours on campus till lab/lecture. Probably will go over my lab notes and eat a late lunch at the subway nearby.

Edit: 9-11 and I'm posting at the DL group while waiting for class to start. Some things never change.

So yeah, done my first two weeks of teacher education.

It's been a lot of fun, generally. There's been no shortage of work to do (over 20 class hours a week demanding 100% attendance and active involvement, and plenty of work between classes, too), but I'm really into it, in a way I certainly never was in undergrad. A lot of it is the fact that I'm back for a purpose - I know why I'm here, and I know what I'm getting out of it, instead of the aimless "degree" carrot I chased for years. More than that, though - the style of education is just far superior. Classes top out at around 30 people (this despite the program being 20 times that size), and are very interactive. It's involving, it's social, it's actually teaching me how to teach and function in a classroom setting. I realised yesterday that I could name every single person in one of my classes - I don't think that's been true for me in any class since high school. It's a neat experience.

Now I just need to worry about not being crushed by it. <_< Some of it makes me nervous, certainly - teaching in front of a whole class, even in practice, isn't an easy thing for me (and, it seems, most of my classmates) to get up and do. And staying on top of the work in this course is necessary in a way I can't recall... ever, previously. But yeah, I'm enjoying it. ^_^

One of the flaws of college has always been just that; a vague unawareness to the applications of your studies to real life. Glad you're having fun.

I think the liquor what got poured down my throat last night has solidified in to a second lining. If I had ulcers, that might help, but as it stands, I derive no benefit from that.

After everyone shouted RUN FOR YOUR LIVES from Hurricane Ike, it managed to miss us completely and swerve north to destroy Houston, who pretty much had no idea it was coming.  Yay for weather forecasting.  We didn't even get a drop of rain from it.

Although we did get some high tides which resulted in the death of a teenager.  Because "LOL LET'S GO JUMP IN THE GIANT WAVES!11!1"

Ike obviously knew he was no match for your UOM powers. *nodnod*

:psyduck: about the teenager, but that's sadly the kind of shit I expect to happen. Glad it was just the one at least.

So today, armed with a pineapple/coconut/strawberry smoothie and an Analytical Chemistry book, I am prepared to take on the world! Don't expect to see me for the next day since I am going to cram so hardcore for this test.

(Also, don't cross me. This book is big and I am not afraid to hit people with it.)

Basically a random chat with Ciato got my mind on guilty pleasures. What are yours?

Mine are watching and enjoying Pimp my ride (Only MTV show I'll watch), listening to Celine Dion, and spending way too much time reading about and watching football.

Oh, and those NES books are still more readable than the Great Gatsby, but then again so is the phone book.

My guilty pleasure is the RPGDL. <_< And all the fun things associated with that.

Besides that, I dunno. I watched Power Rangers into my teenage years. I find the Super Mario Bros. movie to be campy fun. Guess those count.

For guilty pleasures: I am a huge nerd. <_< Says it all, really.

For actual news, did another teacher exam for a school and will do yet another one this Friday. Mrf, what truly makes me nervous is the following interview.

Guilty pleasures? Ehhh. I could say yuri, but I see no reason to feel guilty about that. I can't really think of much that applies here.

Well. I guess I could say that I probably have a higher tolerance for fanservice than most here. Or certain manifestations of it, at least. Witness my actually finding WA5 Persephone attractive.
