Al Diablo Con Los Guapos (To the Devil with the Studs/Good-looking Guys), a Spanish soap opera, ended tonight.  My wife has been watching this show every weeknight for the last 6 months.  It will be nice to see her again.

Shopping today.  Bought some Wii accessories (power stuff and a HD cable to see if it clears up the picture at all), some CDs (Electric 6 - Exterminate one.  A Bowie and an Aphex Twin) $100 worth of tea (A stack of 3 greens, a stack of 3 Chais and a stack of exotic teas, seems like mostly fancyish japanese teas).  A kettle.  Another tea pot and some cups so I can drink Black teas in my room (other tea set isn't good for stirring).  About $600 worth of stuff.  Things I have been meaning to get for a while now mostly.

So now I am in my room listening to Nick Cave and having some relaxing tea.  It is a good day.

On guilty pleasures: Last night I was lying in a hotel room with nothing to do but watch random cable TV and discovered CSI: Miami. It is now my favorite thing ever for no other reason than David Caruso's awesome overacting.

I have tried some of the "exotic" tea and one of the Chais today.  The exotic one was kind of cool, all of the tea was rolled up balls rather than a loose leaf tea.  After it has brewed the tea leaves have all spread out into full actual leaves still instead of ground up dried leaves.  Tasted pretty good and it was a smooth taste.  The Red Chai I had wasn't bad either, has a bit of bite in it as I would expect from a Chai, but not a waste of money.

I wasn't terribly fond of the one or two Chai teas I've had. They are okay, just... I dunno. Didn't seem like it had much flavor.

It is more flavour than the herbal infusions I have been trying, but yeah, I don't expect the straight Chai to be terribly impressive.  Worth having some in a collection though and if for some reason I don't want a caffeine laced Tea.

*nods* Makes sense, certainly. I should buy me a package of tea bags and a cup and make it in the microwave. Boiling it is funner and better but no options to do that.

Buy a cheap electric kettle.  Kettles are cheap.  I spent $40 AUS on one, but you can easy get them for $20.  Saw a funky Art Deco style one, but it was $100 and I was talked out of it cause I actually wanted one with current temperature listed on it (for greens).

Microwaved doesn't quite feel the same and requires more care to not burn yourself.

Lame.  Oh well, I assume no stove either (For serious, I look for a single excuse to get a gas stove and a proper old school kettle, would suck for greens, but old school wins.)  Oh well, guess you have to enjoy it however you can.

Aside from sports, I watch broadcast TV (as opposed to downloaded shows) approximately never, and I had no interest in the CSI franchise so I didn't seek it out.

That misses (I believe) the best opening scene of the series:

upon finding dead male victim tied to bed, lying on stomach, anally violated with an iron pipe

Detective, checking the door: "No sign of forced entry."
Horatio: "Oh I wouldn't be so sure of that."
Rocky: you do know what an A-bomb is, right?
Bullwinkle: A-bomb is what some people call our show!
Rocky: I don't think that's very funny...
Bullwinkle: Neither do they, apparently!

Also, I knew about Grissom One-Liners (hadn't seen them, but knew the trope). It's more the way he's apparently convinced he's the second coming of Clint Eastwood and delivers his lines in accordance with such.

I guess sarcastically watching CSI: Miami is OK, because trying to actually watch it is like paying special attention to your DNA as your telomeres become increasingly damaged and your life ticks away from your body not being able to accurately recreate itself.

On a -related- subject to the tea thing, I've found I'm an enormous sucker for Milk Steamers. They are rapidly becoming like, my favorite thing to drink. Why did I not discover these until about three or four months ago?

Well, I get home from work and...I get home just in time to see the Pitchers come out at Yankee Stadium (which means I only saw them and the Center fielders.  They saved Center Field for last cause most of the greats played that position, apparently.  Also lets them end with Bernie Williams which is a fitting end in this regard.)

Watched the rest of the opening Ceremony.  Pity I couldn't see all of it; it was quite a sight.  You tend to forget just how many legends played at Yankee Stadium, and just how many people they comemorated; some of those who were deceased got family members to represent them.

Oddly, apparently Don Mattingly wasn't introduced at 1st Base.

So yeah, it's going to be sad given this is the last game and all that.  What's even sadder is my little sister never got a chance to go to Yankee Stadium despite how often we went in the past before she was born (and what's even worse was my parents even had the chance to go but shit happened that day and it fell through.)

So yeah, as a Yankee fan, things...aren't going to feel quite right.  Kind of insulting that they're turning this into a lot for the new ball park.  Just think about it; you say to someone "You know Babe Ruth? He use to play where are car is parked!"

That's exactly how I felt when watching CSI.

At least Miami seems to have something amusing going for it. Even if it is a TVtropes creation.

Yeah. Never really liked baseball too much, but Yankee Stadium and the Yankees kinda transcend the usual of sports.

On an unusual note, due to this, I found out my Mom used to babysit Gene Michaels' kids when she lived in NY (my Grandma was friends with his wife), so she was going over all the stories she had with that while the ceremony was going on. Crazy stuff. Especially considering my Mom hates the Yankees (or so she says).

A Milk Steamer is a hot beverage made with steamed milk. I think it's frothed in a cappuccino machine, but it doesn't contain espresso, so it's just milk. It is flavored with any number of delicious things. Like, any number.

Check out the Torani flavors at Torani.com. I have seen more flavors than this.
