...

And to complete the festive Christmas fun-times:

I'm working today at the hospital (have been since 1200), and about 20 minutes ago, a name I recognized appeared in the order queue.  One of my fraternity brothers is in the ICU right now - cardiac.  Guy had a heart attack at the age of 29 (granted, he's also 545 lbs and doesn't take care of himself much, but still...).  :(

Merry Christmas otherwise :/

545 lbs? What the flying fuck? People can even function for more than a week with -that- level of obesity? Christ.

Still sucks, regardless. My regards to you and your friend, OK.

Condolences, Ciato. :( Deaths around the holidays are particularly hard.

Thanks for the well-wishing, everyone.

Things are still up in the air with my grandfather and the aftermath; we know we're going to have him cremated and do a ceremony next summer rather than now because he is going to be interred near his wife in the military cemetery in South Dakota, where the extended family all lives and grew up.

The hardest thing about dealing with my grandfather's death is that... just about everything relating to his funeral has been taken care of. There's some degree of comfort in having something to -do- when someone dies -- planning services, putting together the financing, letting people know -- and almost 90% of it has been taken care of for years. It being Christmas, there hasn't been much opportunity to deal with the lawyers and such either. It's just so... surreal.

I hope your fraternity brother pulls through it, OK.

Merry Christmas/happy holidays/<insert appropriate seasonal well-wishing here> to everyone.

Moved into the new place.  I like it; closer to campus than the last place, also right down the street from the bar.  Unfortunately it's also far away from any groceries and the facilities are a bit old, but I can deal with that.  Rent's a bit more, but eh, not that much more.

Ugh, self-analysis is not something I should do. New Year's resolution: never go to a bar and DON'T get hammered.

Man all I can think as possibly happening there is Rob finding out what other people are really like when they are drunk.

And that is terrible.

I can buy a new screen for ~$100 and install it myself, but now's REALLY not the time to shell out $100 randomly.

ETA: And when I say "I can buy" I apparently mean "Andrew can buy." He spoils me. Did you know he also bought me a DS for Christmas? ;_;

Agreed.  People should never care about each other.  Love has no place in this world.

So that monitor problem I talked about in a previous post now happens all the time.  Out of commission until I can take it in to the University's IT assistance office, and since they'll probably tell me what I already know (it's the graphics card you've got to replace it blah blah blah) a little bit longer as I'll probably put it off until I've got an income... ...or more likely whenever loan disbursement comes though.  Yeah.
