Very low.  I've been to...way too many.

Two grandfathers
Three uncles
Two Aunts
1 Friend
5 Teachers
1 Student at college
1 Cousin

I think that's about it...how fucking macabre.  Granted, about the time I was born, most people in my family were entering the end years, so...I guess this makes sense.  Still.

Zero.  Despite my uncle and Grandfather dying, living over 1000 miles away (and one occurring while I was too young and one occurring just before school) means I've been unable to attend funerals.  Which I suppose is a blessing, though I wish I could have been at my Grandfather's.  Ah well.

EDIT:  Man, the really, really awesome thing about these new forums?  In addition to warning you of new posts from other people when you try to post a reply, it also notifies you when you doublepost thanks to browser wonkiness.  Hooray.  Doubleposts should never happen again.

I've been to... three funerals. All for various grandparents. My grandfather's was the most memorable; he'd been a Senator, from Virginia, so the service and turnout were enormous. It was really something.

And awesome, Strago. We would need to hang out. (In regards to rehersal for Big Love, do you mean the HBO show?)

Heh. No, nothing that exciting. Big Love is the name of the play I'm doing this semester, with nothing to do with mormons. But yeah, we'll make sure to meet up some time.

I've only been to one funeral myself: my grandmother's, in 2003.

My other grandparents are deceased as well, but they all died either in Montreal or in Britain, and I was ten years old at the oldest for those events, so I didn't go to the funerals. Similarly, I've lost a few great uncles and aunts over the years, but none who have lived anywhere near me.

Yes, and in mint condition. Also, my mother silently thanks for the plastic bubble wrap, those things keep her entertained for hours. For extra laughs, I checked the package situation after I got it and it's still in the exceptional state. Fun stuff.

Oh I thought Shale was talking about DT for a second there since apparently this is like their first tour down here for two decades or something crazy like that...

Anyway, Dream Theater rock so much face it is not fucking funny.  I am talking spot on notes and rhythm for an entire set, nothing done wrong.  Studio perfect performance.  This is mind boggling and watching all four instrumentalists of that quality playing together is phenomenal. There may be better musicians on each instrument in a variety of other bands, but they are probably the biggest collection of talent I can think of and I finally got to see them play.  Well worth the money and the super shittiness of the venue.  Sadly no LTE all night   I would do many a dark deed to see Acid Rain played live.

As for the venue, well if anyone is in Brisbane, FUCK the River Stage.  Gates open at 6pm the tickets say.  More like they open up at 7pm, so you stand in line for a fucking hour if you are just on time.  Then they search everyone for stuff, so the line moves super slow and you are standing in line for another half an hour if you go there early (so just short of two hours in line for me!  After a work day!  YAYAYAYAYYAYAYY!YY!Y!Y!YYAYAYYAY!Y!Y!YYAYYAYAYAYAAA!!!).  Then you go inside and it is an outdoors park venue, so get this, every fucker has to stand up, for a three hour concert.  5 hours of standing up after a day of work is not that fun.  Oh if you do choose to sit, well you do it on the ground.  That is totally comfortable.  Because it is outdoors there is 0 acoustics in there, so the music has to be played half as loud again as it normally would!  Yay for hearing!

Edit - Oh and for some odd reason, watching DT really made me want to rewatch Dave Lombardo drum sessions and listen to Slayer.

So the River Stage is shit, just like I knew it was (they did the same shit with the gates at Powderfinger a few years ago also).  Dream Theater were worth it though and so was going with a friend of mine that I never really do much with since he got married and just found out the other day that his wife got pregnant.  So I at least had fun while in the line even if my feet were completely and totally fucked beyond recognition when I got home.  Ice is good.

Paid rent today, landlady said the people downstairs complaining of our NIGHTLY noise between 11PM and 4AM.  My roomate goes to bed at 1AM, from 1-4 I am usually
A. Watching TV/Movies on computer with headphones
B. Playing WC3/RPG/IWD2/etc. with headphones on
C. Reading
D. Sleeping
E. Masturbating

Our noise sounds like "We're moving furniture."  I'll admit, we've had some parties and what not that were loud, but according to our landlady this is nightly.  I now wonder if these stupid whores below us have never lived downstairs.  You CAN hear people above you walking, especially in the kitchen.  If me going into the kitchen or taking a piss or something is furniture moving noise to them, they can fuck off and die.  My former roomate lives downstairs (next to them actually) and the people above them actually are loud.  Do they complain?  Nope!  One, they know people upstairs make noise, and two, it achieves nothing.

Short rant.  Basically I hate the people below me, I will continue to stay up till 4-5AM, I will continue to make sandwhiches or take a piss when I want, and I will continue to hate them.  I am going to now train myself to punch straight through a human being, and then demonstrate this skill in front of them.  Hopefully that'll shut em up.

yeah, I'm always trying to be careful about the noise for my downstairs neighbors.  mostly this entails not playing DDR on their ceiling when they're around.

As for people complaining, if they complain to you, try to tone it down.  If they're not complaining to you, but complain to your landlady, fuck 'em.  This is real life, not third grade.  They're adults, so are you.  If they refuse to attempt to fix the problem themselves, they can suffer.

Side note: I used to have upstairs neighbors that would make noises at 1 or 2 am that really did sound like they were moving furniture.  damnedest thing.  Complained to them about noise rather frequently, actually, but not that in particular.  One of them liked to fire up an electric guitar amp in the wee hours.  I can't say I felt too bad about giving him a talking to (was about to write "I didn't lose any sleep over giving him a talking to" but that's factually untrue).

Grrr-blah. There's this awful flu/cough that's been going around campus. Girlfriend got it last Saturday and is just starting to recover, but I managed to wait until Wednesday afternoon to catch it. I feel pretty hellish. The worst part? This week frigging Moises Kaufmann (artistic director of the Tectonic Theater Company, who created The Laramie Project) is on campus, and he's leading a really intense workshop this weekend. It starts tonight, and I really don't know if I'll be able to do it. Balls.

Hi.

I'm sorry to have just disappeared for the last week without a warning.  I was busy in the hospital.

Unfortunately, not on my preferred end.

I started my most recent rotation on Monday morning, with some difficulty breathing, productive cough, a mix of things.  It wasn't too bad overall, I thought, but as the day went on, it got worse.  After I left the rotation (a bit early), I woke up in a hospital bed.  Apparently, I collapsed on my way out of the pharmacy, around 1pm.  It was kind of ironic that my preceptor was helping with my care, of all things.  Did a great job, all things considered.  I just got back today a little bit ago.

3 years of working in a hospital, but I finally acquired a severe case of pneumonia.  Thankfully, it's mostly fixed right now, outside of a few more days of antibiotics, but I feel completely blasted at the moment.

I'm really sorry to have disappeared like that.  I especially apologize for disappearing in the middle of the Mafia game, and am very thankful Tom found someone to replace me.  Sorry about that.

Again, sorry for disappearing and (maybe?) worrying people.  I'll try no to let that happen again.
