Packing for the move right now. This will be my last post on the DL boards until June 4th, most likely. If I'm not on by then, burn Cox Cable Company to the ground.

I'm so fucking depressed. I don't want to leave my friends here ;_;

I just got an email telling me one of my bigger scholarships has been revoked.

As far as I can tell, it is because they are claiming I did not take spring classes, since there are no grades up.

Apparently Study Abroad has neglected to tell anyone else that xyz students are not currently running on their schedule and that grades will be delayed as a result. Either that, or I fail to meet their cumulative grade point average oh wait EVEN IF I GOT STRAIGHT ZEROS ON ALL MY CLASSES THIS SEMESTER I'D STILL HAVE A 3.03 CUMULATIVE GPA ASSHOLES.

My rage is beyond iridescent.

At least that sounds like something that you can get worked out.  Still, that is retarded.

VSM: Got the book, thanks.

I'm probably off IRC except for weekends and thursday night for updates for a while. Stupid, stupid class is going to kill me with the work load.

"Hay guys let's memorize 50 slides and all the bones in the body in a week!"

Yep. It's a fun class but I am going to die.

Gasp.  A biology class is nothing but rote memorization of processes?  Shock.

This is why I laugh at people that claim "hard majors" like the sciences take more mental faculty than other majors.

It's more than that, just the hardest parts of this class is learn the sheer amount of information in such a short period of time. Taking it in summer just makes that worse.

Woo, senior prom on Friday and such. Good fun, danced with my girlfriend, requested Love of a Lifetime by Firehouse for a slow dance song. Thus, I have fulfilled my longstanding desire to make sure that I dance with a girl to a power ballad at a prom. And yes, I've planned this far in advance. Cue Light Yagami face. Many stupid pictures taken, will post if anyone cares, have a MySpace to put them on once I've gathered them up if anyone cares.

Rode to and from in a limousine that my friend rented, at a cost of $100 for me and my girl. Ate at Olive Garden before going, finished early and terrorized Wal-Mart for a half hour in tuxedos and dresses.

Plenty of fun stuff besides. School reserved an amusement park for the whole senior class for four hours after the prom, and I proceeded to eat a six inch sub, immediately before riding two high-G rides and avoid any puking. Girlfriend couldn't come, sadly, but I had enough random friends there to hang out with. Did twist my knee ice skating though, which is not helping me get my ass in gear towards running.

Went to Denny's for breakfast at about 4 in the morning, and got to my friend's house to crash at about 5:30. Ended up with him, and three girls all sleeping on the same air mattress. Barely slept due to spending most of the time making stupid jokes and generally being idiot highschoolers. Slept briefly, watched faux-lesbian orgy. Went home and finally slept.

And even now I'm still feeling pretty loopy, between hormones, sleep deprivation, and caffeine. Hoping that it wears off soon so I can stop being more of a pervy weirdo than I normally am.

I will take hard science in Physics over the soft science of Psychology though ID.  It is harder to memorise process and apply it than it is to find one stance that you like and apply it to all fields.  Psycho Analysis covering all your angles from Hypnosis, through Developmental Psych, I/O Psych and even being useful in non-psychology electives to do with Feminism.

Freud > you.

The soft side of psychology is just...lame. At least most other "soft" majors require decent critical thinking ability and, if the college is good, decent writing skills.

This is why I studied neurobiology and psychopharmacology instead of lame, untestable theories and supplemented it with criminology and international studies!

Scholars can be jerks and still make frightening amounts of sense, though.

*Points to McLuhan.* Man, those directives were utter bastardry, but goddamned if they don't make sense and aren't easily appliable. I usually respect that kind of panache.

What is there not to love about post-structuralism?  I love Structuralist and actually favour a functionalist point of view more than anything else, but post-structuralism is still brain sex.

Edit - To uh actually have some depth to an argument about something like that.  Post-structuralist ideas are quite intellectually challenging and while it can ultimately lead to few strong answers the exercise of actually practicing these things only aids you as an intellectual and helps solidify your other stance.

... sooooo, I guess I'll learn about all of this stuff in college? Or do I have to actually, ya know, try to go out and learn all about this crazy philosophy stuff?

Unless you're going for a Philosophy/Psychology major, you have to get off your ass to get in-depth regarding that. So, get working.

Actually, structuralism and post-structuralism are fields of media/literary criticism.  We learned about em in the Pits of the English Majors.  As lit crit theories, they tend to overexpose their wonky underpinnings and make me want to strangle anyone who actually buys into them.

Structuralism and post-structuralism aren't exactly crazy Philosophy shenanigans, though. I agree with the rest of your assessment, however. >_>

EDIT:  Nevermind, I was thinking of formalism compared to deconstructionism, not structuralism compared to deconstructionism.

Not that it really matters.  It's all just a mental wank off, and analysis classes are little more than circle jerks.  The only good to come of literary criticism doesn't lie in analyzing the meaning of a work but instead how the author wrote the work.  Practical writing strategies>>Anything else I've learned in this department.

If you have a piece of pizza, a bottle of hot sauce, and a bottle of beer, don't put the beer right next to the hot sauce. It can only end poorly.
