So, turns out Accenture (the place I work) lost the contract with TSA (agency whose HR work we do). This means the Cid has no work past October (December at the latest--TSA can decide to extend it two months if there's still stuff to wrap up on our end). Not that I'm worried: Catapult (the company I'm actually paid by--yes, there are several layers of subcontracting going on here), already told me that they'd move me to another project once the Accenture/TSA one finally shuts down, and that they want to keep me around enough to make a counter offer should I get a job offer from someone else. Which I guess means I can use this to get a raise, if nothing else. >.> There's also the possibility of applying to the new agency getting the TSA contract (Lockheed), which would be easier than falling asleep on the couch since I already know everything and some of the TSA contacts think I'm awesome and would be useful references. That would mean driving to Arlington every day, though. Bleh to that. Wherever I wind up, of course, is unlikely to be five minutes from my apartment (current workplace is), which is obviously a major bummer.
What I should do, of course, is use the time to find a job somewhere less lame than northern Virginia. My sister's moving to Chicago around August/September, apparently only a few blocks away from my brother's place. Would be funny if we all wound up there (well, no, my parents would hate it. But it is the job of fretful parents to sink their claws into their children and not let them go ever, it seems).
