Today I stumbled across, and by 'stumbled across' I mean 'bought all the ingredients for and baked' snickerdoodles.  best cookies known to man.

More blinding rage than panic, but I know where you're coming from on that one today.

NotMiki has been apointed DLCon chef.

For me, I made $170 selling 6 textbooks.  Almost how much I spent in total on them (I bought 2 books on ebay for a penny + $3 shipping).

Also, 58 degree change in weather from Sunday to Monday. What the heck nature.

I sold 12 books yesterday and I got $150 and an odd-looking quarter.  I'll take a picture of the quarter sometime later today.

I had a swimming race today, my event was 50m breaststroke

Out of... 8, 10 people? I forget. I shelled out a 3rd place despite not having any training within the past year! I used to train in swimming when I was in Hong Kong, so I expected to fall down and get a low place, I really did not expect 3rd. Though, to be honest, if I had shaved off just a little under three thirds of a second, I would've been second, or better yet, first.

Go go Trance! <(^^)>

**

Went Christmas present shopping and to a movie yesterday. Inkheart. It was fun. I think I might get the book~ Also treated myself to popcorn and a large coke. I don't usually buy movie food but hey Christmas! Going out again on Friday for Christmas clothes shopping/pantomime/meal in Glasgow. The panto is to be The Wizard of Never Woz which sounds fun. Planning on visiting my grandparents some time too. So yeah CT is busy celebrating the season! ~

Last week, convenience stores all over Japan began selling Potion, complete with advertisement collectible images of the Dissidia cast printed on the cans.

Today I finally tried one.

...it wasn't bad, but you really have to like sweet carbonated lemon water to truly enjoy it.

However, the cans are pretty - I went ahead and decided to keep the Zidane/Kuja and Terra/Kefka ones.

They're pretty cheap, so I'm considering buying a bunch and bringing them to DL con. Anybody interested? If not, then I'm sure I could do without and save myself the luggage weight.

I taught my pre-schoolers how to sing 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer' today because it's the only day this month that I will see them and I wanted to teach them a Christmas song. Warning: RUDOLPH THE REDNOSED REINDEER IS A DECEPTIVELY HARD SONG TO TEACH!

I should have gone with 'We wish you a Merry Christmas'... it has like... 4 lines total?

Anyway, apart from the fact that 'English is hard, don't try to teach it' - it turned out that all of the kids already knew the song... in Japanese! Yes, Rudolph is a popular Japanese Christmas song too. Despite the Japanese people's utter lack of enthusiasm for Christmas, they hear just about all of our Christmas songs (in Japanese, of course!).

What bothered me is that while the songs were mostly accurate translations, there were some weird changes. Like the lack of Rudolph's name in his own song. Even though his name kind of describes him already, the Japanese only know him as the All-Red-Nosed Mr. Reindeer (Makka no ohana no tonakai-san).

In the end, the kids ended up learning like 2 lines of the English song and then we just sang the rest in Japanese... sigh.

For those interested, here's the song in Japanese:

Makka na ohana no

tonakai-san wa
真っ赤なお鼻の

トナカイさんは

Itsumo minna no

waraimono
いつもみんなの

笑いもの

Demo sono toshi no

kurisumasu no hi
でもその年の

クリスマスの日

Santa no ojisan wa

iimashita
サンタのおじさんは

言いました

Kurai yomichi wa

pika pika no
暗い夜道は

ぴかぴかの

Omae no hana ga

yaku ni tatsu no sa
おまえの鼻が

役に立つのさ

Itsumo naiteta

tonakai-san wa
いつも泣いてた

トナカイさんは

Koyoi koso wa to

yorokobimashita
今宵こそはと

喜びました

Rough literal translation of awesome (done by yours truly, so take with a grain of salt)!

The 'All-Red'-Nosed Mr. REINDEER!

Always he is everyone's laughing-thing.

But that year's Christmas day

Old-man Santa was like:

"It's dark road, your pika-pika nose

will totally light this shit up."

Then the always-crying-out REINDEERs

were finally pleased.

Yes, I am the master of unlocking... er... untranslating... or something.

Hire me, Nippon-Ichi!

ぴかぴか means something along the lines of "shiny" or "sparkly" not unlike キラキラ

Oh, I'm well aware of that. I just find the sound effect more entertaining than the correct English translation. Especially since it evokes a mental image of Pikachu to me. Thus, a "pikapika" nose is one that electrifies unsuspecting pokemon trainers... or something. >.>;;
