I'd really, really, really love to go to Japan but I has no monies. Not after Easter, Brit and possibly Gate con >_> I also kinda promised Meeple I'd visit teh Meep house!

Yeah, DL Con is not a time for touring. Look at DLC4:

We were a bus ride away from New York City, one of the biggest tourist spots in the world...and no one went, at least during the con. Those who went either went right before the Con, or right after. Planning things around the Con (as in, stuff to do before and after its formally over) is the best way to do the tourist thing.

That said...for DLC5, if others are doing it, I wouldn't be against hanging around in that area a little longer for touristy stuff. Naturally, I'd assume we'd be getting a hotel room and such, as not to intrude upon Gate and what not.

There is a metric ton of stuff to do in the SF area if people are wanting to stick around a bit longer or arrive a bit earlier to see the sights. Alkatraz, Chinatown, Battery Park and Ghirardelli Square for the chocolate lovers are just a few. We can do some arranging if there's enough interest.

Hmmmm. The plans aren't set in stone yet, but if I do end up going to DLC[kinda depends on me getting a job in the next several months.], it's likely that I'll be flying into Oregon and then roadtripping down with some of my old friends. I'd be interested in seeing some sights, and I'm sure they would be too.

Start planning lots of events because I have a ton of Japanese strategy guides to ~~get rid of~~ give away as fabulous prizes!

I don't think an FG tourney two years in a row is a good idea. That sort of thing only works every once in a while >_>;

Though I'm sure the music quiz will still be there, and perhaps we could get BOWLING/MINIGOLF PRIZES.

I vote for fighting game tournament with different games. Maybe keep Brawl same, otherwise no.

Honestly I think Xer and Gate could use the break, is the biggest reason. Maybe a smaller tourney with just Brawl and one other game?

Seeing that only West Coast Cons are the ones I can make, and that they happen every other year, and that a ruling like this means that I would never be around for a fighting game tourney ever...

Yeah, definately in favour of a FG tourney. Just curious, is the main effort wrangling everyone to make things work, making sure the proper games get there, or just organizing the draw?

I can run the tourney, but I will need suggestions for games. I guess my point is that I am fine at running/organizing things, but I don't know enough about fighting games to adequately access what would be the best games for them.

So...music tournament...I'm planning on running this again like I usually do (didn't for DLC4 cause, you know, I was running the freaking Con itself!)...and probably same way I did for DLC3 ("hey, I have 20 slots open, first 20 people to volunteer get to nom songs that I will insure one will get in!" thingy)...

Anyone object to this?

I can help with suggestions there. If I do make it to the con, I may help with on-the-fly logistics as well if you're in for it.

Bit late, but I'm in chances are. Three scenarios:

1) Can't find a job, in which case, I won't have anything on my schedule so there's no conflicts >_>.
2) Have a job, but since its after June 20th, meaning after busy season, I can probably ask for a few days off at work if I am working by then
3) Didn't pass the UFE and for whatever reason plan to rewrite. In which case, July - Mid August is fine.

I'll worry about moneys later. I should have some spare funds in my bank account.
