Ryu (BoF3) vs False Althena (Lunar:EBC) - Ryu is faster (not slower) so beats everything FA can throw, except Ray, which has priority and OHKOs. Unless you can count Thunder Ring (which you can't because it's a universal equip, right?), FA wins.
Cidolfas Orlandu (FFT) vs Brahms (VPs) - Night Sword against the non-undead undead. Going by VP2 Brahms here since VP1 Brahms... doesn't really seem fair to Godlike.

Heavy

Edward "Edge" Geraldine (FF4) vs Kasumi (Suikos) - No sleep protection. Or Edge could just Fuma her to death from the start.

Not that it matters at all for this fight, but Opera has an earlygame weapon that absolutely kills her attack (Drops it by 700ish points? This is a massive drop), but it halves all magical damage. Mostly notable here for helping to run Zhuzhen out of SP.

BUT BUT BUT HIS PHYSICAL

E: On the sad side of things, this weapon also halves a bunch of elements including darkness. Leads to some fun times with her fight with Nergal in the M/L pool.

That match comes down to Opera breaking defense. If she even does 1 damage to Nergal she outlasts. If she doesn't break defense (Very possible, considering opera's already low damage is getting brutally tanked), it's back to square one there.

Thing is... does she even break average -enemy- defense in-game with a weapon that's 700 points lower than her normal one? Damage figures on that weapon are downright crucial.

I'd say yes, but in such a puny amount that it doesn't matter. I would definitely see that tinking on Nergal. That weapon is pretty useless in spite of magic halving. Only good for when Opera needs to outlast a mage with limited resources, be it MP or SP.

It is a bit moot though. Opera should curb stomp Nergal unless you ban blacksmithing gear (Star Grieves) and she owns Sharmista for free soooooo yeah not like the pool changes.

She halves darkness with that? Opera > lolgal if she avoids a 3HKO (needs both doubles to two-turn), and she'd probably get that much with halving.

Star grieves immune darkness. Sooo yeah. The previous matchup was because I was talking with Dhyer at 4am and it came up randomly and dear god the fail.

Easily, but this is the result of the average SO 2 random enemy having 0 defense.

I think the fact that magic and guns have the same range in SO2 means that it wouldn't be 3 range to me. 3 range has to be something spectacular, maybe like Musty's guns or something, something that magic clearly doesn't reach.

Lyon (S5) vs. Rayquaza (PKMN) - Seriously, what's Lyon going to do to avoid getting owned? Stick a Water Rune on and use Ice Breath or something? I think it's quite obvious who wins here.
