Y'know.  Given how much this sucks for both school and shipping in retail (second busiest month of year for one, busiest month of year for the other) I've never been able to do this before.  So, I think I'll give it a shot this year.  Now all I need is an idea...

I have no soul!

Though I'd be further if last night hadn't blown up spectacularly.

Two years ago.  Last year was a mess.  Damn WoW.

EDIT1: 13470 words.  Time for fooooooooood.

EDIT2: 15316 words.  Short chapter, but so much content.  Maybe I should stop playing chess while I write.  Seems to be slowing me down.

EDIT3: 07 day 1 record is broken!  That means I have over 17,000 words!

EDIT4: Yessssssssssssssss.....

EDIT5: 20k in one day done.  Now I laugh at myself!

It's funny.  All my friends in England who do this update their facebook with wordcounts.  It's funny to see people really excited at reaching 5000 words after 2 days when reading Fudo's posts.  Even funnier, because 5000 words in 2 days is a day ahead, which is something to be proud of.

...just about to start guys! I'm just... writing a Gundam AU. Like, being completely transparent about it.

Still don't know how I'm working in the term 'Gundam' though, since it's another vaguely nonsensical giant robot name. Ah well.

You could always acronym it out, or even have their proper name as GNDM (which could be any number of things, the one I liked most while pondering was Galactic Navy Domination Machine) with Gundam as the common, pronunciated version.

I like the squishy acronym. Probably different actual words, but GNDM sounds good.

Why are you worried about fitting that in somewhere?  Is there a rule against fan fiction?  Last I checked, there wasn't, though you should be ashamed of writing 50000 words of fan fiction in any case.

Gundam AU means that it's basically a completely original story with the Gundam name tacked on. I know, I know, I could make an original mecha story pretty easily, but bear with me - I can do THAT once I'm done with this.

...yes, I know that making it a Gundam AU shouldn't be making it easier to write in that case. My mind does not work in such ways.

Decided to start this today because I finally came up with a story idea and a decent intro. Basic premise is a guy who has lived through a war as a kid, doesn't see the big deal, and joins the military to find out what the big appeal is. Ends up rising the ranks and inevitably causing another war through ignorance.

Yeah, the story is generic and plain, as with most NaNo ones. I just thought up an interesting intro to it earlier and had to use it. So far, thanks to being flooded with assignments for college, I've written just the intro (75 words, OH YEAH) but should hopefully have more done by the weekend. >.>

695 words. Probably pick up before I go to bed and try to bang out at least that many.

Marathon tomorrow, hoping for 3000 minimum.

Because I forgot to post it earlier. Got distracted, still only on 75 words. I'm sure the idea of the NaNo site isn't to distract you from the NaNo writing, but whatever!

Superhumanity can be blunted by billy's wanting on for nine and a half hours.  So much time lost.  Won't be able to salvage my daily goal.  Still might save my final goal though.

EDIT1: La sigh.  Only 5000 words for Day 2.  Accursed billy!  Oh well.  That's over halfway done, so some yay.  Though since the remaining chapters are all piss easy and lightning fast to write I could do all the remaining in one day.   But first, sleep.  Also, Chapter names sometime tomorrow so you may laugh at them!

Since I'm working on non-novel fiction, I won't be able to participate.

Good luck to all who can.

I might try to match/exceed word counts, though.  Certainly some of my work has been at those paces or higher.  It's not too hard to do in spurts, but keeping it up month after month is hellish. :P  (I had a job for a while that required me to write an 80,000 word final draft sourcebook every month, with game mechanics and research included.  The job burned out before I did, but not by much...)
Read my webnovel, Eye Opener, now available on RoyalRoad.
