Added Vandal Hearts 3 Flames of Judgment at 3/10.

It's a shame, because the gameplay and characters showed enough promise I think this could have been a good game - maybe very good.

Instead, neither was given anywhere near enough time to develop and the end result plays more like a demo than a complete game.  Loses a point for the most atrocious cut scenes since DW7's thankfully rare CGI monstrosities.

Added:
FF13 at 8/10: Good all around game with a few kinks holding it back from being exceptional, but a very pleasant experience nonetheless.
Pokemon HGSS 8/10: What Diamond/Pearl should have been, has all the cool new stuff of Gen 4 while retaining the positive factors that Gen 3 entries had, for most part.
Wizard of Oz at 4/10: A lot of neat ideas, buts most are hardly taken beyond a basic level, and the game is so monotonous, it honestly was an overall boring experience.  It doesn't do anything tremendously wrong, just fails to do anything that remotely makes the game engaging outside of a rare decent boss fight.

Change:
FF12 to 7/10 (-1): Yeah, not sure why it was at 8/10; I had fun playing the game, but I compare it to the other FF games in 8/10 and its explicitly worse.

That reminds me:

FFXIII at 1/10. Since 1/10 is "there is something wrong with this game at a fundamental level," I can't think of a label that fits the game better.  If the game wasn't so adamant about you not playing it, I'd think the whole "RUN DOWN A LINEAR HALLWAY FOR THIRTY HOURS!!!!!" part of the game was some kind of metatextual joke about jRPG story construction.

A Suda 51 jRPG would own and I would buy it on release day unironically.
Don't think of it as a novel. Think of it as a chance to retroactively win every argument you have ever walked away from.

The whole Rank 1 battle from the first No More Heroes was basically a JRPG climax. You have a flashback to stuff that the player doesn't know but the character had happen to him like, four days ago. Then the main boss declares out of the blue that he is the hero's father, then Jeane mocks everyone who thought shit like that would happen.

Oh well yeah, but mocking the plot is easy, I want to see his deconstruction of the gameplay.

As long as you play from the perspective of Wedge Antilles I would be down for that (all the cool fighting happens in cutscenes)

So we'd finally see the clip where Wedge Antilles fakes getting winged and pulls up out of the trench, allowing him the perfect angle at which to fire the two extra torpedoes he kept under his seat in to the thermal exhaust port.

What, you thought Han was talking to Luke? That kid couldn't hit the ground if he was laying on it.

Only during the final cutscene where we again wouldn't be doing any of the cool fighting.

Oh I know that.  I mean if we are postulating that a Suda 51 JRPG would be like playing a game that is the Death Star Trench Run from the perspective of Wedge Antilles, then it is obvious that having a big reveal that Wedge blew up the original Death Star will have to happen in a cutscene rather than us actually getting to play the game and do that kind of awesome shit.

Wedge doesn't put up with that Trench bullshit when it comes time for him to blow that shit up.  He flies into the middle of a fucking moon sized space station and shoots in in the balls (reactor) and then flies out being backed up by Space Pimp Extraordinaire.
