Interesting. List is broken up into four segments here. Champ level, decent, below average, and fodder/downgrade bait. Granted, list is only as good as the people in it, as shown by Light. But the trends don't seem too inaccurate here. List fields are usually the best of the best, and it clearly isn't the case here. The next season we'll be looking at is season 53, as chosen by hatbot. Yes, -that- season. The one where every freaking high Godlike was involved.  Jade, Zophar, Yuna, Jenna, Kuja, and Ghaleon have all champed. Godlike:

*Godlike champs*

1. Zophar (Just brutal even with no FS)
2. Ghaleon
3. Xorn (Near impossible to beat without some severe physical walling)
4. Souji (Near unkillable)
5. Yuna (I may count up Godlikes and see who loses to more offhand, but I think Souji's weird spoilers pop up less than the usual high godlikes who beat Yuna)
6. Jenna Angel (High durability can wall her, assuming HP buffering. Really high durability)
7. Jade (Far less respect for the damage and speed than some, but good enough.)
8. Timelord (Kills every PC, beats a lot of bosses.)
*Drop to good godlike*
9. Rubicant (Wallable)
10. Terra (Mostly a spoiler in high godlike)
11. Shania (Welp)
*Drop to below average/weak godlike*
12. Xenobia
13. Asellus (Borderliner?)
*lol*
14. Kuja (Is Kuja.)

Heavy:

1. Hilda
2. Kary
3. Lede
4. Carlie
5. Demi
6. Tana
7. Chie
8. Nina 1
9. Nash
10. Glenn
11. Nina 2
12. Agrias
13. Janus
14. Yuki

Middle:

1. Axl (Fluke run, but eh. Does his job)
2. Ashton (Just surprisingly solid in spite of meh equipment options)
3. Yulie (Needs more defense in the worst way.)
4. Rauny (Fast 2HKO backed by great stats, but it's really easy to spoil. This works.)
5. Kraken (Solid boss for Middle.)
*Drop*
6. Joachim (Durable and has ID)
7. Cador (At least fairly durable)
8. Rudy (So slow.)
*drop*
9. Teddie (Slow and thunder weak. That'll work. Lacks Yukiko's evasion cheese as well.)
10. Setzer
11. Scythe (Last strike off that HP is really bad)
12. Lun (Borderliner)
13. Rena (Pure status/elemental spoiler, needs to downgrade)
14. Raijin (Light)

Light:

1. Garet (His record speaks for itself)
2. Alonso (Um.)
3. Draggy (Fast 3HKO)
4. Aguro (Slow verging 2HKO and durable)
5. Kahn (Fail)
6. Tempest
7. Mallow (Okay light healer)
*Drop into insanely bad light range)
8. Aeris
9. Nina 3 (This pool)
10. Jin (GO AWAY)
11. Chu-Chu
12. Laguna (Really, really bad temp)
*Puny*
13. Connie (Wow)
14. Euram (Second worst dueller we have ranked who can be beat)
15. Jogurt

This was an utterly unremarkable heavy power wise, aside from the top three.

Godlike:

1) Souji (Pers4) - Damage doesn't tend to cut it against him. Bring lethal status, -very- good durability (hi, Profound Darkness!), or be able to pound through two HP bars fast enough. Otherwise, go home. Oddly, this field... I guess I just don't see a lot of the respect, here (Yuna's a case of not allowing Aeons. Ah well~)
2) Ghaleon (Lunars) - Chaos Shield, ID, and I always underrate his damage. But the speed is lousy and the HP isn't WHOAMG level, though still solid.
3) Jenna Angel (DDS) - I'm still skeptical on the formchain, but... have good durability or durability tricks, or go away.
4) TimeLord (SaGa) - Very nasty spoiler, but tends to get punted if his spoiling is circumvented.
5) Zophar (Lunar:EBC) - Nowhere near the level of respect for his durability that most people have. Still solid at killing PCs/limit bosses/slug bosses.
6) Yuna (FFX) - Aeonless Yuna, but... 3x scaling makes her a fair bit harder for PCs to slug down, and bosses don't tend to like her speed/damage/stalling combo.
7) Terra (FF6) - Slower Yuna without the tricks, but better damage and innate defensive walling, and she can pull damage and heal simultaneously. Works.
8) Jade (BoF1) - Rubicant, trading some speed for some durability and a slightly less commonly walled element. A winning trade, but not by much.
9) Rubicant (FF4) - Very, very good at what he does, which is fry PCs and frailer bosses that don't wall fire. Doesn't like damage, though.
10) Shania (SH3) - I... if she could get that turn 1 faster, she'd probably jump up a fair ways. But as it stands she gets too easily run off the rails.
11) Xenobia (Lunar:SSSC) - Eh. I don't have that much respect for the durability, which is what she wants. Sooooo.
--Large drop--
12) Nel (SO3) - High Heavy.
13) Asellus (SaGa) - High Heavy.
14) Kuja (FF9) - It's Kuja.

To me, this was a solid Mid-Godlike pool with two High Godlikes (Souji/Ghaleon) and multiple solid spoilers. But hey.

Rest later.

Heavy:

1: Ness (EB) - Low Godlike. Scary, scary slugger.
2: Lede (FFT) - Low Godlike. Frightening at killing PCs, not much else.
3: Kary (FF1) - Kneejerk? She's good, and I have decent enough durability respect for her that she doesn't sink badly due to that.
--- Really Goddamn Close Trio ---
4: Hilda (SH3) - Options options options damage tricks woo. Scary as hell, hard to kill before she bounces the opponent out.
5: Nina (BoF1) - The pinnacle of stallers. Damage doesn't exist, but she will grind you to a halt so painfully that her lack of damage fails to matter at all.
6: Demi (PS4) - Staller/slugger, dangerous to engage, has speed and tricks to keep up pressure.
--- Really Goddamn Close Trio over ---
7: Carlie (SD3) - Not too distant from the above three, but distant enough. Still scary.
--- Drop ---
8: Chie (P4) - No Miori shirt means she's bad at setting up... but 3x PCHP means she can pull the turn anyway, usually.
9: Tana (FE8) - Evasion, damage.
10: Nina (BoF2) - ID.
11: Nash (Lunar:SSSC) - Status.
12: Glenn (CC) - Damage.
13: Agrias (FFT) - Equip options.
14: Janus (WA3) - Middle.

Huh, and to me this is a pretty scary Heavy field.

Middle:

1: Rauny (OB) - Evasion, damaging. Gets walled easily, but hey.
2: Junpei (Pers3) - Yes, I respect him a lot. Phys mocking, fire immunity, Spring of Life for some regeneration... It's an odd package, but it works damn well. His damage is a 3HKO, but hey, can't win them all, right? (The only question is.... do I give him Laevetienn...?)
3: Axl (MMXCM) - Mocks non-healers, but Junpei's package may be enough to beat him, which says a -lot- about Axl's non- Stealth Mode capability. Still Heavy against pure slugging.
4: Ashton (SO2) - Good overall, bad SO2 equips are still SO2 equips.
5: Yulie (WA4) - Stall stall stall chip stall stall chip. Getting OHKOd or 2HKOed without getting a Quickened turn is sad days, though.
6: Rudy (WA1) - Damage damage damage! Speed? Whuzzat?
7: Adray (SO3) - MP damage, SO3 equips, think I lean toward generally allowing easy IC equips from my point of view so he likes me.
8: Teddie (P4) - The speed hit is killer, Endure saves, but someone with a high 3HKO/2HKO to average can keep him choked pretty easily I think?
9: Kraken (FF1)
10: Joachim (SH2)
11: Setzer (FF6) - Eh, sure.
12: Rena (SO2) - Healspam~
13: Scythe (WA4) - Wishes I didn't see him as toilet-paper durability.
14: Raijin (FF8) - Mmmyeah.

Light:

0: Jogurt (SF1) - Supreme Godlike.
1: Garet (GS) - Has a ton of options and decent offense. Good enough.
2: Kahn (BoF4) - Sure.
--Drop--
3: Draggy (CC) - Yup.
4: Aguro (Lufia 1) - Gutcheck kneejerk, he could be below Kahn but I don't know.
5: Mallow (SMRPG)
--DROP--
6: Aeris (FF7)
7: Tempest (Lunar:SSSC)
8: Connie (S3) - Sure.
9: Nina (BoF3) - Yeah.

Laguna (FF8) - I don't think I give him Squall GFs, it feels really goddamn arbitrary, so... abstain.

Godlike:
1 Zophar. 2 spoiling types (OHKOing him or nulling magic)…but…the first is hard and the second is rare.
2 Souji
3 Ghaleon
4 Xorn
5 Yuna
6 Jade
7. Time Lord
8. Terra
9. Rubicant
10. Shania
11. Xenobia
12. Jenna- Good against PCs to me. Yeah, no to that HP buffing thing.
13. IQA- Man, did that relevation hurt. Still, a low Godlike though as a passable slugfesting boss.
14. Nel- Deaels with PCs better than IQA! But this is Godlike, a boss Heavy division
15. Asellus
16. Kuja.
1-6 were fucking difficult. Had to mostly gutcheck

Heavy:
1 Ness. Durable monster with some status
2 Lede. Doesn’t like some bosses, but deals with most of Heavy pretty well
3 Hilda. I…suppose. ID, buffs…I don’t know, could be overrating this one.
4 Tana. Respect for the evasive FEers has climbed a little. Could go lower though
5 Carlie. Evil healing ability
6 Nina 1. Healing with some status and solid durability boosters
7 Demi- Healing with solid durability and status immunity
8 Chie- 2HKO smash…although could go a bit higher if I’m underrating her damage.
9 Nash
10 Kary. DoS is no longer an instant last! That Mdur though…Also, easy for her to lose a 2HKO, and she isn’t as resistant to status as I thought.
11 Nina 2
12 Agrias
13 Yuki. Some evasion tricks
14 Glenn. Has damage at least.
15 Janus. Not a Heavy.
16 Regal. Would go near the bottom of the Middle list.

Middle:
1 Yulie- I guess? OHKO her or likely lose. This Middle field is kind of bad.
2  Axl- Uh…respect has climbed, but again, this Middle field is kind of bad. Healers own him badly.
3 Adray- Slow and undurable, but Turn 1 Freeze and Confuse
4 Rauny- 2HKOs, and not the easiest to hit
5 Scythe- Losing the initiative hurts notably, although…this field is bad.
6 Cador- Durable, fast magic and physicals. Or…was he the status weak one…
7 Teddie- Yes, Lightning exists, and for some few matches it will hurt. Very solid beyond that though. Mentally had to wrestle where to put him for a while, but Auto-Raku option think lets him slip into 7th…barely.
8 Ashton- Solid 2HKOer with status res works. Could be overrating.
9 Joachim- Durable, passable damage, ID
10 Junpei- Wind weaknesses is less notable than Lightning, but he’s not as good!
11 Rudy. Scrapes a 2HKO and slow
12 Setzer
13 Lun. Ee, thinking of switching her with Kraken. HP, ability to be foiled by Fire res or healing or Mdur…these don’t outweigh the equip options enough.
14 Kraken- DoS! No longer is an auto 16 though
15 Rena
16 Raijin- Slow 3HKO with shitty HP. Is raped by healers

Light:
1. Garet. Solid+some status that makes him too much for Light
2. Alonso. Better speed barely lets him edge out Kahn, I think.
3. Kahn. Too much for Light too, if not as effective as Garet overall.
4. Mallow- Physicals, Magic, Healing. Overall solid
5. Aguro- The Pdur and the damage help him above the more average types
6. Jin- Averagish with Healer Busting
7. Dean- Averageish w/o Healer Busting
8. Tempest- Fast 3/4HKO borderliner
9. Draggy- Fast 3/4HKO borderliner who is elementally dependent
10. Laguna- Not good, but a lot of Light can’t avoid the limit.
11. Aeris- Quirky, but bad damage does sink her a bit too much
12. Nina
13. Chu Chu
14. Connie
15. Euram
16. Jogurt
...into the nightfall.

Because Super asked me to...

Godlike:
1. Yuna (FFX) - Pretty sure. I think people tend to think more about Yuna as lol7Aeonsummons instead of looking at the entire package, which is just threatening. Some equip cheese, some immunities, decent evade...uh yeah. She's wins when she gets a turn AND is hard to kill.
2. Xorn (G3) - Had to think about this. I think Xorn at forefront is just too devastating unless you can really reduce physicals. And even then, he still has backup tricks.
3. Souji (Pers4) - My respect for him is a lot less than others most likely, but Souji is a bastard. At the very least, he's nigh unkillable thanks to having multiple shots of full healing + blocking options to other damages. Oh, and his best persona also has game best damage. Yeah. I have less respect for the Endure/Fusion mixing gimmicks but  he's good.
*Huge drop*
4. Terra (FF6) - Pretty huge drop. Terra's solid for what she is. Covers her bases well, has some utility options, blocking options, etc. Nowhere near the top three.
5. Rubicant (FF4) - Wallable, but you pretty much NEED to wall him.
*Drop*
6. Ice Queen Avril (WA5) - A lot less powerful than we imagined, but having 2HKO damage off decent speed is nice
7. Nel (SO3) -  And another big drop. Nel's not godlike, but she can at least handle some PCs which is more than can be said for...
8. Kuja (FF9) - This guy

Heavy:
1. Lede (FFT) - Good speed, damage, PC killer. Great at what she does. And its damn powerful
2. Ness (EB) - Has HP. LOTS of it. In Heavy his lower speed doesn't wreck him and he gets much more chances for his other utility spells to come in. Bites it hard to status, but so does like half of this field.
3. Tana (FE8) - Speed, evade, damage, counters. One dimensional? Sure, but yeah, she's good.
4. Chie (P4) - Power Charge is awesome. The biggest thing with her is that if someone pokes her first, the recoil on GH can be fatal (above 3 do not have this problem). Less respect for Auto Suku, but its there and can certainly buy her a turn or two to lock things in.
*Drop*
5. Yuki (G3) - Evade cheese is accessable even with half SP.
6. Agrias (FFT) - Equip options > Glenn who basically has none.
7. Glenn (CC) - Has some semblance of damage
8. Janus (WA3) - Fails hardcore despite having 7 forms to choose from. His most competent form is probably Middle. Don't allow the Fortune gear form myself.

Middle:
1. Axl (MMXCM) - Hyper Mode + Speed gives him a solid basis to tackle most of middles without problems. Not really good against Healers, but in Middle, he can tackle some of the ones who are worse.
2. Yulie (WA4) - Outstalls you to death if you can't OHKO her effectively.
3. Rudy (WA1) - Damage. Lots of it. Slow and needs a turn or two to build - thank god ACF form gives him that ability though.
4. Scythe (WA4) - Losing initiative is just bad, especially with that durability. Flip side though? If you can't kill him in that first turn, you are in serious trouble. It's double initiative for both sides + he has 200%+ average speed = 3 turns for his 3HKO magic damage. Oh, and if you can only 2HKO, you run a risk of dieing to suction.
*Drop*
5. Teddie (P4) - Slow, Lightning weak, Frailish. Bad start? Yep. Lacks the equipment cheese that some of the girls has to boot. But 3 Resists + full healing keeps him afloat decently.
Setzer (FF6) -  Way too gimmicky to compare to the above, but said gimmicks makes him formadable against some.
7. Adray (SO3) - Kinda slow, but MP damage is neat. Some equip cheese options. Better than bottom three >_>!
8. Lun (S5) - Thought about it. S5 equip cheese > Junpei's resist. On top of that, Junpei has bigger issues with heal-locking things since he can't heal, and his best damage is even more limited than Lun's.
9. Junpei (Pers3) - Beats Raijin on account of some spoilage potential and not dying to a breeze.
10. Raijin (FF8) - Dies to a breeze, crappy damage, sluggish.

Light:
1. Garet (GS) - Decent, if nothing special. Can probably swing Low Middle, although won't be impressive. Strong Light though.
2. Mallow (SMRPG) - Solid Healer. Durability and speed can use some work, but he's pretty good otherwise.
*DROP*
3. Alonso (G3) - Has some damage options even with half SP. Which beats a lot of this pool
4. Jin (XS2) - Backlogged damage that ends up averagish. You know it is sad, when XS2 JIN IS 4TH IN LIST WHY GOD
5. Draggy (CC) - Has HP and speed or something?!
6. Aeris (FF7) - Um...um...limit healer off a crappy limit. Gjs. But that's not even the worst here.
*MASSIVE DROP*
7. Laguna (FF8) - ...Even worse limit fighter
8. Chu-Chu (XG) - HAS HEALING
9. Dean (WA5) - CAN DO SOMETHING ON A CRITICAL HIT
10. Euram (S5) - IS NOT JOGURT
11. Jogurt (SF1) - JOGURT

Light is fucking special. Funny that. We have awesome godlike pool and shitty light pool in the same season!

Godlike:

I. Ghaleon (Lunars) - Just shy of Bluelike.  It's Ghaleon - he's the best Godlike here.
II. Jenna Angel (DDS) - Excellent durability, amazing damage, some tricks.  That's before the form-shift, and the damage nullifcation.
III. Zophar (Lunar:EBC) - Overkills things, and can heal, or sap MP.
IV. Xorn (G3) - Suffers a bit when physicals are tanked...otherwise brutal, and outspeeds anything.
V. Rubicant (FF4) - Excellent damage, good speed, relatively respectable durability.
VI. Jade (BoF1) - Insane durability, damage is solid as long as you don't block lightning.  Otherwise decent.
VII. Xenobia (Lunar:SSSC) - Stone, ok damage, good durability.
VIII. Ice Queen Avril (WA5) - Damage...ok durability, a trick or two.
IX. Kuja (FF9) - Healing and excellent speed...durability is a bit poor, damage could be better, but still good.
X. Souji (Pers4) - Best PC in the DL...unfortunately in a field with loads of bosses.  Oh well.
XI. Yuna (FFX) - She really wishes I allowed any of the required Aeons, but otherwise is excellent.  Form-merging helps, but not like others.
XII. Terra (FF6) - Needs more speed.  Minerva would be nice too.  Drain is still good, and Morph is a good trick, combined with Ultima.
XIII. Shania (SH3) - Needs more speed?  Overkills immediately, though, which is good.  Support skills rock.
XIV. TimeLord (SaGa) - Wishes I allowed Mystic Skills.  Can deal with most PCs, but fails against bosses.
XV. Nel (SO3) - Healing forever.
XVI. Asellus (SaGa) - Sucks.  Does not belong anywhere near Godlike.

4) Jin (XS2) - Fast, damaging, amazing support skills...yeah.  Excellent overall, and needs an upgrade.
5) Mallow (SMRPG) - Healing...eh.  Really is not this good, but...the others below...
6) Tempest (Lunar:SSSC) - Excellent speed and damage...even if it's all physical.
7) Alonso (G3) - Same as above!...except it runs out eventually.
8) Garet (GS) - Slower than the above, damage is easy to wall...but good overall.
9) Connie (S3) - Pale Gate Rune owns the ones below her, even if she is frail.

Aeris just gets the Cover materia which is in *her* garden! ;_; Or for realsies she also gets the Enemy Skill materia which appears in *her* glass prison in the Shinra building (maybe she dropped it!)~

(yeah I'm more willing to allow vague plot claims than all storeboughts I think (that's just broken OK! =-)))

Actually, I've often wondered why FF7 characters don't get store-bought Materia in the DL. I mean, if store-bought accessories and armours are allowed...

As far as accessories are concerned it's status blockers only (although I also allow elemental protection/boosts) For weapons and armour it's because they are unique (i.e only Cloud uses swords, Aeris uses staffs and rods, etc) or specified (i.e only females equip such and such) However people tend not to allow broken special effect stuff i.e FFT Reflect Mail, SO3 characters with eight boots of prowess and of course FF7 materia. Some people do, some people don't YMMV~

(in game all PCs eventually become Godlike with full materia choice pretty much becoming clones barring limits)

Eh, it's just my thought process - it feels odd to make those exceptions (allow only parts of an armour's effects?  When we allow the armour to be purchased?  Why?), when that's not how it is in-game.  Some games end up having stronger fighters than others because of equipment, but those games also have other things that they can't use?  I relatively understand the concept, but it is arbitrary.  I just blanket allow all storeboughts - it helps and hinders some games, helps others, does nothing in other cases.  I've always allowed any accessory anyway, so it's not a huge change for me.

Mm, the clone thing is why I've never allowed it myself. Although, they'd not all be Godlike thanks to some shitty speeds/durabilities (hi Vincent!) and the fact that it's limited to storeboughts only, meaning nothing like Enemy Skill, Final Attack, KotR, etc.
I'm mostly with OK on this one - it does seem ridiculous to allow only certain parts of armours/accessories, or to allow storeboughts with specific exceptions. The only way that seems acceptable is if there's a specific reason to disallow a shop/game's shopboughts due to the gameplay, but everyone allows P4, which seems like the most unlikely case of shop-boughts being allowed.

Well yeah that is a good point in FF7's case about them having materia slots that are usually used (although *I* seldom load Aerith with materia anyway - it hurts her stats too much - I just toss her in the front row with her high power no materia slot weapons with enemy skills or something on her armour) ~

Edit: Oh yeah people are ridiculously generous with P4 yeah and I'm still not entirely sure of everything I allow there myself but then if you consider Yukiko and Teddie's elemental weaknesses and the fact that status blockers aren't store bought ...

Also I personally think that the way OK and Djinn do things are great (<3) but yeah ... <3

Yay for generating discussion!

Giving an entire cast healing and oodles of fatal status because of the system (which is what materia would do) is not cool. The DL should generally reward what is unique about a character.

Granted, I am starting to think things like basic attack magic should be allowed in order to reflect the effectiveness of Magic stats. Aeris would certainly like this. And limiting it to basic attack prevents full-cast status/healing nonsense. Hmm.

Erwin Schrödinger will kill you like a cat in a box.

I do agree in theory that uniqueness should be the standout.  It has, however, felt to me like a double-standard to allow, say, status-blocking equips (when the "rule" was designed, it was designed to prevent single-status whores from ruining people), but not other accessories.  If a character in a game gets by on a single status that isn't blocked in-game (say, Sleep, a commonly guarded one in other casts) and has huge amounts of ability with storebought magic (those being the two things they standout for in-game)...well, you allow other casts to block their standout thing (when it wasn't in-game) and don't allow them their other thing.  Meanwhile, allowing storebought stuff of the equipment variety helps some casts far more than others (ones that get by on equipment options, such as FFT).

I've always allowed all accessories, and have gone over to allowing anything storebought or unique (1 person = unique).  It feels like the fairest thing to do is to allow everything storebought, or allow only unique things period (including equipment...so hey Persona 4 cast loses all their armours but not weapons!  Meanwhile, Shadow Hearts characters don't care about the equipment thing!).  I went by the latter on RPGP (nothing except unique stuff).  Storebought materia IS like equipment of a different variety...I mean, it is stuff you would buy and use commonly.

Mainly, it's always felt odd to make such minor distinctions (allowing Reflect Armour for the HP but not reflect property?  I've always found that weird - you'd be using it for that in-game...I think.  I'm not a FFT expert >_>) and unique set-ups.  But that might just be me!

Mm, I'm thinking of something like this. It seems ridiculous to penalise a pure mage for having storebought magic only, and allowing basic magic would also make them more like they are in-game - I mean, Aeris is one of the best mages there is, and would always be used for magic in-game, so having her without magic just seems... :psyduck:

I do extend the storebought attack magic to CC, but limited. I guess my problem with a cast like FF 7 is who gets what element?
...into the nightfall.
