Fou-Lu (Breath of Fire IV) vs Repede (Tales of Vesperia) - Soul Rend ignores immunity. Repede starts his Gale Dog loop, but Fou-Lu also has Sanctuary, meaning Repede doesn't have time to recover TP by running around or hitting Fou-Lu before needing to cast Gale Dog again. Repeat until Repede has no MP. Poke away the final 1 HP.

Heavy

Rita Mordio (Tales of Vesperia) vs Nell Ellis (Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm) - Candification. I'm thinking... Mordio Muffinbread.

Middle

Mistral (.hack Series) vs Liese Randel (Atelier Annie: Alchemists of Sera Island) - *shrugs*

Light

Thomas (Suikoden III) vs Chuck Preston (Wild ARMs 5) - Thomas w/ Wind Rune = Middle.

Fou-Lu (Breath of Fire IV) vs Repede (Tales of Vesperia): General no to Soul Rend hitting considering what Big Bang does (or rather, what it does not). Asides from that, just whittles on down slowly but steadily.

Heavy

Rita Mordio (Tales of Vesperia) vs Nell Ellis (Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm): Candification does'nt work due to Perfect Magic I believe. Besides that I think Rita just wins a slugfest?

Middle

Mistral (.hack Series) vs Liese Randel (Atelier Annie: Alchemists of Sera Island)

Light

Thomas (Suikoden III) vs Chuck Preston (Wild ARMs 5): Evade work? Sure.

Fou-Lu (Breath of Fire IV) vs Repede (Tales of Vesperia) - Fou-Lu has Dispel?  Dunno if I'd see that working or not...  Hmm.

Heavy

Rita Mordio (Tales of Vesperia) vs Nell Ellis (Atelier Iris 3: Grand Phantasm) - Rita blocks candification due to it being magic.  Nell has physical ID as well, but IIRC it wasn't very accurate?  If not, Nell should be able to 2HKO and go first.  But I think I see Rita just one-rounding with an OL.

Middle

Mistral (.hack Series) vs Liese Randel (Atelier Annie: Alchemists of Sera Island) - Status before Liese can kill, I think?

Light

Thomas (Suikoden III) vs Chuck Preston (Wild ARMs 5) - Parrying should tip this.

Soul Rend ignores immunity, why wouldn't it get through Gale Dog?
And if it doesn't, what about Sanctuary?

I don't understand this Big Bang argument.

Forgot about Perfect Magic. But Nell has an awful lot of options, I need to check again to see if she has a form that outslugs Rita.

Yeah, I had to check the stat topic because Nell has so many frickin' options.

But I think Nymph form can do it.

Sanctuary (2)[5 speed]: Grants immunity to all elements and statuses and cures status effects, MT.  Duration is 5 turns?

Now Rita and Nell are slugfesting eachother with Mage Physicals. Awesome. Nell's physical in Nymph form is pretty pathetic, but Rita's physical damage is getting compared to Yuri, so...

Nell outslugs.

Uh, having not even played ToV, isn't Meteor Storm the answer there?

No, the answer is "Nymph has nothing but magic and can't hurt Rita." Only Faustus/Normal/Diemia can do stuff to Rita. Unless I'm finally going insane.

Big Bang is an MT HP-1 move that always works outside of Gale Dog/Force Field. I don't buy Soul Rend going through it. ANd Sanctuary takes up Fou's turn, which Gale Dog shenanigans can get past easily enough (if Fou was fast or if he double-acted maybe that would be another story)

Doesn't Nymph Nell have a basic physical?

At any rate, the point is made moot by Tractor Beam non-elemental spam. I thought Meteor Storm was Fire Elemental in ToV? I'll check later.

And Sanctuary takes up Fou's turn, which Gale Dog shenanigans can get past easily enough (if Fou was fast or if he double-acted maybe that would be another story)

Okay, assuming that Soul Rend = Big Bang.

Sanctuary would indeed take up Fou's turn, but that just sets Repede/Fou into a GaleDog->Sanctuary loop until one of them runs out of MP. I'm just guessing that BoF4 bosses don't have to worry about MP. Even assuming that Repede gets some doubling in, his damage under GaleDog is so bad that there's no way he's KOing Fou before the GaleDog->Sanctuary Loop runs him out TP.

The TP Regen (and associated options) are so fast, and Gale Dog so cheap, that I don't see that happening. If Fou were faster than sure.

Nymph's basic physicals are magic damage.

The stat topic should really say these things ... >.>;;

The TP Regen (and associated options) are so fast, and Gale Dog so cheap, that I don't see that happening. If Fou were faster than sure.

So... what I'm getting from you is that you're including GaleDog as part of Repede's combo or something? I mean, I can buy that GaleDog is a fast move, but since it doesn't lock down the enemy (indeed, it is a support ability), the traditional ARPG interp is that it would take up Repede's 'turn' in the DL. So Repede would have to cast GaleDog first turn, and then Fou-Lu would use his turn to Sanctuary it. Repede can repeat this until a double, but unless you see Repede as doubling every turn, it's eventually going to drain his TP, and his physical damage is pretty weak, so there's no way he's taking out Fou's HP before he runs out of TP. And if Repede opts for higher damage options than his physical, then he's draining his TP far faster than he's regaining it.
