I would like to play Mass Effect. Not sure how well my computer could run it, though.

Looks like Zenny's playing a lot of Bioware RPGs in the next few months.

Also, things that are bullshit:  Being able to buy Mass Effect off of Steam, but not KotOR 2.  Mmph.

It was slow and clunky every so often, but pretty much perfectly fine. So... huh, yeah, I guess I did. Mass Effect for $5 it is, then?

Oof, okay, but seriously this is the last thing I am buying. It's not even about the money, I'm just going to be sitting on these and not finishing them until I am thirty goddamn years old. I haven't even freaking finished Dragon Age and KotOR yet.

EDIT: Plus I know I'm going to buy KotOR 2 on Amazon fairly soon, since I like the first game pretty well and want Chris Avellone's unmentionables in my mouth.

Plus if I like Mass Effect at all I will probably want to spring for ME2 since what I've heard about the carry-over choice-and-consequence-style stuff is really appealing arrrrrgh

RA3 for 10 bucks. Tempting.

I've been taking it easy withthis sale, all I've gotten so far is Batman: AA and ME. Trying to avoid exactly what Strago described.

RA3 is good, but don't get the expansion for it - it's not that good.

Grefter why are you not telling people to buy Painkiller.

NOTE: Buy Painkiller Black, otherwise known as "the good ones." The sequels only cost three bucks extra, but they're still not worth it.

Only get the version Shale talks about.  I have mentioned it once or twice on IRC, but not here.

Yeah, I've gotten... KotOR, Torchlight, Telltale: Everything, Jade Empire: Special Edition, the Hitman pack, BioShock, and now Mass Effect. Because I have some sort of mental illness, I think.

Don't forget that there's going to be another sale just like this one next year! Good luck finishing all those games before you make your next annual splurge.

Incidentally, I'm glad I fought the urge to buy Torchlight a few days back, as it's back to $5 today. That makes it a no-brainer purchase for me.

Ditto that. I got Jade Empire, the LucasArts adventure pack, Braid, BioShock, Burnout Paradise, Chronicles of Riddick, Prince of Persia WW and TTT, STALKER, and soon a lot of therapy. I figure I'll probably spend that much on games in the next year anyway, so I might as well have more options.

I mostly bought old games or games I should have bought during the year.  I won't play them all, some of them I bought just to own (Already did my time with some of them, just figured I should buy them) or have access to again.  So I figure unless I overlook a lot of things I have bought most of the stuff I want, so next year should be easier, if not mostly spent on frivilous microtransactions again (Did I really need to buy a Katamari knock off?  Not really, but it was $2 more in a pack with a game I DID want, so fuck yes!).

Wait, wait... having a large backlog of games is a bad thing? Why didn't anyone tell me?!

Question: How long does it take Valve to actually charge for the games? I keep on checking to see if it's posted to my credit card, and it's been a week now...

I was billed for Burnout Paradise and the Prince of Persia games two days after making the purchase. The others still haven't shown up.

Slow on posting this, but forgot to mention two other notables I got off the Steam Holiday Sale:
A) Indigo Prophecy, some kind of horror adventure game that starts with a pretty cool premise ("I just murdered that dude!  But why?") and by the end apparently degenerates into hobos vs. aztec gods and general trainwrecks.  Haven't gotten too far myself, but it was only 3.50.  (Now it's 10, which is still reasonable.)
and more pertinently...
B) Plants vs. Zombies, also for 10 (was 7.50).  If you have any love for tower defense games, it's definitely recommended.  Excellent sense of humor, and they diligently mix things up with tons of mini-games, puzzles, variant-modes, a special survival mode for after you've beaten the game, etc.  Also: it has the CUTEST ZOMBIES EVER.  I defy you to find any cuter zombies.  The demo's free if you want to try it out (I'd played the demo in October, but only got the full game recently).

Indigo Prophecy isn't worth $10.  The basic adventure gameplay isn't that good (For what adventure gameplay is worth) so the game rides entirely on the plot and the plot ends up being worthless.  So it is $10 of boring chains of quick time events.

The current sale includes Quake for 50% off, or ten dollars. This means the standard price for Quake 3 is twenty dollars.

Anybody else see something wrong with that?

Yeah, people aren't playing enough Quake Live

PS thanks for reminding me I own Quake 1, I should play that some time.

The complete Commandos series is currently five dollars. Apparently a misprice - it was the midweek madness sale briefly, but it was then replaced by AvP and no longer shows up on the specials list - so I don't know how long it'll last.

Order the new Sam & Max series and get free..............Team Fortress 2 items.

Silly marketing ploy to get FPS people to buy an adventure game.

Is $34.99 worth it to have bunny ears on Heavy Weapons Guy?
