Merry Christmas! - The Loot & Celebrations (and whatever) Topic
« on: December 25, 2009, 02:42:14 AM »
Merry Christmas, guys! (Okay so it's sorta early elsewhere, but it's December 25th 12:30AM here, so it counts)

Here, post your Christmas happenings and your loot (at least, once it's under your tree). But, before we get into loots and fun, here's a word from our sponsors!

First, the Brazilian Government would like to make a kind offer:

Now, Media Vision's design team provides us a unique perspective on the legendary exploits extolled by the Brazilian Government: soon to be turned into a DS game with oddly solid gameplay.

Finally, this announcement is personally sponsored by Grefter, whether he admits it or not:

Okay, that covers it. Anyhow, what did you get for Christmas? How was your Christmas Eve and how will be/is/was your Christmas Day? Post your regards and gifts here!

(PS: Cabana Boy Andrew is entirely endorsed by superaielman, Jo'ou Ranbu and Lady Door. Ask -them- for the details, though, not me.)

Don't think of it as a novel. Think of it as a chance to retroactively win every argument you have ever walked away from.

Merry Christmas, everyone. I wish you all the best, and I hope 2010 is the best of the millennium for you yet. =D

In terms of loot, I got an epic new pair of headphones that sound so beautiful. Like, music has never sounded nicer. ;p
Also got a few shirts and pair of sandals (for my trip to Florida in 3 days ^^), masses of chocolate, some money ('bout $250 in all) and a couple of albums (Antithesis of Light by Evoken, and Draining the Waterheart by Mar de Grises).

Good Christmas. Had a lot of family over, too. Lotsa snow, but not overly cold, either. Although what I'm -really- looking forward to is my nine-day trip to Florida. ^^

EDIT: Oh yeah, if anyone's wondering how I've got my presents open at like, 1:30 in the morning, it's 'cause my family just assumes that, the moment it's the 25th, it's time to party. We usually stay up 'til like, 8 in the morning, and sleep through the whole day.

Um... Not THAT much this year! Also someone forgot my gift in their house, so I'll be getting that Saturday maybe.

A large sum of money
A storable media case w/ lock
A messenger bag
A magnet photo frame w/ my name on it
...And a mystery gift which I will be getting this Saturday. Knowing who it's coming from, it's probably a purple shirt. I might be surprised. Who knows?

So THAT'S what super showed OK at the minimeet. You sick monster.

I got...

500 GB external HD, just like the kappa.
Plates, bowls, and MUGS YES. now hot drinks would take needless effort.
$100 visa prepaid gift card, will likely nab a graphics card with this.
DVD-R's, now I can get OGs over to Tai.
A pair of pants and a shirt.
A dish drainer to go with my dishes.
Lots of candy.
A prepaid cellphone, which I'm only going to use in case of emergencies.
An xmas tree ornament, a train. Quite detailed, but a bit heavy to put on a tree.

It is a beautiful, beautiful day here -- bright and sunny and somewhere in the range of temperatures that is just right for this time of year, not too hot and not too cold. Very California December, for sure.

Andrew is home with his family for Christmas, so I'm here with the dog. And you know what? The day to myself isn't half bad. I don't think I miss Christmas this year, and I certainly don't miss the brouhaha over gifting.

Plus that awesome first post. ;)

While this list may be incomplete, it's only by one or two items that I'll be getting later in the week. So...

-$10
-A certificate for 10 free pick-ups or drop-offs from my family's vehicle
-A coupon for some socks.

And what I find more interesting is what I gave to other people, so:
-Sibling 1: $40, Left 4 Dead 2, Zombie Survival Guide, Borat book, gummy worms
-Sibling 2: $40, $50 Best Buy gift card, New Vampire's Handbook, John Lennon biography, chocolate Santa
-Sibling 3: $300
-Parental Unit 1: Two months advance rent, $100, $50 Canadian Tire gift card, Uncle John's Bathroom Quotation, Top Ten Music Lists, jujubes
-Other Parental Unit: $100
-Secret Santa: Collection of card games

Hmm, mostly gift cards (whether honoured by corporations or the Bank of Canada), coupons to see movies, and other sutff of that nature.  Though, I did get a nice shirt and the most awesome thing I got this year, the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, annotated, by Gibbons.

Though, the best thing was by far the breakfast with family, and conversation with sister out east.  So, I'm pretty happy right now.

Glad to be of service (I was sort of completely responsible for actually -making- the posters).

Anyhow, basically nothing for loot yet. Christmas has been quite simple, yet quite awesome so far, though. My whole family called me on Christmas Eve too.

After working for five hours (which I was 10 minutes late going in because my car was frozen shut, but 20 minutes late leaving because people don't have a clue that they should probably do shopping on non-Christmas days).

Gifts received:
Notice that my manager managed to piss off a lot of customers by telling them we were closed.  We were to close at 4 PM.  It was 4:10 PM.

Once I got home:
Three new awesome shirts.
A pair of pajama pants that's probably going to get exchanged (since I have nearly two drawer fulls of pajamas already).
Acne Treatment Cream (they say they're trying to help, but...).
Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story
Kirby: Super Star Ultra
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky

Indirect gifts to me:
Notice that my nephew LOVES the Tales of Phantasia Advanced game I got him.  Now maybe he'll stop begging me to play TotA all the time.

Notes to self:
Get new DS Charger.  I think someone stole mine.

Clothes and promised 300$ or so worth in cash.

Yeah, my family knows me too well, even down to the point where they know they can get away with giving me the money a little late because I never spend it on Christmas or very close.

I mean, seriously, it's pretty funny when everyone does it. I don't mind, though.
