Mogwai - I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead.

I was listening to Warm Hands by The Flashbulb earlier today and was thinking that it was probably the most soothing song I have come accross to use break beats (it is a very relaxing song).  Listening to this now, I realise this has a similar effect and quite obviously does not use break beats, but just highlights how relaxing Mogwai is (and Flashbulb on Soundtrack to a Vacant Life).

Nice and peaceful songs are good when I'm sick. Anything angry or angsty or even with just alot of high energy guitar makes me queasy. -_-

The new Gorillaz album (streaming here if anybody cares). It's pretty good, but not topping Demon Days.

Edit: I'm only half an hour in, but damn, this is the lowest-key stuff I've ever heard from the Gorillaz name. I think the fastest song on the album so far is about as upbeat as Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head.

Edit again: Finished and yeah, that's about right. No need to take my word for it when the Internet exists, but I hope anybody who was looking forward to Plastic Beach really liked Double Bass and November Has Come.

Liquid Tension Experiment - Acid Rain

I'm not averse to instrumentals - game OST fan, etc, etc - but HOLY SHIT THIS SONG. For people who don't like instrumentals, this is the song to get them listening to them. LTE are amazing, and this song is ADSFGGVRGRTVWHRE.
Also, I need to use headphones so much more. I currently use them when listening to music, like, once every one or two months. Headphones turn this from "Hey, this is pretty good!" into... well, the above reaction.

What is that Yoshi?  The sky is BLUE?  LTE are indeed beyond awesome (watch Dream Theatre live at any given opportunity, they are fucking amazing to see) and headphones are integral for catching subtle nuances of so many tracks short of spending several thousand dollars on audio equipment.  A hundred or 2 on headphones that are good quality and actually output bass is far far easier to handle than the cost of a sound system that has the same all encompassing effect that a set of heads have.

Also there is so many reasons that instrumentals like Acid Rain are better and easier to listen to than video game music or anime music.  This is because it is not written (and mixed) as a piece of background music meant to enhance something else that is happening.  The instrumentation is taking full focus on what you need to be paying attention to.  It is a complete song instead of being 1/3 of something designed to be a multimedia experience.  It is its whole own thing and it shows.

So is that Gorillaz album is good, decent or a let down? because I forgot abut ti! Need to get that double time!

~

Went to a Dropkick Murphys concert last night! That shit was hella fun. got in the mosh pit which was a first for me. Talk about a bunch of busy bodies. The crowd never stopped pushing and moving. I also got picked up and was crowd surfing for a good 5-10 seconds.

Good time!

It's pretty damn good for what it is, just don't expect a lot of up-tempo stuff. If you were hoping for more singles like Clint Eastwood or Feel Good, Inc., you'll come away disappointed. If you liked Every Planet We Reach Is Dead, Dracula and Double Bass, dive right in.

Dolly - Je Ne Veux Pas Rester Sage

The lead singer's pretty good, band is fairly pedestrian at least in this song. Killing Time's better.
