China opens a dwarf theme park to the acclaim of some human rights organizations and the chagrin of other ones.  Pretty interesting stuff anthropologically.  Interesting to try and deconstruct the western perspective of it, too.
Rocky: you do know what an A-bomb is, right?
Bullwinkle: A-bomb is what some people call our show!
Rocky: I don't think that's very funny...
Bullwinkle: Neither do they, apparently!

Look at that poster. Tell me, does the face the bear is making at Brendan Frasier make it look like he wishes to sexually assault him?

Two articles from news browsing!

http://www.news.com.au/national/sex-mad-cop-jessica-parfrey-loses-unfair-dismissal-claim/story-e6frfkvr-1225836746856

This just honestly made me laugh.  YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.

http://blogs.news.com.au/bossy/index.php/news/comments/i_had_sex_with_my_mates_16_year_old_daughter

40 year old dude shags a 16 year old and gets all emo about it.  YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG

Bonus points for this quote.
Quote
Yes, there is little doubt you did the wrong thing. Although she was’ “legal” and sought you out for the encounter you had a responsibility as the older partner to say no, not to mention your responsibility as a friend to your old mate. But you know that.
Seriously.  Note to everyone, you should never have sex with legally consenting adults who want to have sex with you when you are not in a monogomous relationship.  THAT IS WRONG.

Edit - Oh my gods the comments.  THE COMMENTS.  WHAT HAPPENED TO THE WORLD.  This is an article about a 40 year old dude doing the sideways twist with a 16 year old and everyone is all judgemental and angry about it.  What the fuck happened?

Obviously another case of Eagleland Osmosis.  16 year olds are jailbait, not legal, don'cha know.

Well, a few things.  In most places 40 on 16 is illegal.  Not in Australia from what you're saying, but commentators can be international (like, y'know, us).

Next, there's definitely a betrayal of trust with the friend going on.  If it was just "some girl I didn't know, we kept bumping into each other at a coffee shop, then at a party it just happened" the reaction would be different; with the right description the commentators might even call this imaginary waitress a slut.

Third, he's acting like a criminal about it.  Acting obviously guilty makes it more likely that people around you will judge you guilty.  If he was all like "oh well, accidents happen" and didn't make a big deal of it, the response might be different.

Fourth, 40 on 16?  Geez, I'd feel weird dating a 40-year-old, and I'm 27.  It's hard to imagine that relationship running much deeper than sex.  (And of course, "sex is morally wrong" seems to be a cultural sentiment that pops up from time to time.  Damn Puritans).

A decent portion of the commenters have a tendency to post the city they are from in their name (brad of Sydney and whatnot), it is an Australian news site and so on.

Betrayal of trust what?  That when his daughter sends him strong signals with intimate physical contact while he is under the influence he won't give in and have sex?  I still don't buy it.  The daughter is over the age of consent and she is quite -clearly- giving her consent.  Fuck the trust of the best friend/father at that point it is next to none of his damned business.  We aren't talking about him doing his friend's wife behind his back.  We are talking about the friend's daughter doing things on her own by her own choice because she wanted to .

Of course the guy is acting like a criminal about it, the guy is borderline suicidal, blaming himself for his break up and his entire life situation.  Responses of "You are a subhuman being" to that kind of situation is just a dick move, but that isn't even the point.  The point is that I am stunned that there is a giant pile of people being that kind of douche and not one other person for at least a page just being a disgusting male human being going "You got with a 16 year old?  Nice."  There is reasonable people there going "Dude your head is FUCKED UP, but whatever it was legal, deal with it like a human being" also, but they are a losing tide in the face of the latter type of douche.

Assuming it is not you know some dude just talking out his arse anyway, sure it may have just been fucking and that was all it was ever going to be, but hey people do that kind of thing.  It is just fucking in that case.  If that is not the case and it was not just fucking to the girl (who thought it was a good idea to start a relationship with a 40 year old man by shagging him when he is drunk?) well then sometimes it works.  Sometimes it doesn't.  That is what relationships are like. Same age long term relationships aren't super amazing at their success rates either, nor are sexual encounters for same age range couples through the roof for being more than just fucking.

So just to reiterate: People fuck.  All kinds of people fuck other kinds of people.  So long as it is consenting of both parties and they are legally over the age of consent then there should be nowhere near that level of violent rejection to the act.

To add to that the bar for the expected response to be someone to go "Dude.  Nice!" is even lower than those above specifications.

Well yes; in fact I've met a couple who...I think they were actually much closer in age than this, but looked about 40 and 70.  Apparently the public often reacts to them with "wtf dude, that's like having sex with your mother."  The irony is that both of them were in homosexual relationships 10 years ago, and comparing the two concluded "yeah, we're not really getting better treatment now."

There's no question that there's discrimination against age-separated couples (particularly if they also mess with the unspoken rule "in married couples, men should be older than women").  Usually not legal discrimination, at least, but at the same time I don't think there's any advocacy groups for age-separated couples.

Well there's two obvious responses to this article; for him, or against him.  Obviously you're not going to say that if you're against him.  If you're for him, it's pretty obvious that such a response would probably make him feel worse, not better.

So apparantly some jp retailer accidentally posted that Super Robot Wars Gaiden: The Lord of Elemental is getting a DS remake.

Quote
- 27th May 2010
- Nintendo DS
- 6090yen
- Not done in SD, real robot sprites like the original
- Brand new high quality attack animations
- Arrangement of gameplay systems based on the original game with refinements of more recent SRW games
- Retains all the feel of the original title

It's taken down now, but there are several other sites that document its existence.

Y'know, having read Grefter's link after initially commenting, I feel like I should note my first reaction to the guy's accounting of the events was "oh, so the girl tried to rape him".  After further thought this seems increasingly valid; the events as described ARE awfully close to rape, and in a gender reversed situation would probably be viewed as such by a majority.

But of course he's older and a man so he totally was the one doing the raping.

There was someone at GameFAQs with about 60k in one life.

I've done 90k for all three, but it was more evenly spread out between the three (something like 38k, 24k, 28k).  Notably the game has some...presumably physics exploits, like you never needing to touch the ground, and being able to destroy a star and jump at the same time.
