*holds onto the hope that N1 isn't actually involved in this*

If they are, maybe it will actually turn out to be a comedy game?

Yeah sounds like a comedy gold mine.

Maybe next they can do a Dogs With Leprosy RPG.

*Shrugs*

"Taking Over Hell" doesn't exactly sound like a comedy premise either, but Disgaea ended up pretty funny.

I'd think "Spanking the Seven Deadly Sins" actually lends itself more easily to comedic exploitation.

what's that about your mother?
Rocky: you do know what an A-bomb is, right?
Bullwinkle: A-bomb is what some people call our show!
Rocky: I don't think that's very funny...
Bullwinkle: Neither do they, apparently!

Gamespot does a villains contest (in the preliminry vote-in rounds right now; Manfred Von Karma's right on the borderline; pity I wasted my vote on Lezard).

With such revolutionary ideas like stealing a done to death GF poll, no wonder I haven't visited Gamespot in like...a decade. Man, I seem to remember it at one time being a useful thing too?

I enjoyed a poll from last week: "Do you or have you had a significant other?"

Like 65% responds "No, and I never have."

That poll amused me for a few reasons. The fact that it jumped from "Yes, but we're not that serious." to "Yes, we're engaged." left out probably the majority of people who are in a relationship.

As a few people in the comments point out, elemental affinities and Doom resistances are nothing like RPS. (Also if you're guessing elemental affinities in most games, you're doing it wrong. Scan more if it isn't obvious innately.) That's more a matter of "using what works best".

Also, it's pretty ridiculous to have a RPS in video games discussion without bringing in things like fighting games and competitive Pokemon which have really applicable parallels.

Erwin Schrödinger will kill you like a cat in a box.
Maybe.

This, this, this, this, THIS. There's a small nugget of truth in the article regarding Doom balance, but the finer points are completely missed. Doom gameplay is a lot finer granulated than that(Surprisingly!), distilling it down to R/P/S misses the point.

Quote
There's a bit of padding here as well, but due to ammo considerations, none of the weapons (except the handgun and fist) ever become irrelevant.

I just want to facepalm at this article implying that the chainsaw replaces the (berserk) fist or that the fist is useless.

Fallout: New Vegas sure has a lot of famous people playing characters

Contains spoilers for a game whose writing I actually care about, namely FO: New Vegas. In fact, I actually care about this game enough that I am going to use a spoiler warning for this:

MICHAEL DORN! FUUUUCK YEAHHHHH! COMING AGAIN TO PLAY MOTHERFUCKIN MARCUS!

Ron Perlman is, of course, back. Also Danny Trejo plays a joinable cNPC. It's a ghoul, because holy shit Danny Trejo is one step away anyway.

I always wondered why Rene Auberjonois didn't doing voice acting with the distinctive voice he has.

And Zachary Levi is in it and he's like... playing a Science version of John Casey?
