A clear attempt to keep OoT and FF7 out of the contest. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Board 8 is talking up FFX and Melee as favourites, probably based on the 2004 contest (though there was that more recent contest I don't remember the results of), but I dunno. Should be pretty wide open.

Hmm.

Suikoden 3
Final Fantasy X
Mario Kart: Double Dash!
Soul Calibur somenumber
Phoenix Wright: Justice for All (suspect PW1 will be the bandwagoned one, but meh)
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
Wild ARMs 4
Wild ARMs XF
Mega Man X8
Mega Man 9
Super Mario Galaxy
New Super Mario Bros.
Metroid Fusion

... I'll think about the rest.

Trials and Tribulations (PW3) seems to be the bandwagoned one on B8, actually.  Something about PW1 already having gotten in.

I doubt it.  The nostalgia window is still clearly in the late 90s period for GameFAQs.  Stuff from earlier is dropping off rapidly (Sonic, Megaman) but newer stuff doesn't seem to pack the same nostalgia punch.  I can't see a Halo or a GTA taking it all.  All of the more recent FF games have mixed receptions.  People realized that Twilight Princess isn't very good, and I doubt Wind Waker has gained a whole lot on Melee/FFX.  I can maybe see one of Brawl, Galaxy, or MGS4 taking top honours, I suppose.

Now that I'm non-lazy enough to look up the 2009 contest... Galaxy placed behind Brawl and Call of Duty 4 in direct comparisons with both, so I can't imagine it's any sort of threat. (Also, GameFAQs fails.) Brawl and MGS4, yeah, certainly possible.

Also, huh, no DMC game has ever been in a contest? Weird.

http://www.telltalegames.com/adventurebundle - Do you like charity? Do you like getting adventure games for cheap? Do you like me? If you answered "yes" to at least the second of those questions, click the link. Telltale has bundled six adventure/rpg PC titles for under $20. 25% of proceeds go to your choice of five charities or divided between them. Site says this offer ends on the 10th.

One important note:  The World Wildlife Foundation are the bastards who sued the World Wrestling Federation over the use of the initials WWF, and are presumptively unworthy of your money.

Quote
In 2000, the World Wide Fund for Nature (also WWF), an environmental organization, sued the World Wrestling Federation. The Law Lords  agreed that Titan Sports had violated a 1994 agreement which had limited the permissible use of the WWF initials overseas, particularly in merchandising. Both companies used the initials since March 1979.

Wait, I should be bothered that a charity got in a scuffle with professional wrestling?

You should be bothered that a charity was so concerned with the sanctity of its initials that it sued another company over them, when the two of them had coexisted for 20 years.  Dick move, and one that was, I'm sure, paid for in part by individual donations.

And I mean, really a dick move.  The World Wildlife Foundation tried to force the WWE to scrub even any historical reference to the initials "WWF" from their business.

And all because it is apparently so easy to mistake

I've blown 200 dollars on booze and booze related items, 60 dollars on a game I played for 2 days and will likely never play again, and 70 dollars on food in the past week.  Will I spend 20 bucks on a bunch of games I will never play?

.... Maybe.  Child's Play is literally a charity that hasn't sued Wrestling.  On the other hand, Steam has already immunized me to the "lol cheap games = good buy" gimmick.  Still, I have heard Sam and Max is good times, and the selfish act of philanthropy is sure to appease whatever personified forces of nature (re: White Guilt) I've managed to piss off in my lifetime, right?

...

Well, probably not now that I've pointed it out.

Huh, this came up with one of my students the other day. Apparently he was a fan of WWE, and I was like 'WTF is WWE?'. After he did some hilarious 'wrestling moves', I figured out that he must have meant WWF, so I told him that I knew what WWF was and that in America, that's what we normally watch (I assumed WWE must have been the Japanese version or something).

Now I have to go correct myself to a 7-year-old because I haven't followed fake wrestling since I was in middle school... >.>;;

What does WWE even stand for? How long ago did it change? Who is the big popular wrestler these days so I can name-drop to a Japanese kid and seem like an awesome teacher who cares?
