So apparently /1 minimization allows for CSI-styled image enhancement.  Which in turn means less time for MRIs to work, and less light exposure required for, say, the Hubble telescope to get clear images of celestial bodies.

Awesome.

"In the words of Sigmund Freud, sometimes a cigar is just a giant vagina in the desert that swallows men whole." Yes.

I found that one less insightful than the Episode 1 one.  Episode 1 I saw some flashy things, didn't mind the movie, but felt ho-hum about it, and I wasn't sure why I thought that.

Episode 2 he slams the love scene (something that was painfully obvious--although I had forgotten how over-the-top the romantic imagery was).  Once again complains about too much CG and too much stuff on the screen (a point he had already made in Episode 1).  Complains about people knowing stuff they shouldn't...except most of the people he complains about are Jedi (who already have a sixth sense for knowing stuff--see Empire Strikes Back where Vader sees some pictures of Hoth and says "that's the secret base, trust me")--though sure, it's bad when Padme does it.  Claims that Samuel L Jackson was chosen just to draw in the crowds, and was a terrible fit for the role (fairly obvious now that I think about it--I just don't pay close attention to actors not named Johnny Depp).  The one complaint that hadn't jumped to my mind was the complaining about actually putting Yoda in a fight, when it goes against the "strength doesn't matter" speeches he gives in the original movies--but honestly I thought the Yoda fight scene was the high point of...well...honestly the prequel trilogy; I don't really feel there's an inconsistency in "you must learn to be calm and not rely on strength to master the force" alongside the image of Yoda fighting.

So...I feel like he fails to point out much I find really insightful (unlike the episode 1 review) and at the same time goes light on some sequences that I remember being pretty bad (from what I remember, they spend a rather long time in the clone factory--like 20 minutes or something.  I was actually getting rather bored with how long the scene stretched out with very little plot substance.  And yet he doesn't attack the pacing at all).

Still pretty funny, of course, but he doesn't need to review a movie to be funny.

Glitch in HGSS allows you to get nearly any move for nearly any Pokemon without resorting to an Action Replay/Gameshark/hacking. Posted here for the heck of it.

Eh. I thought the Yoda fight was just stupid and ridiculous. Which I'll grant is a step up from the rest of the movie, which is merely stupid and boring. But the thing is, all that jumping around? It doesn't really serve to do anything but put Yoda at the normal height for a fighter, which is silly and pointless. Just hack his legs off and be done with it! But this is movie fighting and the point isn't to hit your opponent. It's to hit your opponent's weapon. This ultimately just comes back to the reviewer's ep. 1 complaint of "lightsaber duels are so minutely choreographed as to be boring."

See, I happen to like good choreography.  For example,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=un3-Hb9wF9s
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sr2JneittqQ
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sez9ki-OvhE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrO4YZeyl0I
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTAAsCNK7RA
Or for actual fight scenes...see any of a variety of Jackie Chan movies, really.  I want to say Gladiator had some good ones too, but it's been a while.

Granted, this is not to say "you should always use choreography" for the same reason it's not true that "you should always use closeups" or that "you should always have a romantic subplot".  Nor does it mean that choreography is everyone's cup of tea (the same way, say, romance is not everyone's cup of tea).  But choreography is not inherently bad.

Jackie Chan gets away with it because his films are usually a hybrid of martial arts and comedy. There is a difference between fight choreography like in Gladiator, where it actually looked like people fighting, and fight choreography like the Prequels in particular did it, where it looks like a dance-off with lasers.

Speaking of Star Wars, were you as entertained by the hilarious comedic stylings of Star Wars as I was? GOOD NEWS.

It has Geass and Macross Frontier and FMP and Crossbone and I think I might want a PS3 a lot more now.

Ditto seems to always be broken.  Had a similar problem in D/P that they fixed in Platinum but now this.  BTW, don't get excited about ditto egg moves if you compete in the official video game competitions.  Their hack-check software picks up illegal movesets like those.

Don't think of it as a novel. Think of it as a chance to retroactively win every argument you have ever walked away from.

The funny part, is that some of these are more absurd in-context.

The one about dragging your politician out and beating him into a pulp?  That was a response to dishwasher detergent regulations.

The one about "I like women, I just think feminism has led women astray"?  That was Rush Limbaugh defending his judging of the Miss America pageant.  And he followed it up by saying "This is miss America, and if there's a Mister America, it's me!"

Now that's ridiculous. Mister America was Hulk Hogan in a mask.

Holy crap they have the whole first issue of the second set of Phonogram up as a teaser (this is the one I have read).  This is awesome and I must pimp it.  THIS is what music feels like.

Eh I dunno, might be background and the company you keep?  Or amount of times I have had to spend away from music while more and more often being unable to listen to music while I work?

I studied a Science at University (lolpscyhology=science) where you started with Music and went on to English.  I live with two people who although listen to music and like it do not embrace and completely envelope themselves in it and refuse to take it to the art fag level I do.  Whenever I try to explain to people why I need music to sleep well or why it helps me think or how even ultra aggressive music calms me (or focusses me at least) and just plain makes me happy I can never really put it into words.  It is just music, that is what it does, that is how it feels.

Someone successfully putting that into a comic astounds me, especially with how bady the medium handles music, it abandons tryig to emulate music and succeeds in just plain showing how music feels.

Those things together astound me.  It also helps that the first comic is probably the weakest of the 6, Penny is shallow, but she is a good centrepiece to set the stage for the stories around her.
